Thanks CatEyes I'll have a look at that. Wasn't Vampire Academy a bookclub book a couple of months back?

Sorry to recover this dormant thread, but is anyone else excited about the release of book 5 today? Spirit Bound is officially out! :D
Anyone going to read the book anytime soon? :P
I will when I've read Vampire Academy then Frosbite, ShadowKiss and Blood Promise.
I saw it for $12 at Angus & Robertson yesterday. Does that make it seem to anyone else like it's going to be a terrible book?

I brought Spirit Bound, Loved how it finished, though I am sick of all the drama
Wish Rose and Dimka would just hurry up and get together!!!!
But then, I like a little romance :P
I'm not sure whether anyone has heard about this but apparently there might be movies.

Richelle Mead has sold the rights to the movies to some American movie company, which means there will be a movie eventually but might not be for another few years at least. The info is on her blog or her facebook page.
I'm not into this series so I really don't look at her blog or facebook page.
Thanks EI! I think the first book would actually lend itself quite well to a movie, but it would risk just being labelled a Twilight copy.

For anyone waiting eagerly for the last Rose Hathaway book, Last Sacrifice is meant to be released on December 7th. The website I get my books from has it advertised at a special price for pre-ordering, and lists the same release date.
I just finally read Spirit Bound and whoa. Can't wait for Last Sacrifice!!
Some quick thoughts:
I'm really happy this wasn't all about Dimitri, I was getting really over that storyline. And I'm happy the next one is going to be more than that too!
I love Adrian, hope she stays with him.

 Spoilers from last sacrifice
I was extremely disappointed in this book. For me it read too much like fanfiction. She got everything she had ever wanted plus more. I know books are supposed to have happy endings but this was just over the top.
I was really cranky at how things went in the Dimitri/Rose/Adrian drama. I was a Dimitri girl until he turned and I know he didn't have control over anything he did but my thoughts were that he's never coming back from that, he'll never be the same Dimitri. Still some irredeemable quality about him. Adrian and Rose, while not the whole soul mate thing, just seemed more logical, more real. I have always backed that relationship since in started in the books.
And how it ended - there wasn't any real tying off loose ends that you usually get in long series, there was still a lot of characters we didn't know what happened to them, and I know they'll be another series set in this world, but it's nice to have some sort of breaking off from the series.
And what Rose and Dimitri did to Adrian, it just seemed out of character for him to walk away so calmly. It was horrible for that to happen to a character that's been around so long. And what was the real point of him being there? The only storyline he had basically was him and Rose and that turned out to nothing too. I just think Richelle Mead rendered him completely useless by the end and that's never what I thought Adrian's role would be. I thought he'd get more time in the book and all we saw was Dimitri and Rose going back to what they used to be. Adrian was hardly in this book at all. I'm a big Adrian backer so obviously I was annoyed.
I will stop my ranting, just by saying that this book was a big disappointment for me, and I don't really understand why it was called last sacrifice, as she didn't really sacrifice anything. The Adrian thing can hardly be called sacrifice. It has really turned me off this series. I really hope she doesn't do the exact same thing in her Succubus series as I'm afraid that's where it's headed.

More Last Sacrifice spoilers :P
I was kind of confused by Last Sacrifice too. I mean, I understood everything that happened, it's not like there was a huge plot twist that I couldn't follow, but once I'd finished reading it, I just kind of felt... nothing. I was really looking forward to reading it, and was pretty excited about it all whist I was reading it, but afterwards there was no sense of satisfaction or loss that I usually feel when I finish a book or a series.
I agree with you EI, I'm not exactly sure why it was called Last Sacrifice. I was waiting for something monumentally heart-wrenching to happen, but it didn't. I thought maybe Jill having to give up her happy private life was somewhat of a sacrifice, but although that was a major part of the book, I don't think it warranted getting the title based on it.
I kind of wanted Dimitri to get back with Rose, but I knew that would really hurt Adrian and I didn't want that either. I was actually kind of expecting Adrian to die in some way. Like if his mother had turned out guilty he'd do something stupid, not directly commit suicide, but do something that would lead to his death. I know what you mean about him turning out to be a rather pointless character. I think his real purpose was merely that he was another spirit-user and was able to contact Rose in spirit dreams, giving her a way to communicate with the people back at Court. His personal feelings and character didn't really enter into it at all.
I've been considering reading the Succubus books. Would you recommend them EI?

I definitely wouldn't recommend them for a PG site ;) Considering what a succubus is anyway. It's somewhat similar to the VA series in that there's a strong female lead and she has one perfect man and one to compete for her attention. Except instead of vampires there's succubi, angels, demons, etc. The last book in the series comes out next year. I'm hoping it doesn't end the same way that VA did. But the first few are good books. So I recommend them to adults who are into the whole sarcasm and demonic scene. Though maybe a trial run of the first book, or even better, they have the first chapter of each book on Richelle Mead's website.
Back to VA:
I would have rathered Daniella to be the killer, actually. Because, as you said Kaede, if she had been, Adrian might have done something stupid to get himself out of the picture. It would have been preferable to be honest. And the Jill thing was another anti-climax, I would have expected the illegitimate child of Eric Dragomir to be more of an o-m-g moment.

I finished reading Last Sacrifice early this morning.
I had mixed feelings about the book. Like the rest of the series I simply couldn’t put it down until I’d finished, but I was disappointed with most of the relationships. I think the only one I was satisfied with was Mikhail and Sonya. Their happy ending made me happy, because it was something I’d wanted from the very first book.
I really didn’t want Dimitri and Rose to get back together because I knew it’d hurt Adrian. I was disappointed with his reaction: I figured it’d probably send him over the edge.
Sydney was brilliant, as was Abe. I’m looking forward to (hopefully) finding out the real reason Sydney was in Abe’s debt in the spin off series, as well as hopefully revisiting the Belikovs.
There were a few times I thought I saw a connection with the title. One was when Lissa had to face her fears of being alone, of Rose being dead, of having to accept a life in Tarasov. Another is entirely Lissa related: her sacrificing her freedom to be queen, to live life as she pleased. Maybe also the loss of Adrian. Then there was the bond: with Rose sacrificing herself to save Lissa, by jumping in front of Tasha’s gun, it was in a sense the last time she’d have to mentally sacrifice herself again (no more taking spirit’s darkness and going crazy herself).
I really would have liked more Eddie and Mia, not just the tiny little moments we get with Eddie, and the one scene with Mia at the end. From being such a major character in the first two books she just dropped off the radar entirely.
I had expected the killer to be Daniella, primarily because such knowledge would definitely have destroyed Adrian: just learning about her lover had affected him badly. How much would it have affected him if she’d killed his beloved great-aunt?
I’m pretty amazed that Richelle Mead could manage to draw out such a simple, flat storyline out as much as she did. I was happy that she apologised for the mistake in Spirit Bound though: the Tomas Sanders/Mikhail Tanner mix-up was really annoying me.
