I thought I'd start a new thread as the other little fur thread was topic specific.
I just finished reading the series for the first time. I'd tried reading Little Fur before but could never get into it. This time I managed all four books.
I still struggled to read Little Fur, I don't know why. The others I enjoyed a lot more. I thought the common themes to IC's other work was well done in these books, and I loved the polystyrene in A Riddle of Green.
Sorrow almost made me cry but i think 'happily ever after' for him and Nobody (though I was confused with her name change from one book to the next). The Owlet was so cute and so brave. And Little Fur found her past. Awwwwww
I managed to finish reading the first book. Like Deb, I actually do kinda struggle to get through the books, which is really unlike me with IC's books. I've started the second book, but have stopped again.
I don't know what it is about these books. I think they're okay... maybe because they're aimed at a younger audience that there feels like something lacking - maybe more of a connection that I usually fell when I read IC's books?

I've just finished reading the series, much to my mum's relief- not because she wanted me to, but because we raced about Sydney looking for the first editions.
Lately I haven't been reading much, part of the reason being lack of time, but there's been something stopping me. I didn't start reading A Fox Called Sorrow until yesterday, but I finally found that I could keep reading for hours again. And I've been reading more today. In a way I preferred the Little Fur books to Isobelle's others because of it's simplicity, and I especially loved seeing similarities between them and the Ober Chrons, in little things like the world's dream.
Did anyone else think of Lord of the Rings when reading book one? When I read about the tree guardian my mind jumped to the mysterious and absent entwives in LotR.
I absolutely loved Little Fur when I read them. Yes, Arwen, the books remind me of LOTR too. This is my favourite series that Isobelle Carmody wrote. It's absolutely beautiful
Have actually just read the first three books (before TRQ that is) and loved them. The first one was an audiobook read by Isobelle which then coloured the next books when I could just hear her narrating things. Yes targeted to a younger audience, but still enjoyable.
