hehe - I got a bit confused with the Hawaiin T-shirt guys as well :P
Zomg! I really liked the vids...I didn't clearly hear most of the voiceovers, but the story came through anyway.
My only constructive criticism was for the destroyer pig video - I was at least expecting a bit of Ben Barnes holding a squealing piglet in there!! :P haha and the disclaimer is hilarious
Wow min really great! I have to say mission accomplished with the sound. The first time i watched it i was all "No Ness stop listening to the music and listen to the voice-overs" because i found my hearing was playing between the two. And then on the second watch i tried to focus harder and then read the comment and realise you were deliberately directing my hearing. So well done :) Though i must admit its annoying having the lyrics playing over voice overs.
However, I think its probably more effective to have no words at all if you want just the song to tell the story, because then you really would focus in on the lyrics rather than having the inner conflict that i was having :P
Other wise brilliant! Followed the story really really easily! Was the blonde lady whom i assumed was Hannah from Dr Who at some time or another? I was certain i recognised her...
Also agreed with the disclaimer! Love the pig hahaha.
Thanks guys!! And thanks for all the suggestions! Yeap, I was after feedback/criticism - I really wanted to see how the audio went on this track...it's the most challenging part for me, because I know what they're saying, because I've been toying with it for so long - so thank you for all the comments on the sounds. I've got some more ideas for it now and hopefully I'll get a chance to edit + reupload soonish.
Firefall: in the first version (with teardrop as song, since it's a whole minute longer) I did have a lot more of Elspeth in it - but watching it again now I agree. Elspeth's only slightly eluded to, and it might be better to split the kidnap-scene with more of Elf [act]ponders[/act] I'll see what I can do.
Agyllian: Hehe, ;) Hawaiian shirt guy; couldn't really do without him, in the end, since he's the one who captures Cassy. It was either him or Cricket-bat guy :P (you see a couple of seconds of him). Blame the almost-perfect version of Twelfth Night I found, trying to pull off the whole "Modernising Shakespeare" thing again :P
Mono: LOL - finding a picture of Ben Barnes with a piglet is impossible! I played around with the idea of getting Farmer Hogget's "That'll do pig...that'll do" and put up a clip of Ben Barnes nodding. But nothing came of it :P
Ness: Good point, I might go edit and remove some of the voiceovers...or reduce volume of the main track in those parts. I'm not sure if she was in Doctor Who or not though, she did look familiar! I'd check IMDB now but I've gotta dash off to work!
And for anyone who's wondering, the main movies I used for clips (they're credited at the very end, but it's quite small text): Twelfth Night (that's why Cassy sounds like she's speaking Shakespeare when she actually "speaks" :P ), and Xmen 2, with a bit of the Terminator 4 trailer - oh, and of course, The Uninvited for the Elspeth bits, again.

Oh My! I think I'll have to come visit here more often. They are awesome Min. I loved the Cassie with Hannah's daughter (I think) and taking ship for tLotRQ (if thats what it is). I really love the destoyer pig one as well. PML
The videos were great :-" , I am amazed because I did not think it would ever be possible to put a book into any form of something visual because the readers' minds work differently yet you did it. The Evil Pig was hilarious XD.
Where did you find the clips you used to make the videos?
Urgh I really need sound...but from watching both of them I thought they were great. I was so proud of myself because I understood what was happening, in both video's, even without the sound. But that shirt...well, he looks like a Beforetimer XP

Wow! Those were all awesome!
Just one thing with the first video though, I think it would've been cool if you could have included the sound of water dripping into water somewhere (sorry if you did, I just missed it). I think its a really big symbol in the book, and even if you just had a couple of drops as a sound effect during the credits at the end, I think it would be really cool.
And now I'm curious, there seem to be a lot of jokes around about 'Destroyer Pig' and I think I also saw an allusion to it being in a relationship with Rushton....I'm guessing its the pig Rushton's holding when he meets Elspeth, but is there any thread I can go to so as to get filled in on all of this? Sorry, I can't help it, I'm a newb ~:|
evernight - lots of places. Mainly youtube, to be honest!
LOL no worries Sian - it's sort of one of those running jokes. I don't think there's a thread anywhere that explains it exactly - but the history (note to self: might be a good inclusion for the Obernet FAQ) - we determined a while back on the Theories board that the Destroyer is in the first book. Right now, I can't remember if Isobelle confirmed this 100% for us, or if we just 'said' that at the time. Anyway. The point is, that we began a discussion, listing every single character in book 1, and figuring out pros + cons for them being the Destroyer.
An oldbie called Miska came along and as a joke said something like 'oi, you didn't add the pig Rushton's carrying when he first meets Elspeth!' and it went on from there :P
The relationship (not in a sordid sense, I promise) of the Pig and Rushton comes from our many RPGs - so, whenever you see it mentioned, bear in mind that it is in reference to Obernet's RPG-Rushton, and not Isobelle's canon-Rushton. RPG Rushton arrived at one of our many balls holding a pig or something, everyone assumed it was his date, and it went on from there. You know how these things get carried away! Check the old threads in the Function Hall for more references to it.
lol, these are great!! i hope somebody does eventually make a movie/s out of them!!
Thank you!! I was pressed for time when I was typing the explanation before, but that's cleared it up :) (for that matter, it would have been weird for so many of us to pedantically scour the book for all its characters if we didn't have a reliable source).

I loved it Min!
I have been wary of Book trailers (not that this vid is one) because I fear taking on someone else's character/world perception when I read the story after viewing them, but this is so true to Legendsong, and the images so well cut/edited, that I didn't get any of that. I also love your choice of Glynna.
I hope this doesn't sound patronizing or anything, but you can see the experience (or is it the difference in medium/program/available clips) between this fanvid and the OC one's you did. While I enjoyed the OC versions, this vid came across as far more polished. :)
I think for someone viewing this without having read the books it may be confusing, but then again, it really isn't an easy/straight forward story line to compress into a few moments. I think you did really well with what you did get in, and honestly, I think it will make people want to read the book. If that was a film trailer, I'd certainly be going to see the film.
Thanks Ari! Yeap, this definitely isn't intended on being a book trailer - there's no marketing agenda behind it - lol :P but I'm the same - I generally avoid book trailers - for a thing that's meant to be professional they are often just so tacky...there's a thread in the library where we were talking about them recently too. Seems they're what the industry considers part of the standard book trail marketing journey, but no body who reads actually likes them!
Anyway thanks again for the feedback - this is definitely meant to be in the fanvid category, and your comment wasn't patronising in the slightest - it was the opposite I think because you're saying I've improved :D
I feel the same, looking over my older vids. I guess like anything you learn from your mistakes - looking at The Sending one makes me cringe at all the mistakes, but I just have to remember I had no idea what I was doing back then. Maybe one day I'll revisit and polish it. I'd really like to get some better software before then though - iMovie's good but I think I've gotten all I can get out of it now. There were many frustrating moments trying to find out how to change something simple in iMovie only to find out it wasn't possible.
I was worried that its impossible to tell what's going on with the story if you haven't read the book (which would be a critical flaw if it was a book trailer), so I added a break-down in the description on YouTube. I'm hoping those who know the story will get enough of it from watching, and those who haven't might find it interesting enough to read the description (and then the book!) and realise what's what.
The girl for Glynna is the same girl for Ember - I was lucky enough with Ms Elle Fanning to find recent movies where she'd had red hair, and white-blonde (if only her red-haired character had been half-blind :P). I wasn't sure on using her as Glynna until I saw the bit with her walking along in green, and remembered everyone always commenting on Glynna's confident/myrmidonish walk. So I had to make her work for Ember then too :P
The trickiest person to pick was Bleyd - I find it impossible to disconnect him from Game of Thrones, but that bit at the window (Jamie Lannister/Bran Stark from GoT) fitted the mental picture of Blyed and Anyi so well it had to be him then.
And I wish I'd include Alene, Tar or Feyt, but there really wasn't time :-/ in the end I needed Ember to dream a lot so that she'd see Glynna in a dream by the end.
I really enjoyed the video. Here are my slightly incoherent thoughts.
I agree that it would be difficult to tell the story without having read the book, but knowing it well I enjoyed fitting each of the scenes in.
Loved the Unykorn scenes, they perfectly captured the mood. The start with the ocean and each of the girls crossing over also worked really well.
The one thing I would add would be a clip with the feinna. I understand it is difficult to find a suitable one, but it is an important part of Glynn’s story and I feel that even a brief mention would add a lot.
In terms of the actors:
Elle Fanning doesn’t really fit my mental image of either Glynn or Ember, but I found my that my mind just made excuses so that it still worked in the context of the clip.
Quite liked your choice for Solen, particularly the fact that he is actually wearing blue/purple.
I loved that brief bit where Anyi looked over the wall. For two second appearance, it perfectly captured his character.
I haven’t seen GoT, but to me Bleyd always looked more like Gwynedd from OC, long blond hair with side plaits. I do like the image of him with Anyi though.
[/end rambling]
At any rate, I really liked it, and I hope you get around to doing a Darksong one sometime to go with it. :)

Thanks Bibli! There was a very brief sequence with what was supposed to be the fienna, right before we switch to Ember's sequence - Glynna resting her head against an animal's head (it's a stag in the original clip, but it was shot in a way where it could be any animal - you see an eye and the top of its head). Maybe it was too brief/vague...
It was really hard to find suitable clips, yeah! In the end one of the reasons I couldn't include Alene or the myrmidons (other than not enough time) was simply because I couldn't find anything relevant to use. And the Bleyd used is too old :P but the clip of him and Anyi at the window was too good to not make him Blyed for this :P
I'll start working on hoarding clips for a Darksong vid :) thanks for your feedback!
Not bad, not bad at all :D--though I'm onenof those terrible people who watches these things and tries to figure where all the scenes were taken from and now I actually want to watch The Maze Runner (send help). What's her name (I literally saw it in the clio but memory, ey?) makes a good Eslpeth now that Ive seen it.
Though, where did you get the white face lords clip from?
Thanks :) Kaya Scodelario's her name. Her stuff's from Maze Runner mostly (which is honestly a fair bit meh), but took some from Wuthering Heights and a snippet from Skins, too.
The White Faced Lords bit was a random youtube video I found - didn't credit it because got it ages ago (have been downloading bits and pieces for this video for years, but just managed to finally get it together) and can't track the source any more - I honestly can't remember what I googled to find it either.
Well they look neat, whoever they are (mysteries within mysteries)?
Nice! Is it November yet :P

Thanks guys :) wish I had more time with it. The thing that took longest this time around was the backing track. Tried so many different songs...from Muse (Ruled by Secrecy almost won) to the Narnia soundtrack to Florence & the Machine...in the end the 300 soundtrack (which I have NO IDEA how it ended up in my iTunes library, I haven't even *seen* 300) had two I could use and the main one seemed to build up at the right point. It was weird because the backing track is usually the first thing I've found and the video has been created around it.
