Not exactly a minute, but will suffice. I am back, and here is a bit more of the fanfic, including the start to save u the bother of scrolling up to read it again.
A bit more, of my version of the ending of Obernewtyn.
The Entina’s den was dark, darker than the evil that gathered. Dragon was behind me, clutching her royal scepter as if it was the only thing binding her to life. I stood in front of her, my momentary bravado subsiding into mindless fear. The bone key of the Red Queen’s grave was clutched in my hand, my knuckles white as the bone itself. The golden key of Hannah Seraphim in my other hand, the element warm against my palm.
On the other side of the metal room, Ariel sat down on his throne, an amused and vicious look on his face as he coerced Matthew into doing what the brave farseeker would never do. The past ward stood in front of the amazingly operational computer-machine, his hands poised above the lettered button-pad, his tanned face, normally placid, was placed in a coerced snarl.
“Come on, Elspeth, you will be helping the world. All evil gone. Tell us the password, give us the keys, GIVE US THE QUEEN!†Ariel and Matthew hissed in unison, one hand reaching each for one key.
“Never!†I screamed back hysterically, clutching the keys and Dragon. I would never give in. Ariel’s amused look immediately turned murderous. I felt his mind reinforce his control of Matthew’s mind, and the ward immediately stiffened. His eyes became glazed. I felt Ariel beginning to kill Matthew.
“NO!†I cried, feeling hot tears fall down my cheeks. Dragon stepped resolutely from my hold, and stepped forward.
“You will not hurt Matthew!†she commanded in her new queenly voice. Her hair seemed to blaze with inner light, her eyes shimmering with barely concealed tears. She still loved him, I realized. “If you let him go, I will tell you.†Ariel looked at her with slanted eyes, calculating and cold. His thin lips twisted, into a malignant smirk.
“As you wish, majesty,†he said with a sarcastic bow. He released his mental hold on the past farseeker ward slightly. “Now, tell me what the first Red Queen told you, through her descendants. Dragon came up to the computer-machine, and typed in something slowly. Matthew, released from his mental slavery, saw her.
“No!†he shrieked, like me a moment ago. I echoed him. All the H’rayka needed now was the keys, and the Gypsy password. Little chance he was going to get it. Ariel began to grin, a malice-loaded smirk of triumph.
“Come on, Elf, give me the keys. Tell me the gypsy password.†He wove his words with coercive command, his gentle yet malignant mind-probe butting against my shield. I felt the sticky evil sweetness of his probe. My stomach heaved, but I had already emptied it.
“I will never!†I screamed at Ariel. I felt a new probe butting against my shield. Matthew.
“Elf?†I heard his gentle sending deep in my mind. He was good to get past my shield. He was behind my shield.
“Get out.†I sent, weaving another close shield around my inner thoughts.
“No, Elf. Tell me.†He whispered.
“No, Matthew.†I felt someone else controlling him. Another mind. Daffyd.
The ex-druid armsman appeared from a concealed panel, behind a wall of computer-machine screens. His face, normally wracked with pain and fear for his beloved Gilane, was now alight with malice. Ariel immediately bowed to him. The Destroyer.
“Elspeth. We meet again. This time as enemies. The Seeker and the Destroyer.†He hissed. “Now, unlike these idiotic imbeciles, I shall be able to squeeze the password and keys from you. Tell me!â€ÂÂ<br> Like Ariel and Matthew, my mind was instantly thrown into slavery. I felt something compressing my individual thoughts, and I began to totter over to the computer-machine. No. I gathered my killing power, from deep in my mind, and wreathed a coercive probe with the deadly potent stuff. As soon as I was going to let the lethal probe go, Daffyd placed a block on the probe. I was looking straight at the computer-machine screen. Slowly, doggedly, I began to type. The gadi words of the gypsy password flowed, and I felt a lock slowly open at the back of the room.
Far away in the mountains, in the fortress called Obernewtyn, Rushton Seraphim paced back and forth in the guildmerge hall, his craggy face deeply lined. He was worried for Elspeth. The foundation of the huge house began to shudder. He crossed to the window and looked out. One mountain was belching thick brown smoke.
“What the …?†he whispered, looking at the mountain in dismay and puzzlement.
“Now, the keys please.†In my mindless state, I held out both of my hands, a key in each. Behind me Dragon stood, looking at Matthew in a dumb way. Daffyd took the keys from my hands.
“Now, I can finally find Gilaine.†He murmured, taking the keys, and putting Hannah’s key in the slot.
“Balance of Terror, Stage 1. Initiate retaliation unit.†The computer-machine said automatically. “To proceed to Stage 2, insert next key.†Daffyd had finally forgotten about me, and his mental hold loosened. I let fly the pre-prepared probe wreathed in my dark power fly. It connected with his shield, now much stronger than before, and he staggered under the mental assault. He stood up, and looked at me with malice.
“You will pay for that.†I was struggling to enter Dragon’s mind. I breached her shield, but she was letting me in.
“Can you remember Gilaine?†I asked.
“I can’t.†she sent. I gave her a mind picture.
“Can you project this for me?â€ÂÂ
“Yes.†Daffyd now had a knife in his hands, long and wickedly serrated. The end was dripping blood. I looked and saw that Ariel was dead upon his throne. Why did Daffyd kill him? Daffyd was grinning, looking at me as if my murder would be like bliss for him. Suddenly he stopped dead. Gilaine had materialized in front of me, her ashen hair unbound and long. Her mute mouth was set as I had sent to Dragon, smiling. Her coerced hands were stretching out towards him, as to embrace him. I knew that she was dead, killed by the Gatekeeper, so did Daffyd, but somewhere the illusion touched him and he believe she still lived.
“Gilaine.†He rasped, his strong shield failing for a moment. This was all I needed. I let another coercive probe go, wreathed again in my lethal power. Daffyd keeled over dead.
