I loved it so much too!! Someone read somewhere that this is the last Disney movie of this kind... I must admit except maybe one or two songs, the songs didn't particularly strike anything in me. Unlike all those fantastic Disney cartoon old school songs when I was younger.
"Here comes the baker with his tray like always"
I saw it the other day- it was quite fun- and all the kids in the cinema were laughing. Especially at the horse and the camelian/lizard thing.
Yes- jossie i too read about this being Disney's last 'princess/fairy tale' film. Apparently princess films just aren't as marketable/money making anymore...original tangled was more princess-y/rapanuzel like and they re-did stuff to make it more 'strong/tough girl against the odds' rather than prince rescue princess.
whilst it was enjoyable, I also don't think the songs were as memorable as other disney films. But maybe I'm just too used to the old disney songs/movies that I grew up with. :P
"Skillets, who knew huh?!
I also wasn't particularly moved by any of the songs, but I loved absolutely everything else about this movie!! I like that Rapunzel was quirky & brave, and ended up saving herself and Finn in a few situations. Pascal was soooo cute!! I want a chameleon now!
I don't know if anyone here has ever seen House MD on tv, but I thought Rapunzel's "mom" looked an awful lot like Dr. Lisa Cuddy from House.
I also teared up at quite a few parts of the movie, especially when Rapunzel's biological parents were lighting the lantern and the King was crying :"(
I thought this was back to Disney's pre 2000 standards and I was really ecstatic about that :D I actually enjoyed a Disney movie for the first time in a long time that wasn't overly innuendo like or stuffed with Adult jokes like Shrek etc.
I'm really sad that this is Disney's last princess film. There are some things that as a kid growing up, you need, and Disney fairy tale / princess movies is one of them. Can you imagine a life devoid of those songs and very well drawn cartoons? :( :-{ :"( 3D animations just don't cut it.
I too wasn't into any of the songs, but I liked the story and the characters. That was enough for me. The only thing I didn't like was the eyeballs of Rapunzel's fake mother - they were too protruberant. :P
I saw this film overseas whilst I was in Europe, and although it was in another language (the songs too, that was fun:P) I really enjoyed it! I loved the horse (Max, I think his name was?), he was just one of those typical Disney animals that add so much human-like humour...
The story itself was really good - much more creative and definitely more suspenseful than the original Rapunzel story. I agree that the eyes of her fake mother were creepy... and did anyone else notice that -
When Finn cuts off Rapunzel's hair, it just happens to fall into a perfect style, as though she'd just had a three hour session with a hairdresser? :P
I didn't know this was the last princess movie! :"( B-b-but... are next generation's children going to grow up watching the seventh Shrek sequel*? [act]hyperventilates[/act] It's not even Disney!
*I thought they said the fourth was the last one, but you never know!
I can understand this being the last one, they have done all of the really famous fairytales, although they could venture into some of the more obscure ones and fiddle with the plots like they did with Rapunzel/Tangled. I agree that the songs don't grab you as much, however the duet in the boat (when not sounding exactly like 'A whole new world') was nice. My absolute favourite scene however; was in the square with the dancing. I bought that track off ITunes.
I have seen Tangled, and I loved it. I actually cried, a) when it showed her parents missing her on her birthday, and b) when it looked like he was going to die :'''( I was really upset to read that disney had cancelled making the Snow Queen and that this would be the last one, but I also read recently that that wasn't strictly true, and that they needed to space them more...so a little confused, and still disappointed about the Snow Queen!!!!
Who knows why Disney does what it does? Look at their whole DVD release scheme, deliberately holding back on reprinting some titles and then only doing a "limited release" (e.g., The Little Mermaid)...

grrrrrrr **hates on the disney vault** tis silly to lock away dvds. gah. whenever I try to find something (well, maybe not whenever..but) it is just gone into the vault or something :(
I adored Tangled. It seemed almost like...a step back in time for me. I have the songs from it in my head constantly, and I giggle when I think of particular moments (such as the smoulder...honestly :P ). I haven't felt that good/positive about a Disney movie in a long time...
Disney movies have been such a big disappointment for so long that it was amazingly refreshing to have one crop up that actually made me feel anything toward it.
