I was given the ill-made mute by Cecilia Dart-Thornton (The Bitterbynde - Book 1) from my birthday back in 2004. It took me at least 5 goes at starting it before I finished it. It was because I hate leaving a book unread that about 2 years ago I bit the bullet and made myself read it. Can I say that half way through all of a sudden I absolutely LOVED it! So even though it started so slow and boring it rounded up with a bang! The saying “never judge a book by its cover†should change to never judge a book by its start! That same year I was given The Bone Doll's Twin by Lynn Flewelling (The Tamir Triad) and decided to stick at it and ended up buying the whole series and loved it to bits! I have learnt my lesson.
And I know that we were not going to comment about the haters of books, but can I say I was 13 when I first read “Tomorrow when the War beganâ€. I am now 30, and I found Elle Chronicles for what it was. While being a teenagers book originally I felt that John Marsden tried to keep up with the age of the reader rather than the age of the character and I really connected with her issues and problems being a adult facing financial issues. I felt the books grew with me.
