After avoiding my father yet another time, I got to see Jeneal about the note from Hannah. She seemed worried about something, but wouldn't answer when I questioned her. Now that I picked up on it, many of the other people around the complex seem to be acting... stranger. I didn't risk opening the note immediately; I retreated to a quiet room and read Hannah's response:
Cassy - Code? You've described some very strange things. I can't get to you right now, and I fear contact between us is being watched. If you could ask one of the people working in the complex about the code, they may be able to help. Be careful who you trust. ~ H

Hannah's warning was a timely reminder. Just as I was about to leave the room, I overheard a conversation between two guards. I don't know their rank, or even why they were having such a conversation where anyone like me could overhear, but I don't think they noticed me. One of them seemed rather worried about going to wherever the paranormals are kept. Apparently, he felt something brush his mind. I don't know how that's possible. I mean your mind is in your skull, protected by some sort of fluids. I think he's just overreacting and a twitchy, trigger happy fellow. Although that response is quite interesting. Why would he feel such a thing? Could it be that just as paranormals have greater mind powers, that other humans evolve to be more sensitive to those powers? That's something I'll have to ask Hannah about next time I meet her. Right now I better go and wheedle out more information from Jeneal.

Got caught by Masterton again, being where I wasn't supposed to be. I'm sure he suspects that I'm after info on the paranormals. I told him that I had been wandering around looking at various departments in order to get ideas. I asked him if he could give me a proper tour of the complex as this would help in my work for him. He of course declined, but I think I have worked out where the paranormals are being experimented on. Not the door I found the other day but a sub floor of the complex. It seems what is seen on the surface is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many many floors that go deep into the ground and I will attempt to find out how to access them.

I had a dream last night that I was floating in the space above the sub-levels of the complex, where I suspect the paranormals are being held and experimented on. In the dream, things that seemed almost like bubbles floated up to me, but when they reached me, they popped; I heard voices screaming, begging for help.
I awoke in a cold sweat and couldn't explain what I had just experienced; it was like no other dream. The voices seemed so real, but how could something like that be real?
I think being in this place, knowing that people, and Flamebirds, are being experimented on is getting to my head. No wonder the guards and staff are acting strange. This is a place of fear, and of Power.
After that disturbing nightmare (or was it a dream?) I was a little shaky thinking about the paranormals, and the fact that my own father could be involved in such an inhumane plan.
Nothing could assuage my feeling of unease, until I remembered that today I get to meet the flamebirds and delve into my favourite past-time again - ART! I love art, all types of it - whether it is painting, sculptures, carving, tattoos. Yes, tattoos. Anything and everything is a medium for art, even the human body. I think I gave my dad a fright when he saw me with a little tattoo declaring my love for my Tiban lover on my right shoulder. But then again, who cares what my father thinks. I am grown up now, and I'm free to do whatever I want!

Well, I'm not happy, yet. I still haven't seen the letter from Hannah and I am getting desperate. I had got bored with walking and started to move quicker, when I bumped into a group of workers, who dropped all their papers and broke a glass ball. They gave me a lecture about safety and how important their job was, and I found out they knew a bit about the more important projects. Must make a mental note to try to talk to them, or maybe someone else could talk to them because these workers probably don't want to see me. I wondered what the glass ball was for, so I took a piece of the broken glass and a few of the dropped papers. I'm sure they could be useful. So then I went off, and finally got to where Jeneal was supposed to be, but I found out she was worried when I didn't come and she decided to look for me. So now I have to find her.
I went to Jeneal's and mine usual hidey-hole and waited for her there. Curiosity overcame me, and I started reading some of the plasts that I surreptitiously snagged. It looked like this was some sort of a map! Perhaps its was a map of the complex that the workers were constructing underground. Oh well that explains the glass ball. It was filled with water, so it was a levelling tool for the constructors. I decided to keep the maps to myself. Maybe they would help me find my way around to the paranormals.

Jeneal has disappeared. I don't know what has happened to her, but she has not been seen by anyone for three days nows. I have to believe that she has been found out and that Masterton and his lackeys have silenced her somehow.
My father has been sending me some worrying vibes. He seems to turn up more frequently where I am. He has forbidden me to see the Flamebirds again and stopped the visit I was to have a few days ago. I really don't want to believe that he is mixed up in all this but it looks like my suspicions have been answered.
Jeneal stil hasn't returned, and now I am amazingly worried. I suspect she is now being experimented on too. I'm worried, for her and for me. If what I suspect is true someone may connect Jeneal with me and start thinking I'm dangerous. Then they would take me. Another problem is that codes are harder to crack without help from Jeneal.
I have decided to look at the books and papers that belong to Jeneal and see if I can find any tips on how to crack codes. It looks like having that skill is quite useful, especially in the present situation. So, I was looking around and found.........
Absolutely nothing! I know where she hieds them, but they weren't there. Now I'm sterting to get really worried. It is possible that Jeneal moved them for some reason or that she other friends protecting them for her, but it is just as likely that the government scientists found them. If this is the case, then with a bit of work they will know everything, our codes, our secrects, our plans. I have to discover who has them, but where do I start?

I was disrupted from my searching by summons to Masterton's office later that day. Instead of waiting for the daunting hour, I went straight there. To my surprise, and luck, his door was ajar! No one was inside, and I had a strange premonition of a trap, but entered anyway.
I decided to look through his desk. If there was any information about Jeneal - or any of the paranormals - I saw that this may have been my only opportunity to find out more. After looking through several empty drawers I found one that was locked. I paused before I daringly jimmied it open. Inside were folders - profiles - of each paranormal in the complex. There was a slip of paper that fell out of one I picked up. As I bent to retrieve it, I heard footsteps coming down the hall. I only just managed to snatch the paper from the floor and dive into a closet before Masterton walked in.

He closed the door and sat down at his desk. The draw with the files I had jimmied open wasn't totally closed. Masterton chose a file and banged it shut without too much inspection. I waited for half an hour while he worked at his desk. As he flicked through the file I got more nervous. Even if he didn't notice anything I was supposed to visit him soon. What would happen if I did not appear? Casting these thoughts aside for the moment, I tried to read the paper I had clutched to my chest but the closet was too dark. I couldn't make out a single word but there were a few dates. None of which meant anything to me. I knew it was important and it almost certaintly had something to do with Jeneal. But then the someone knocked at the door and Masterton stood up to open it. In stepped a visitor. A very suprising visitor. And to my horror I saw their face. As they casualy sat down and started speaking I gaped almost paralised in shock.

It was father, and talking on such terms with Masteron as completely surprised me. I had always thought that there was animosity between them, but they were chatting casually, as if their meetings were a regular occurrence. Most puzzling was the fact that they seemed to be talking complete nonsense- waffling away about super soldiers and the moon. I was completely taken aback when they started to talk about me.
Masterton told my father I had been protected from my fate as a favour to him, but clearly I was becoming a liability. It was time I was entered into the program. Hearing this I gasped out loud and.......

...was only saved from being discovered by a loud alarm outside the room. One of the paranormals must have heard my desperate attempts to reach out to them, and caused a diversion. Luckily Masterton and my father did not seem to have heard a thing, and were immediately on their phones heading out into the corridor, and I heard them striding off down the hall, almost running. I still don't know what had been done, but I hope the others are safe.
I debated searching for information on this "program" Masterton and my father had been discussing, but realised I'd already had a lucky escape, and should count my blessings, so I made good my escape. Hopefully I will find another opportunity to return. At least we have another idea of a term that is relevant to our interests. And I know I desperately need to be more careful. That note to Hannah had definitely been an unwise move.
I have to wonder also what they had meant by speaking of the moon? I wouldn't be surprised if the talk of supersoldiers was connected to the Govamen's experiments on paranormals. Why else would they be interested in us if not for warfare? But what relevance could the moon possibly hold? Like everyone, I know that after attempts to reach the moon in the dark ages, it had been neglected for centuries, but I have heard rumours that expeditions had been sent to the moon. I had thought it was to assess the potential for colonisation, but what if it wasn't that at all?
