He wouldn't be as BIG as Robbie Coltrane.
I know what you mean though...he does have an impressive girth and Brydda was never described as an excessive mead swiller but Abrahams face came unbidden to my mind when first I read the books and I haven't yet found a better substitute.
I have always, and probably always will, have imagined Brydda as Rufus Sewell. I'm not sure if I was influenced by Min's idea or not, I can't really remember, but That is just how he is in my mind.
And as Min said, I have mainly seen him in 'bad' person roles (I still have to see Tristan and Isolde), but he did play King Charles II in a BBC series, where he was a good guy, and very good at it.
You just have to love him!
I dunno... Rufus Sewell just doesn't seem... huggable. And Brydda's hugs are a wonder! Elf says so!
i thought he was very huggable in Tristen + Isolde - he was an excellent King Mark. not the bad guy at all, quite nobel in fact. Yep, its still Rufus for me. i have loved him as an actor ever since i saw Cold Comfort Farm waaaay back (now thats a weird show - loved it [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/grin.gif" alt=";D" border="0"/> )
Have any of you seen The Lives of Others? (If not, I highly recommend - hands down the best film I've seen all year. And I've seen some great ones, so that's high praise.) Anyway, Sebastian Koch, the lead guy who plays the playwright, would be a perfect Brydda in my view. He's tall, he's huggable without being large, he has the right hair, and he has kind eyes but can also be stern. I'd wager he could command a bunch of rebels pretty convincingly too! Perfect!
Only problem is that he's German... javascript:addtext(':P',true)
he's the dude from 300, isn't he? I reckon he'd be good - I pictured him a bit snugglier (goodness knows why - he's a tough rebel leader, he doesn't need to be snuggly :P ) but apart from that I say good choice, liefde!
(not Orlando Bloom though - too scrawny and too good-looking. In fact, that'd be the problem with making the OC into a movie full stop - everyone would be much better looking than I had imagined them! not that I imagine anyone as ugly, but you know... it's just unrealistic for everyone to be a spunk.)
lol, I don't actually want Orlando Bloom, I was just using that to explain how much I don't want Rufus Sewell :P
