I"m really not sure if I liked it or not so I'm going to see it again next week x_X
Did anyone else think that Luna looked pregnant? and that the one shot of a very grown up Neville just wasn't enough]
OML I almost wet myself when Nagani jumped toward the camera. Thank goodness it wasn't in 3D
Interesting place to finish. can't wait to see the end.

I saw it last night, and have mixed feelings.
I liked the movie, but noticed in general how dark it was - remember the first two movies, how they were so colourful and innocent?
Luna had the best lines... as usual :) I really liked the actors for some people (Xen Lovegood, the guys that Harry and Ron morphed into in the Ministry) and really liked what they did with the story of the three brothers.
They ended it well - very abrupt, but kind of enough to sort of get you into the mystery-sequel mood.
I also found the locket morph thing very awkward... and especially after Harry and Hermione danced, I heard the person next to me mutter, 'Don't kiss don't kiss don't kiss don't kiss'. Unfortunately, I was thinking the same thing. Liked the funny bits, though.
I was also near scream when Nagini jumped out... I hate snakes, so not the best part for me :-/

I saw it yesterday, and I loved it! My boy hasn't read the books, but we did re-watch the movies before we went. Still, he understood what was going on, and didn't have any questions for me at the end (so anyone who doesn't have time to re-read the book, I don't think you need to stress about it :P )
My favourite scene was probably when they broke into the Ministry. I saw a trailer/interview in which it was explained that Daniel Radcliff, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint acted out the scene first, and the three actors who were the bodies they'd "taken over" watched, and copied the mannerisms and movements of the younger actors, so that what we got to see in the film was as close as possible to what it would be like if the three younger characters had actually taken over the bodies of the Ministry workers!
I had a truly awful though last night - will part two of the movie include the epilogue? I don't think I want it to.
Wow! I saw it last night (and the night before ;)) and I was really impressed!!
It was just generally really well done - we knew going in to it that there was going to be a lot of sad scenes so it was great that they were able to keep us entertained at the same time!
I loved the Ministry scene - Albert or whatever his name was did Harry's walk so well!! I have always thought that Daniel Radcliffe had an extraordinarily weird gate and that guy had it just right! I was giggling the whole time! And Ron with his "this will be one to tell the kids" to his "wife" down in the courtroom! So funny!!
And the Bathilda-nagini bit! Wow that was scary when the snake burst through the hole in the floor! The second time I saw it I was sitting next to my little brother and he threw the lollies he was holding all over me and him when he levitated off his seat!! XD As a fifteen year old he was trying desperately to regain his dignity!
The only bit I had an issue with (like a couple of you) was the locket-evil-essence with Harry and Hermione kissing. I guess kissing sort of falls short of the mark as a descriptor somehow though. I just thought it was over the top and that it was just another instance of the films' tendency to over-promote Hermione. It looked like a playstation game too and I was just sitting there rolling my eyes for the rest of the scene.
But apart from that hilarious and heartbreaking in equal measure...
SO I saw it today too, and -------la la la
I really enjoyed it. There were some details I noticed were mising, but at least they didn't leave Bill out of this movie (like they did in the 4th). I thought the Malfoy Manor scene would be more dramatic with Hermione meant to be cruciod- they only spent like a max of 10 mins there (wasn't wormtail meant to die there with his hand choking his own throat? i can't remember. Anyway; the movie was pretty dark overall, but I did like the lighthearted moments. I LOVED the Ministry scene - it was hilarious! That's really interesting to know BB - about the older actors copying the younger ones mannerisms - Ron was CLASSIC as always (getting carried away with his role :P "Oh no! My poor wife is downstairs!" "Ron, you don't have a wife"..."Oh yeah." :P I loved the "This is gonna be hard to explain to the kids" and that kiss was funny :P
The whole cinema literally went "AWWW" when Dobby died.
I actually thought the movie would end on a high note - when they escape on the Dragon. But I think wherever they ended was a fairly good place to stop at.
Oh Blackbird - yes they WILL include the Epilogue in Part 2; because I know that Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy)'s real life girlfriend is going to be playing Astoria Greengrass his wife. I don't know how good that will be, but anyway.
Oh and Hermione is really pretty! Did anyone else notice how many costume changes she had? I'd think that when you're on the run, you travel light...
I LOVED Luna - there wasn't enough of her, but she does have the best lines...
I can't wait for the next movie! :D Wouldn't it be ironic if they released it on July 31st? I think they should do that, just to commemorate Harry's birthday :P
I enjoyed it, even in my tired state. I went with my sister who works at Village now, and we saw a staff screening, meaning it screened at like 11.30 on a weeknight. So I must admit, I couldn't stop myself from falling asleep once or twice. I did enjoy it though, and I did get to see most of it.
The book is not really action packed for the first part, so I think it was kind of slow moving. And really, they had no real valid justification to extend it into two movies, especially since Goblet of Fire (I think??) was a bigger book than Deathly Hallows. It is all just a money making scheme. I believe if they had made it into one movie, it would have been even better - not so slow paced.
I didn't see this, but my cousin made a comment afterwards that:
the part where Bellatrix was over the screaming Herminone while torturing her, reminded my cousin of the scene in Twilight when James is biting Bella and she's squealing and screaming in pain. Thinking back now, I can imagine it being similar and can see why she saw that!
Also,
I cried buckets when Dobby died. It's been a while since I read the book, so it wasn't until just BEFORE he died that I grabbed my sister and said "oh no, I remember he dies!" and then he died... and it was so sad. :'(
I think it's worth watching if you've seen the other movies and if you like the books.

I just saw it tonight and it was far better than I was expecting.
There were some sections where I thought if I hadn't read the book, I'd be completely lost. The shard of mirror wasn't explained at all, it was just thrown in this movie, and despite the fact that they kept Ron getting splinched in, they didn't explain what it was. That was a nasty looking wound though [act]shudders[/act]
I nearly started crying at the very start of the film when Hermione was erasing herself from her parent's memories. I found it a bit odd that they kept that bit in, but not Ron's family using the "diseased" ghoul as a stand-in for Ron. It can probably be justified in the movie that she didn't want her parents to worry about what she was doing, and the fact that they were muggles who had some wizard association (especially with her looking at the newspaper article), but still, Ron seems to be the less-favoured by screen time of the three.
I loved that they kept in Fleur's line "Don't look at me Bill, I'm hideous!" when she changed into Harry XD
The section with Bathilda Bagshot was awful, despite the fact that I knew what was going to happen. If I hadn't known, I think I would have done a little scream.
I've also never really liked Voldemort's voice. I know it's silky and kind of frightening, but it's just not menacing enough.
Oh, one more disjointed comment :P Has anyone seen the first Very Potter Musical? When Harry and Hermione came out of the locket in front of Ron, all I could think of was the equivalent scene in the Very Potter musical when Hermione's got her head in the Zac Efron portrait and says "Don't you want me, Ron?" So that section had me in giggles. I think the other people in the cinema thought I was insane.
I saw the movie again tonight, and I've finally been drawn out of my "it's so new & shiny cloud of hyperventilation" that I can actually think clearly.
I prefer the way Hedwig dies in the movie over the way she dies in the book. In the book her death is all the more pitiful because she's in her cage and can't get away. I loved that in the movie Harry lets her go and she comes back to protect him! (Although I was hoping she would just fly away and not have to die at all.)
Does anyone know who the snatcher in the plaid pants that catches Harry, Ron, & Hermione in the woods, and calls Hermione beautiful is supposed to be? I haven't read the book in so long, I don't know his name, but I know I've seen that actor in something before so I want to look him up.
Also, in the book, does Hermione erase her parents memories of her? I really need a reread, I can't remember anything!

Aoife, re: Your question about Hermione and her parents: Yes she does, and she sends them to Australia I think as well.

Aoife, yes, Hermione does erase her parents' memories in the book. She sends them off to Australia, with no memory of ever even having a daughter, so that they can't be used against her/Harry when it is realised that they are gone. I nearly cried in the cinema when I watched that scene!
Also, I know exactly which snother you are talking about, and he seemed familiar to me too. Unfortunately, too many of the IMDB profiles for 'Death Eater' do not have actor pictures, and the one listed 'Snatcher' doesn't seem to look the same...

Aoife, la de da da da
In the book it is Fenir Greyback the Werewolf. He's the one that bit both Lupin and Bill in the books.
Saw it yesterday and LOVED IT TO PIECES. I've only read this book once when it came out, but everything seemed to come back to me. I re-watched movie five and was going to watch 6 but didn't get a chance. So I actually spent the first five minutes going "Wait, what happened in six? All I remember is the potions book but surely something happened with Voldemort... Ummm..." (but rest assured, they do mention the thing I finally thought of that meant all of book/movie 6 came back to me)
Spoiler for 6, Half Blood Prince:
That Dumbledore dies and the whole horcrux thing was introduced
Spoilers for Deathly Hallows:
Mono - re your Hermione had too many clothes changes comment - she's got a magic bag that can fit a tent, bookcase and all kinds of things in it. I don't think an extra T-shirt was going to affect things! :P I was actually impressed they were wearing practical clothes, flannels and woolen jumpers. The only costume thing that got to me was before the wedding, so before they're on the run, Harry was wearing the most ugly velvet vest ever. Why?!
BB - I saw the same thing about getting the young actors to act out ministry scenes and then the older ones to do it. They were soooo fantastic at it! They had all the little mannerisms and everything down pat, it was great! Loved Ron and all the things with his wife.
Kaede - I agree with the mirror thing. Like I said, it's been aaaages since I read the book, and I was really confused about that. I was like "Didn't this mirror only go to Sirius? Who's answering the other end now then?"
Also Kaede - I think they needed to keep in Hermione's thing because people would be asking "but why aren't her parents freaking out that she isn't home for Christmas?!" and also it provides some character development for her. Ron's family gets a lot of air time all the time, and I think the reason they got rid of him being impersonated is that they decided to just go with the ministry and Voldemort knows they're on the run and is looking for them. It's much simpler. Also, obliterating the memory of yourself from your parents was just so tragic!!
I didn't mind the evil locket scene. I did love Hermione's angry reaction after it, that was great. But I think it would have been a bit depressing to end there, with Hermione all angry at Ron and not much having happened. And the title not even having been explained! (Which, I agree, the animation was amazing on) I prefer where they did end it, except the very very ending actually annoyed me. Voldemort pours all this charge in to the clouds, so that they're so full they're actually going white, and then what does he think is going to happen?! You stop doing that and suddenly there's a massive charge separation and you're standing with your wand (probably a bit of a lightning conductor anyway) pointed to the sky on the top of a hill. Oh yeah, this is going to end well. :P
And Deb - I did feel sorry for Neville and Ginny, they're in the movie for like 5 seconds (particularly Neville!)
One last thing, I had a thought with the whole Fred-loses-an-ear (or was it George?) thing. Why doesn't he make polyjuice potion and take it with a piece of the twin's hair in it all the time like guy-who-was-impersonating-MadEye in book 4? It's only a small change since they have the same DNA, and he'd have a proper ear!

That's a brilliant idea about George and the Polyjuice potion! In the book, wasn't his ear blown right off, and in the movie it was still attached and there was just blood everywhere? I know that's easier to pull off, just adding a bit of fake blood, but anyway :P
I keep forgeting to say, in the next movie I'm really looking forward to seeing Helena Bonham-Carter (I don't know how to spell her name :-? ) acting out the bit where she's actually Hermione disguised as Bellatrix. It'll be so weird to see her not being completely awful! :P
I defiantly agree with Kaede! About Helena being Hermione XD! Well i saw it two weeks back and have finally gotten a hold of ober again.
When that part with Nagini jumping out, my mum and my broth literally jumped out of their seats!
I think that it was done really well, and i was glad not to be disappointed! I must admit i was cringing when i saw the harry and Hermione kissing part.
It was sooo tragic when Dobby died! At first i thought they weren't going to put it in, because it looked like the knife missed, but then i remember how it was in the book and i was like NNNnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooo!
I defiantly like the parts when polyjuice potion was added, it was sooo funny, especially Fleur and her 'Look away Bill, I'm hideous!'
I think it was good how they followed the book, and didn't leave out characters. i was worried that they were going to leave Bill and Fleur out of it and their would be no shell cottage!.
I actually
totally forgot all about the knife and Dobby dying, right until the part Dobby gets them out of their prison. And then I was all like 'NOOOOOOOOO, he dies, I remember!'
I'm with Kelda, I totally forgot that happened until it actually happened on the screen. Tragic.

So I finally saw the film yesterday and loved it :D
I think my favourite scene (other than the Ministry) was in the opening, where Herminoe wipes her parents memories. It was so touching, and nearly made me cry as we saw Hermione fade from all the pictures. :"(
I wish they'd put in Dudley's personality transplant, I would've loved to see it.
I had been looking forward to seeing Ted and Adromeda Tonks, so I was rather disappointed they didn't go to the Tonks' house before the Burrow. Ted was missing the whole film, so they don't know what the significance of Lupin's son's name will be. And Dean Thomas was missing, but then again he wasn't so important :P
Lupin! Whay happened to him? Harry didn't even get to find out that we know of that Remus and Tonks married, thanks to Mad-Eye and his dislike of sentimentality. And then he didn't turn up and Grimmauld place. So how much of a surprise will it be that Tonks has had a baby?! (They better put it in there though.)
Luna and her dad were great :D They didn't put Viktor Krum at the wedding though, so he couldn't make a fuss about the sign of the Deathly Hallows. :(
But I loved Severus, Fred+George, Draco and Neville's one line. That was a great line XD
I can't wait to see part 2 though :) I really want to see how they tie it off, and how they put in Wormtail's death. And I want to see Lily, James, Sirius and Lupin again at the end :)
Arwen:
The part where Mad-Eye interrupts Tonks about the marriage thing was confusing for me. Tonks says something like 'Oh, that's my silly husband' and then 'Hey, we have great news...' and I was thinking: so, what's the news if we already know you're married? Did anyone else notice this?
Fate:
The news is that Tonks is pregnant.
Arwen - I clearly need to reread the book because you're saying all these things didn't happen and I don't remember any of them!!
It was quite subtle how they dropped in the Lupin/Tonks married and Tonks pregnant thing but I picked up on it. Actually, didn't someone say something like "in your condition" to Tonks at one point? Or am I making that up?
