I can't believe I still have Dragon Haven in my to read pile...its been months since i bought it! For some reason i'm just not desperate to read it (and i have thesis reading to do) which is odd, because normally i can't wait for books like this (i love Hobb and her books!). hmmm. oh well. I have four weeks of 'holidays' (aka. write thesis), so perhaps in desperately avoiding doing my thesis i shall be able to get some time to read it.

I finished Dragon Haven last night, and I absolutely loved it!
Despite his initial intentions, I'm glad that Sedric drank some of Relpda's blood. I think that the dragon, as well as Carson, have helped to make him a better person. And he finally seems to be getting over his problems with honesty! Finally Sedric! I'm either too honest or too trusting, or the people in books are completely unrealistic with the secrets they keep, but in a lot of books I read, I can't believe how often people keep the truth to themselves. And it always causes problems ::)
Tats (and some of the other male keepers) really annoy me. I can't believe they don't underatand the risks involved with getting pregnant, especially in the situation they're all in. When Bellin forced Sylve and Thymara to watch Jerd's miscarriage, I think she should have made the boys watch too. I mean, that probably would have made Jerd even angrier and more self-conscious, but they need to see the possible consequences for their actions. Even after Thymara had explained it to Tats, he still didn't get it! I know they come from a society different to ours, but after having it so bluntly said to your face, it should be obvious.
I'm so happy that Detozi and Erek are getting married. For some reason, for all of The Dragon Keeper, I though Detozi was male. I started to suspect in Dragon Haven though, and then when she said that her family think she needs to hurry up and get a husband, well then it became obvious :P I really liked the interludes that their letters created. Someone said in one of the comments on the previous page that they though Robin Hobb's writing was a bit repetative, and although I don't find it annoying, I did notice that a bit in this book. At the start of The Dragon Keeper when all the main characters were doing mainly separate things, and in different locations, it was easy to keep it all original. Once they all got together on the barge, there was really no way to break the monotony of the journey (monotony isn't the best word for this, it makes it sound like I found it boring, but I definately didn't. I just can't think of another word ~:| ). I think without Detozi and Erek's letters, the book may have seemed like one deep breath, with no gaps to breath out again.
I'm a bit worried about Leftrin and Alise going back to Trehaug. There's no denying that Alise has changed on the journey and become a stronger person, but I'm afraid when she gets back to "civilisation", she will feel guilty about her decisions again. And she needn't be! I hope she never encounters Hest again, because although Hest will feel thwarted by her and Sedric, he will make it seem like all their fault, and I have no doubt that he would have already publicly denounced or shamed them. Keep away from Hest!
