that is just ... wow
those fangirls are seriously sad. the only fight...if you want to call it a fight...about twilight was with a guy about Edward vrs Jacob. him fighting for edward me fighting for Jacob. all it amounted to was extreme screaming and lots of finger pointing.
I hope none of it is true too, but somehow, some of them are believable :-/ .
I agree with you there - SM starts out with an idea that has potential, then just blows it by demanding a happy ending for all! The books leading up to BD held out so much potential, with all those themes of choice and sarifice ... then all we got was sunshine and lollipops!
I agree with that (SM has to have happy endings for all therefore partially destroying the potential of the book).
There is going to be 2 sequels for the Host though. 'The Soul' and 'The Seeker' from memory, but I'm not quite sure. I might write some fanfic on it when I get the time... maybe.
I was creating a terribly stupid fanfic of Twilight in my head last night. It had everything bad you hate in fanfic, was completely un-canon and ultimately pretty hilarious, but at least it helped me get to sleep :P
The sequels are just a disaster waiting to happen...

Every time I hear mention of sequels to The Host I just cringe. She really just can't leave anything be and just has to gain those extra few dollars by squeezing the life out of every promising story.

He he he Cat-Eyes, I do that all the time...if I ever bothered to write them down, I would probably have the largest collection of terrible fanfics ever created!
I am in two minds about sequel to The Host. I really enjoyed the book, even with the fluffy ending (best word I could find to describe it), and I think it could be possible to do a good sequel or two for it. On the other hand, it is SM, and she does make some bizzare choices in her story-telling...
I haven't read New Moon, Eclipse or Breaking Dawn yet, although I did read Midnight Sun on SM's website. So Carlisle, who turned out to be basically the main character is probably completely and utterly as far from canon as possible. He was still nice though...

I've just finished all four books of the Twilight series and I went and saw the movie this morning. I couldn't put them down! I just wanted to ask someone who actually gets it but I don't really understand the concept of imprinting. It confused me throughout the whole last book and while I have a very vague idea about what it could mean, I'm hoping someone can give me some clarification on the matter.
Go Edward! [act]Swoons[/act] (Sorry I couldn't resist :P)
I think The Host was really good, perhaps even better than Twilight. But then again they are two completely stories, and you can see the difference in them. I like The Host better because it was much more thought provoking. Twilight is very much popular fiction, catering for angsty teens experiencing first love.
I still think that Twilight isn't that well written, but I do admit that it's really addictive. It's just got those elements in it that evokes that. I think Edward being totally swoonable is another thing :P
PML! I love Joss Whedon :P
I really enjoyed The Host as well. It had much more depth, I think. I had a bit of a problem with the ending too, in that I knew what was going to happen. You could just tell that Wanderer would get transplanted into another body and everyone would live happily ever after. I am a fan of happy endings, but I like a bit of suprise too! It was so obvious.
I'm always happy to have sequels, and more story ;D I'm not sure where SM will go with The Host though. The characters don't have a whole lot more growing to do... she sort of ended it so that everything was resolved. There's always potential for the "let's accidentally have a baby!" storyline though! :P

Haha! Zieria, loved the link. I think I want one of those T-shirts - does it come with a free Edward?
I wonder if SM will continue to try the writing thing, or if she'll just sit back with her dosh. Perhaps she has to wait for another dream... [act]puts the claws away[/act]
In regards to what you said in your spoiler, Zieria, I thought Wanda's new body was 16, which, while young, is not underage. (Although I have a feeling the age of consent in America is 18, so...) But it struck me as slightly...iffy that she was put in such a helpless, innocent-looking body. There's something about that that bothers me, and I can't quite articulate it properly.
I agree
SM seems to have a disturbing fixation with youth - her vampires stay young, wanda gets a young body. Even her playlists - listening to muse and stuff like that, sort of show that she's trying to re-live her youth (isn't Bella thought to be Meyer?)
It's like she's saying "everything is better when you're young" - which is disturbing. Her older (looking) characters, where they exist - there aren't many, are inferior, less accepting, not as intelligent - look at charlie and renee.
If you want to read a sort of 'grown up' version of 'the host' - read 'the intruders' by michael marshall. I'm not yet finished, but it is an amazing read ...
just wander into borders and sit down with it ... I'm interested in the notebook too

What you say above, Nef, is so true, but then that's the basic premise of all the best YA literature: 'My parents don't understand me'. You need to have absent, or clueless, adults, for anything to happen, plotwise.
I know, but here, the children are the adults, in a way (yet still annoyingly highschool ...) which negates any parental wisdomn that may be obtained
My friend and I believe that SM has a fixation with the age 17. Edward was seventeen and Wanda's new body was too . It's not much to go by and I think we had other reasons, but I forgot them :P
Not all the adult-kids/teens relationships give the control to the kid/teen. Carlisle has most of the control in the Cullens and Esme isn't ruled by the Cullen teens (though I won't say she has a lot of say because that would be lying). But all the other parent-kid relationships do, as you said, give the higher status to the kids. :P
