Hi, I've just been having this problem where sometimes I try to log in and then I appear on the list of membesr on, but it's as if I'm logged on on a different device and not logged in on this one?
It doesn't always happen, but it would be great if you could work out what's causing this problem.
Try clearing your browser cache - particularly of cookies. We had to change the session storage method from cookies to sessions and back to cookies again (due to a bug in the software that allowed anonymous posting, but the dev people have fixed it now, I think), and it might take your browser a while to readjust. clearing your browser cache should force it though.
Thanks, it seems to be fixed now.
If you can't see the restricted forums you usually have access to, then please be aware you're not the only one. I don't know what happened, but all the custom user classes seem to have been removed from every user account. If I find out how/why/who did it, I'll likely you know, kill them slowly. So just bear with us for a sec. The forums are still there, they just aren't visible.
No rush, Min. We'll all cope. Thanks so much for looking into this.
I don't know what caused it still, but permissions should be restored (recovered from a recent backup).
Am I blind or have we lost a button for spoilers? I believe the code still works, but can't seem to find a button for it....
Note to all users: there appears to be an issue with restricted forums at the moment. If you find you don't have access to your usual forums, please don't panic; the MoOs are aware and are investigating. I'm posting on their behalf.
Please be patient. They all have day jobs and lives to attend to, and things will be back to normal as soon as possible.
Thanks for the heads up Marta - I was just about to pm Min to let her know that I can see the Mystics Cavern, but nothing else from the restricted section.....and I'm a Wandie!
No rush to fix it or anything, but, like Blackbird, I have somehow been given access to the Mystics Cavern, though I had access to the Dreamweavers' forum yesterday (which is where I'm meant to be). Just thought I should let you know :)
I am having the same. I can access the Mystics, which out of respect I have not entered.
But I would really like my tim tam giving and receiving Wanderers. :)
Confirming that through the power of teamwork (while all of us juggled our full time jobs/skipped our lunch breaks/etc) it's fixed again, but we're unsure (again) what caused it. The e107 people have been made aware of the issue, and we have some hunches what caused it (nothing anyone did on here) but it's a tricky one to troubleshoot. I've turned off the thing I think is causing it but we'll have to see if it happens again.
Thanks, Min. Your dedication is very much appreciated :). Love your work, as always.
Yes, thanks Min, you do an amazing job running this site amidst all the other goings on of full time work and life itself. Thank you!
I should probably point out that the resolution we applied was most definitely a team effort, and without Marta and Tim it wouldn't have been applied until I had finished work.
The issue might happen again - because I'm about to run a test and try make it happen, so we can tell the developers what (definitely) causes it. So if your userclasses are unassigned in the next couple of hours (since there seems to be a delay), then it's intentional and it'll be fixed again shortly after.
Cheers, guys. Many pats on the back for you all :)
Thanks to everyone who helped fix it :) You guys do a really awesome job to keep the site running, and it's really appreciated :)
Thank you to the team! We're always very grateful for your work!
Just mentioning again that the spoiler button seems to have wandered off? (since the weird happenings with user classes seem to have distracted from pizzagreen mentioning it a few weeks ago)
The code still works, though...just the button missing...
What is the code? I noticed the lack of spoiler button just now ...
[spoiler] [/ spoiler] (without the space)
Thanks for pointing that out Nef and BB. It should be there now :)
Note to self, really: further to Deb's point earlier on about the green dots not going green when there are new posts in a thread, I also note that the 'last post' date for a particular forum only considers the parent forum. So, in the Writersmerge class, for example, we've had some posts recently in the OberNoWriSu subforum, yet on the main forum page, the last post date is still a few weeks ago, which is the last time Deb posted in the main forum.
This coupled with lack of green dots makes it hard to see that people are posting stuff in forums.
Will look into one day soon.
EDIT: And... I lie. I see Katie recently posted in a subforum, and the latest post thing got updated. Very odd. Will definitely need to look into this.
Wow! I haven't been on the site in... years... so I was shocked today to see the changes! I think it looks fantastic! And well done to everyone involved in implementing it and ironing out the kinks! Thanks so much for keeping the site running for us all :)
The only thing I have noticed is that in the drop down menu to the left of my posts, it says that I joined on Thurs 1st Jan 1970. Isn't that zero time for unix? I joined sometime in 2008. I don't mind that it's incorrect, I just thought that I'd mention it in case it's significant in some way. Apologies also if this has been mentioned elsewhere and because of my incredibly lengthy absence, I haven't read that post yet.
It's good to be back! :D
