hmm.. well, i got really miffed with the third book.. i think that's the one that im talking about... i can't remember :P but the new one that is out i haven't read... i refuse to read it, although my friend has read it and she's been raving on and on about it since she finished it :P so i already know mainly what happens ~:|
the reason why i got turned off the series was Dimka got turned! and then Rose left her BFF to go a-hunting coz it was rabbit seaso-uh i mean coz she wanted to 'avengfe her lover' or some such dribble :P
i just can't bring myself to read the next one... maybe when they're all out i might try to emerse myself in them again, but i can't anymore :P
OML VAMPIRE ACADEMY! When I stayed up all night to read Blood Promise I kept crying and I was laughing (with I had to stiffle immediately so I wouldn't wake anyone up). I would so recommend it! Helena you would love it!
It was kinda creepy when I stayed up all night (I mean literally all night til 5:49 am as Vampire Academy, SusRid frequenters will know) because:
1) it was incredibly dark
2) one of my drawings on the wall half-fell and I was just like 'wth was that!?' but then I fixed it up.
3) twice in the night I heard banging and one of my neighbours came outside and yelled at someone ... creepy!
Oh. I have blood Promise Helena, and Its not disapointing. So dont worry.
Dinaria, that would have been scary!!!! Maybe there was Strigoi in your neighbourhood!!!
Thank-you ElspethInnle for the pic and video. Awesome stuff!

hmm... well, i might get it from the library when school gets back in.. but im not making any promises :P i honestly don't want to read it and then end up going 'OML! now i have to read the next on eNOW!' and then have to wait another 6 months until i can read it :P
see? that's the bad thing about reading books as your main obsession: they just take too long to write, but not enough time to read! x_X
also, what is happening to me now with the sneak preview of what the Sneding is going to be like might happen to me with the VA, and i don't want that to happen, coz i don't like suspense... :P
[act]inserts squeeing over the oberchrons here[/act] :-}
I just started reading the first book. At first I found I couldn't really get into it, and the flashback - type parts were a little annoying, but now I just can't stop reading it. I've almost finished the first book and then I have to steal the rest from my sisters friends. I'm actually liking this more than Twilight. It's a kind of HP for vampires.
The Strigoi are so interesting! It's so strange though because almost every new vampire novel that comes out have all these evil clans and new and different vampire rituals - I hated vampires sparkling! - but I am actually liking how the vampires act in this books. Really happy about it.
I love Rose! She kicks [censored]!! But she is such a maneater, seriously. Jesus....
I'll be reading more tonight!! Yay!!
MD - ::) well obviously there are Strigoii in my neighbourhood, why do you think I'm so evil ... or pale or with a different colour encircling my iris than the inside of it (but I suppose you can't be expected to know those things as you've never seen me :P ) lolz.
Hell - I know what you mean, but for a while I managed to distract myself with Stargazer, and now The Key To Rondo, but I've almost finished all the good books and will have to start rereading some again so I don't die of anticipation! I suppose you're being sensible about it
Kaylan - lolz, she does get a little more moral through it ... though, of course, she's Rose, so she can't change that much :P
I really want my name to be Roza now! ... Mostly just because I want Dimitri whispering it to me lolz. What are you supposed to do with 'Danielle'? I hate 'Dani' and 'Elle' is what all my friends call me :P
I liked them, they are a pretty good series. But I wish they would hurry up and release the next one. I seemed to get into a series and then read to fast and have to wait forever for the next ones.
But I like Rose, I think she is brave strong woman, kind of like Elspeth, they are very good characters.
I really hope that Rose can save Dimitri from being a Strigoi.

yeh, i think that she'll find some way of changing him back, but hopefully with not so much twilight-y-ness, you know, the happy, happy, joy, joy ending?
well, i still haven't started reading the next book yet, tho not from my friend's lack of trying... ones of my friends brings the book to school for the soul purpous of waving it in front of my face to try to tempt me ~:|
but i've discovered that not only do i not want to read it, i also don't have time or space to read it in... i have homework up to my bedroom roof and i have about...7 perscribed texts to read before the end of term... and that includes about 2 shakespeare plays [act]sighs[/act]
[/end excuses] |:|
So I've finished reading Shadow Kiss, and wow, was it a good read. I'm really into this series! I almost didn't want to go out so I could simply finished the last chapter of the book! I was on edge throughout the whole book, and so interested in Rose's shadow - kissed abilities! And her ability to see Mason? Well, I had my thoeries, but I didn't think it was that!
Ahh...I am so in love with Dimitri...but equally as sad! I cannot believe that he was turned into a strigori! But I guess I have to wait and see what happens! And Adrian is a crack - up. But I actually really respect him. He's kind of my bad - boy Ariel =) Hmph! It's so frustrating having to wait for the other books! I want to read more now!
I just read Vampire Academy yesterday (literally, it only took me a few hours). I think I'm a bit out of the age range it's set to, but I still really enjoyed it. I've just put a hold on the sequels at the library.
If you guys liked it, you'll probably like Doppelganger by Marie Brennan (and it's sequel, Warrior and Witch). It's aimed at an older audience, though. Some parts are quite similar - there are two characters with a bond, one's magic and the other's a warrinor. I'm not saying one ripped off the other or anything, there are just some similarities. Anyway, Doppelganger is really good, you guys should read it ;)
Sounds good.
Maybe you could post a picture of it. :)

I reallly enjoyed these books, i have read most of the "vampire series" that are out there and these ones are my favourite. I think that the characters are well developed. My favourite is adrian, i think he is so adorable :P. I am looking forward to the next one, seeing as blood promise ended on the note that it did. I am looking forward to seeing what she is going to do with it. I heard there was going to be 6 in total? or was i just imagining that.. So that means that there will be one more in after spirit bound, the last one is to be released late 2010/early 2011
Thanks for the link Cat-eyes. Pretty cool!
Oh-Oh-Oh! I haven't read Blood promise yet, but I cant wait.
My friend read the first but got bored, and the rest probably don't even know they exist.
I LOVED THEM!!! But i'd like to know what age people would aim them at?
I had no idea there were more than 4, and i was thinking 'How are they going to wrap up the story in ONE BOOK?!?!?!'
The ending was terrible, but I'd really recommend them.
CKC
I have all four books sitting in my bookshelf. I absolutely LOVED the books, although I'd admit that at the end of Shadow Kiss I was chucking a tanty, and literally threw my book across the room... 8-| .....but by the end of Blood Promise it was a much better response, it was a ' 8-| '. I'm really looking forward to Spirit Bound, I'd love to see what she has in store for Rose, Dimitri, Lissa, Christian, and Adrian. I love the way Richelle Mead finishes her books...I mean, books don't always have happy endings, do they? I like it how she leaves us all hanging...I mean, it kills us, but it's actually quite a smart thing to do.
I could go on about this series for ages, so I'll stop now. :)
These are really great!
It was my life for a while!
I cannot wait for the next book to come out!
Maybe, I should give these books a go. But, only on one condition. Is there a lot of romance in them? I just can't stand all the description authors have to give about their characters romance. Too much description I can't handle very well. Better not be like Twilight. Mind you I've never read those books and never well. Does that sound weird to you?
I also heard there's another one of these books coming out. It's called "Spirit Bound". Does anyone know anything about this. And, before I give these Vampire Academy books a go I actually want to know what they're about.

It's about teenagers, so there is some romance :P There's other stuff too, and the vampires aren't nearly as weird as Edward Cullen. Also, Rose doesn't moan as much as Bella either.
Here's the blurb to the first one:
Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with an unbreakable bond to the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest and most dangerous vampires--the ones who never die.
The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a Dhampir; she is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making her one of them.
After two years of illicit freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir's Academy, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. Rose will continue her Dhampir education. Lissa will go back to being Queen of the elite Moroi social scene. And both girls will resume breaking hearts.
Fear made Lissa and Rose run away from St. Vladimir's--but their world is fraught with danger both inside and out of the Academy's iron gates. Here, the cutthroat ranks of the Moroi perform unspeakable rituals and their secretive nature and love of the night creates an enigmatic world full of social complexities. Rose and Lissa must navigate through this dangerous world, confront the temptation of forbidden romance, and never once let their guard down, lest the Strigoi make Lissa one of them forever...
They are a follow-on series, you don't want to read Spirit Bound until you've read the other 4.
I found the writing mediocre and the story FULL of plot holes, but they're a fun read regardless. Definitely superior to Twilight. Rose can be annoying, but I think that may be deliberate. Dimitri is a complete sweetheart, much to my surprise. I thought YA fantasy heroes have to brood more than he does. Of course, there may be a little more brooding in the last book, considering the circumstances.
I finished the last book a few days ago. I thought it needed some editing - there were situations that dragged on needlessly - but I liked it. It was a lot darker than I expected. I was actually frustrated at the end, when we learned Dimitri wasn't dead after all, much as I'd liked him. I'm a little tired of series where two people are Fated to be together and their love is Epic and Boundless. :p I'd rather he died and be mourned, by characters and readers. Rose can end up with Adrian, who is almost as lovely as Dimitri and rather more interesting. I doubt very much that that is going to happen, though. The author will probably come up with a substitute relationship for Adrian, just as Stephanie Meyer did for Jacob. I swear there's going to be so much angst in the last book.
My attitude probably comes from being an adult who reads YA books. I absolutely love the genre, but I'm much more critical than of yore, especially when it comes to excessive teen angst!
