Kudos to the organises :D I'm liking what I see so far - and I love seeing everyone's costumes!! It's all so pretty :D
Though I must inquire - who do I turn to to submit a complaint about my date?
Malik: Did you think I wanted to come with you? Tell me who I should send my regards to in pairing me off with this misift? [act]waves spork menacingly[/act]
MK: mmm I'm starting to regret the spork idea...

LOL MK, I do beilieve there was some sort of disclaimer in the 'want a date' thread. Or at least I hope there was. Otherwise I'd best start running. :P

Lol MK. I know what you mean. Only I got the other end of the scale ~:|
I'm not much of a Rushton fangirl, but, still, I don't want to have him stolen.
And I also love the costumes :D

[act]endeavours to seek out Arwen and her date[/act]
Hey :P I didn't get 'Rushie supporter of the year for nothing!'
Firefall: [act]senses a disturbance in the forest (pun me? neva |:|)... and then returns her attention back to the damsel rescuing Rushton[/act]
As for you Deb! [act]turns to Malik[/act] What do you say - are we united in a common goal?
Malik: Flithy misfit trash! How I loathe you all [act]continues on a rant no one really cares about[/act]
MK: ::) Ah wells, Deb I suppose I can forgive ya :P Though me thinks I may need to seek out Ariadne's assistance in the matter of handling my [act]quotation marks[/act]date[act]quotation marks[/act]
Hee hee, I forgot how fun it was mingling with fictional characters. Although the Obernewtyn males do have an unnerving tendency to turn very quickly into spoilt, whining children in our roleplaying hands...or is that just my dates? :P
The only problem is keeping up and keeping track of who's where, especially at times when several people are posting at once. If I accidentally exclude someone from a conversation they were in a post or two before, sorry!
Oh Min, you rock. XD Love the Caspian fangirling. If I wasn't busy at the bar...[act]*eyes Caspian speculatively*[/act] :P
Sorry I abused your date, Arwen. It's a condition I have...
Tehe. I don't think it's just your dates, Firefall. I suspect Min and I have to accept a bit of the blame for what's happened to Rushton...[act]*evil grin*[/act]. On an RP note, I LOVE RP!Domick. He rocks my world.

PML Maz. you really aren't going to give me a chance are you.
Somewhere along the line we are going to have to decide if Reepicheep has a tail or not. Or confuse the poor mouse by swapping and changing. ROFL
I (L) the music at the start of each thread. Especially the Cantina :P As soon as I opened the thread I knew what music it would be :P

Wow the costumes are so great this year! My half-finished one is at home, so unfortunately me and my date have to remain costume-less for the moment. It's amazing how popular this event always is, there's already several pages to look through and it only started the other day. Kudos to the wonderful organisers :D

Heya all. I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to hijack thread for a moment for a little history lesson and info session for anyone who is new to the Mystic's Ball and is interested or anyone who might like a refresher. I don't want to look like I'm focussing on myself, I just find some of the fun will make more sense if you understand the context.
You may have noticed that Spike has just arrived at the ball. Firstly for anyone who doesn’t know, Spike is a character from the TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a particular favourite of mine. He’s basically a smart mouthed incredibly gorgeous IMO vampire. I’d just like to explain to anyone who doesn’t know, why he has turned up, as well as a small amount of backstories so that you might get some of the references Bec and I make.
At the 2007 Mystics Ball, I was approached by the organisers and asked if I’d consider being a special guest. They asked 3 people (one from each guild that wasn’t the Mystics) to do this. After some thought, I decided that I could keep Spike within the PG rating of the site (although it’s been difficult I can tell you) and chose him. Thus ensued one very fun and one very memorable Mystics ball for me. I had made the decision to play the room, but it didn’t quite work out as planned. Out of the corner of his eye, Spike spied someone very interested in him. (I think maybe Bec/Gypsy Wanderer may even have had some noticeable drool). He proceeded to snare the hapless Bec and she hung off him eating up the threats and endearments alike until he left without her. Told her to meet him somewhere after the ball and never showed.
Well Bec wasn’t going to take that lying down. At the 2008 Ball, I was once again approached and asked if I’d play Spike again. I agreed whole heartedly and Bec and I began again, with her very [censored] and him pretending he didn’t care. All ended pretty much well until he never showed at the after party. As you can imagine she’s pretty damn angry now.
This year we’ve decided to play things a little differently. Bec and I had a long hard conversation about whether or not we could do this again, and decided we could. The difference however is this year I’ve come as myself as well. I haven’t done this before, choosing to concentrate on my portrayal of Spike instead. This should be made more interesting by the fact Spike wasn’t even invited. Bec and I have some new tricks up our sleeves, and we hope you enjoy them. We take our entertaining as well as having fun very seriously and can’t wait to see what will happen.
So why have I told you all this? Well as you can see there’s a bit of history there and we felt it would make much more sense if people understood the references we make and what we’re doing. I’d also like to ask you to respect the characters and the fact that Bec and I spend a lot of time over MSN planning parts of our storylines. If it looks like we’re going somewhere, please don’t suddenly drag our characters somewhere else or make them do something out of character. I’m not saying don’t interact. That is the whole point of the ball, just try and keep it in character (eg on meeting a devoted fan Spike has three settings. Tell them to [censored] off, hit on them or cold indifference. He will not hand you flowers and chocolates). If you have any questions about what you’re posting or want to change the storyline a bit, just let us know if you’re not sure.
And above all we hope you all have just as much fun as we have done in previous years.
Spike: now sod off

Thanks Tanya! I haven’t seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer before, but I have done some back reading, but this clears it up some more.
And I've been doing the same thing Deb- the threads are just growing quicker than I get a chance to read.

Thanks Tanya, that was a great explaination. Just so that everyone knows, Spike, while not an 'invited' guest is a special member of the Mystics Ball team as is Halina who will crop up in Ari's posts. These characters were planned additions from the earliest planning stages of the Ball and the rules about not introducing uninvited guests still stands. There may be one or two more guests that may be introduced by the hostesses or other who have been asked to play them. Other than these 'official' guests, please stick to your own date, or try to steal one of the OC characters from a friend. Except Swallow...he's mine and I'll be after him soon. :P
OML - Horten Der Fangirls! PML, Min!! XD I really hope that term picks up around the boards. It's given me no end of amusement. [act]giggles helplessly[/act]
(Also, Domick randomly speaking Jerman was just too funny. I love RPG Domick. XD)
And thanks for the summary, Tanya - even having witnessed the previous appearances of Spike, I was glad to get that backstory.

Haha, I love the Horten der Fangirls - and the automated response is a fantastic touch, Maz! XD And I agree about the awesomeness of Swallow in a Mr Darcy moment! [act]also loses all rationality and becomes part of the Horten der Fangirls[/act] :P
I've just been doing some catching up on the threads, and I'm loving it - so many brilliant moments and characters, and so many hilarious lines and conversations! XD So thanks everyone for the fantastic entertainment, and also belated congrats on the costumes - they all look great! :D Thanks for the summary, Tanya - I was around for last year's ball but was a little hazy on the earlier details. :)
