I just saw this movie and found it very good! A fun action adventure film for those who don't take their movie watching too seriously. ;)
Based on a series of books - Percy discovers himself to be the son of one of the Greek Gods and then gets caught up in a quest to get back Zeus stolen lightning bolt.
I haven't read the books, but from what I have seen it appears to be a bit different. Has anyone read them?
I enjoyed the movie alot! I tend to love these type of films - and with my particular love of Greek Mythology it was lots of fun!
I recommend!

I thought this looked good and I can't wait to see it. I've never read the books either but I've been thinking about a visit to the library to see if they are available.
I haven't read the books either, but now that there's a movie I'm reading the books. I just checked my library's catalogue and they seem very popular so I might have to wait a while to get the books. I will be putting them on my list of books to read. ;D

I havn't seen the movie yet (I'm really looking forward to seeing it though!), however I read the first book the other day. My mum bought it for my sister...but I stole it and read it first. :P
Even though it was aimed at a younger audience than I am in I thought it was fairly entertaining. The book seemed to really rush through event after event, much quicker than I would've liked, but then I put that down to the audience it was aimed at. The general story was pretty good though, and I liked the characters :)
I'm guessing one of the differences between movie and book is Percy Jackson's age? :P In the book he's 12, and although I'm not sure how old he's supposed to be in the movie...that guy doesn't look 12 to me |:|
I really want to see this movie!!
I'm not sure a movie would go well if they had a 12 yr old fighting.
An older guy would probably appeal to older people, whereas if they had a 12 yr old, it would only appeal to younger people!
Yeah, the age thing definitely changed! I think he's supposed to be about 15 or 16 in the movie. The actor who plays him is 18.
Cool - looks like I'll have to get the books then! :)

I really liked the movie! Granted, it was pretty cheesy in some parts, but I was expecting it to be :P
My friend who has read the books (and also leant me a copy) said that although the movie and book were different, she couldn't say that one was better than the other.
i've read the books and seen the movie.
although the movie was quite different from the books,
[sub](which i expected)[/sub]
i really liked it.
the humour was great
and the characters were good.
I saw this movie tonight with my friend. Besides us I counted SIX OTHER PEOPLE IN THE CINEMA! No joke, I have never seen a cinema so empty before. I couldn't get over it.
Anyway, I found the movie alright, nothing too special. Effects were good. Wasn't that big a fan of the cheesiness but I was expecting it I guess.
For some reason me and my friend could not stop laughing throughout most of it. It was probably due to all the sugar we consumed from the lollies/lack of sleep/ there were parts that were so serious!
At the beginning when Percy is sitting in the pool me and my friend laughed for so long (silently), I had tears in my eyes and it was just so funny hehehe
I don't think I will see the sequel but, maybe if it was on tv.
My mum's won tickets to see this movie so hopefully we'll be seeing it tomorrow. I'll tell you whether it is good.
Ive read all the books, but havnt seen the movie, hoping to soon. It sounds like a good movie, and the books were absolutely awsome!!!! Anyone who has seen the movie but not the books really should read them.
I haven't read the books, but I liked the movie; I took of my sisters to see it when it arrived at our community theatre. We all thought that the guy who played Percy was pretty cute :D I keep meaning to read the books but I'm pretty lazy at the moment.
The movie is now out on DVD.
I have wanted to see the movie since it first came out, and now am finally going to watch it tomorrow. I would like to read the books one day too, I think.

There's a lot of subtle differences between the book and the movie, I saw the movie first and then read the books. I think it worked out better that way, as usually when I read the book first the movie disappoints me (like with the Vampire's Assistant).
It's a shame the DVD that just came out doesn't have much in the way of special features though.
I'm slowing progressing through all of the books. I'm up to book five.
I watched the movie and i enjoyed it, but then again i don't really mind cheesy movies. Now i have seen it i want to read the books (great another series to add to my very very really long list!)
I haven't seen the movie YET but the books are pretty good Beth. :D
