So, I am appalled with myself for my lack of posting for so long. Apologies, everyone. |:| Anyway, I started and completed - the first draft of - another novel, and have started the next novel in that new series. I'm also about ten chapters into my third Jessica Parker novel. I'll put the Preface of my new novel which has been named 'Rancour' on here. It's the longest one I've ever written, too. :) Please give me thoughts and what-not, too. The series is called 'Isabelle'. :)

PREFACE
She wandered casually into his house, a basket in her hands. She nodded confirmation as she glanced around the room, and carelessly chucked the basket onto the coffee table in the living room. She sprawled herself onto his extravagant couch to wait for his return, and smiled comfortably to herself, ‘This is one of the reasons I dated him. He’s so wealthy! And he never even told me why.’ She frowned…no, she pouted…at the last part of her thoughts. She always got what she wanted. Always. Well, that was until he showed up. He wouldn’t give her anything! She knew he was different…she just didn’t know how different. He wouldn’t even tell her how he got so much money! She would have forgotten about him a long time ago, it’s true. She probably would have killed him. Of course, then that happened. She glanced distastefully at the basket on the coffee table, glad that it had been silent ever since it…arrived. To anyone else, it was a natural thing to happen. It happened all of the time. But in her world, it had never happened before. She was supposed to be infertile! In fact, she’d checked before, and she had been infertile! But then he came along…and then this…abomination came along. She frowned again. Normally, when someone seemed different to her, she just shrugged and forgot about it. But this…this was by far different. She had to find out just how different he was. He must have been quite different to make her fertile…even for a little while. She knew for a fact she was no longer fertile. She didn’t get it checked, of course – you can’t exactly get that checked straight after something like that –…it was just one of those things she knew.
She heard footsteps at the door…at the door? Why had she only heard the footsteps from the door? She should have heard them from a fair while away…plus she should have sensed him coming…the door opened, and in walked a man that she swore she knew before…but…it couldn’t be him, could it? What was wrong with him? He seemed to be enveloped in…something. Something she’d never noticed before. She pushed the confusion aside, and stretched like a cat across the couch. “Fancy seeing you here,†she said with a grin.
He watched her quite casually, “Considering it’s my house.â€
Her grin widened, “I see you still haven’t figured a way to get me out of here, then?â€
“So there is a way, then!†he said, with mock triumph.
She sprung up off the couch and trailed her fingertips across the back of the couch, “I never said there wasn’t.â€
He sighed, about to say something, then noticed the basket, “A present for me? You shouldn’t have, really.â€
She shrugged, “Well I don’t want it.â€
He turned back to her, “Where have you been for the past year?â€
She shrugged, “A female goes where a female goes.â€
He watched her cautiously, “You know, I was foolish enough to think you loved me. I was even considering proposing!â€
She grinned conspiratorially, “Don’t they always?â€
“Where did you go,†he said forcefully, not even putting it as a question.
She jerked her head towards him, a spark of annoyance in her eyes, “I’d be asking more of the why and less of the where, if I were you.â€
He raised his chin bravely, “I know what you are, Liz. I know what you are. So what, then? Why did you leave? Did you go off on a killing spree? Were you sick of me?â€
Her ice-blue eyes flashed for a moment, and she wondered how he’d figured out. She’d done a lot to make sure that her lovers never figured out what she was. She smiled again, “And how did you ever find out what I was?†She walked up to him casually, leaning towards him, knowing that anyone who knew what she was, knew as a threat rather than a sexual movement. “What am I, exactly?†He didn’t quiver as she leaned into him more, in fact he grew more confident and more…glowy? He looked her in the eyes calmly, and she grew agitated, “What am I?â€
He stepped away from her easily, and leaned next to the door. He pretended to be teaching a class. “Eliza Jacuuzer,†he announced. “More commonly known as Elizabeth. Hair of a rich dark brown and cold, ice-blue eyes. Born in the 1600s, and supposedly died in a fire with her family in England at the age of eighteen. What really happened, however, was that she was turned into a vampire. She became one of the crueller vampires. In fact, she ended up joining the newly created Vampire Renegades group that opposed the actual Vampire Government, their laws, and their ruling system. They became known as Renegades and Vlads, the group naming themselves after their leader, and famous Renegade vampire even in the human world, Vladimir. She happily drew humans into her bed, and a lot of the time she would trick them into letting her drink their blood, or killing them on spot. Of course, she didn’t need them in her bed to drain them of their blood. Now, she is around 400 years old. She is also standing in front of me right now.â€
Shock flickered through her eyes faster than lightning, so fast that it had been almost invisible. But he saw it alright. Her cool façade came back, and she grinned. “You got me in a nutshell.â€
He folded his arms again, “You seem surprised.â€
She shrugged, “Not many people - especially my lovers - find out about me. When they do, all they really know is ‘I’m a vampire’, and then I kill them. No one’s ever really gone to such lengths to learn so much about me…and the vampire politics, which might I add, are kept very quiet.†She smiled, “It’s cute, really.†She sobered and studied him, “However, now that we’re on the subject…†she stared at him, “What are you?â€
He grinned, “So you figured something was amiss with me as well, did you?â€
She shrugged, “No one should be able to make me have… that,†she jerked her thumbs disgustedly towards the direction of the abomination. His eyes glanced towards the basket with more interest now, but she didn’t give him a chance, “Don’t even think about changing the subject.†His eyes went back to her, “What are you?†She said, beginning to lose her patience.
He grinned knowingly, “I thought you’d know, since you’re so mighty powerful,†he laughed at the last bit. He spread his arms out to either side of him, “Come on Lizzy, use your vampy powers to figure it out.â€
She frowned and pulled in all of the vampire Darkness she could muster – which was a lot. She felt herself growing stiller and paler, and she took a deep, savouring breath as she threw off her illusion that only vampires could see past. She was finally her. She knew if someone saw her like this, they could rate her as ‘otherworldly’, and that’s because she looked otherworldly. Her aura was completely darkness, and not the kind that was used for other stuff…like magic and stuff. This was the vampire Darkness that only vampires wielded, and only when being a full vampire, and not hiding it from the petty mortals’ eyes. The last part of the transformation from ‘irresistible human’ to ‘otherworldly vampire’ was the sharpening of her fangs. Her fangs slid out from their hiding spots in her teeth, and took their rightful place in full view if the mouth was opened. She opened her mouth and breathed in his scent slowly…and was brought up with something weird. It seemed to be a mix of the smell of moonlight and – ugh, oh, ugh! – wolf/wet dog, and sunlight and nature and…irresistible sweetness. She stared at him and took another breath, only to come up with the same thing. She stared at him as part of the puzzle that was him came together. She glared accusingly at him, “You’re part wolf.†She said the last word with disgust.
He smiled, “Yes, I am in fact half werewolf. But what is the other half of me? It’s not human, is it?â€
She shook her head, “Humans smell delicious. Wolves smell like wet dog, but they still taste great. But your other half…it smells so much sweeter…†she frowned, “Why on earth haven’t I eaten you already?â€
He laughed with amusement, though not of the good kind, “Because I don’t fall for your thralls and mind compulsions. I simply didn’t let you.â€
She growled, “Why did you date me? Ugh, I dated a half-wolf, and I didn’t even know it!â€
He shrugged, “I thought you were one of the good guys. I had the stupid idea you were different.â€
She stared at him like he was dirt, “Ugh!â€
He looked at her with cold amusement, “You still haven’t figured out the other half of me! Come on, not good enough!â€
She thought deeply, and then recognized the scent. ‘I forget this stuff for a reason! If I remembered every single person I ate, tried to eat, and slept with, my mind would have to be mightily large!’ she grumbled to herself. Then she thought harder about the person. “I tried to eat someone like you before…but their scent was so much stronger. They hit me with something big and gold, and disappeared…†Her eyes widened as she understood, “You’re not!â€
He smiled, “I am. My mother was faery. My father was wolf. They loved each other anyway, despite all of the controversy there was about them, and the fact that each race kept to themselves, in fear of abominations happening like me.â€
Her eyes narrowed angrily at him, “Well then, that explains that!†She pointed at the abomination again. She glared at him, “I’m going to make your life bl**** h*** for that abomination, and I’ll make its life hell, too.†She ran towards the basket and tossed it at him carelessly, covered herself in darkness, and disappeared into the darkness. He lifted the lid of the basket slowly, his eyes widening as he saw what was inside.
Inside was the tiniest baby he’d ever seen, dressed only in a pink blanket the baby had been wrapped in. A girl, then. The baby was sound asleep. She’d slept through all of it. His face softened. She looked so peaceful. He pulled her out of the basket gently, and held her tightly to his chest. “It’s going to be alright,†he whispered to the sleeping baby.
