There was a preview for the finale of Torchwood on after the Doc Who Xmas special (and a preview for Sarah Jane Adventures!) - these last two episodes of Torchwood look AMAZING, it showed loads more than the usual post-torchwood "next week" bit. I can't wait...won't get to see it til at least tomorrow.
I'll watch it tonight, and post about it tomorrow. Should be very good!
Ok, so its a double post. The finale is looking good so far!
Note for downloaders: They've sort've combined both episodes in to one faeture length episode, so you might have one large download or two smaller ones.
This is being typed as i watch.
Jack and Tosh have been sucked through the rift into 1941. Jack has just met the real Captain Jack Harkness and admits he used the name when he was on an undercover mission in the 1940's. However, when Tosh asks what his real name is, he can't seem to remember.
The Manager/Caretaker is very creepy, and there's something odd about him (apart from an almost spitting resemblance to Peter Cushing). He has a Torchwood folder in in his desk drawer, and looks the same age in 2006 as he does in the 40's. He's also been changing Tosh's formulae thats shes been leaving for him to find in the future. And why would he have the key to the rift machine hidden in his office?!
Its interesting how Tosh is treated in the 40's, when the Japanese werent trusted. And look at Ianto and Owen fight with each other!
Soo! Torchwood are keeping Jack for something are they? Interesting!
Roman soldier speaking latin. Interesting!
And Tosh's mum saying that '..it's coming out of the darkness'. So that thread thats been mentioned throughout the series is coming to a head! Looks like people from everyones pasts are coming 'out of the darkness'.
Owens been fired! Thought it might happen. So, Mr Bliss is able to step through time, and show people some of their future! Gwens boyfriend looks like he may be killed in a violent way...
So it looks like everything centres around Mr Bliss. he may be cause of the whole thing.
I feel so sorry for Gwen. I was almost in tears when she was going through her emotions over her boyfriends death.
Jacks been shot! Looks like he's dead, but he cant die! Yep, i was right, hes alive again.
They've opened the rift! I think this episode is going to end on one hell of a cliffhanger. Looks like the creature (Abidon?) thats just come out is related to the Devil from the Satan Pit episode in Doctor Who.
So the beast was killed by energy from Jacks body. Does this mean he's not immortal any more? But he can't die, as we know he's in season 3 of Doctor Who (though that doesnt necessarily mean anything, as the Doc could travel back into the past). Aha! he did come back to life. Thought he would!
The Docs hand is flashing! A TARDIS sound! and Jacks dissapeared. Looks like we wont get a conclusion till the end of season 3 of Doctor Who! Gah! I hate cliffahngers like that!
OMFG! What a finale! Sorry if the spoiler doesn't make much sense, i was typing as i was watching. I fi get time i may go back and re-edit.
Damnit damnit damnit!!! I got up bright an early to kick off the download, and it's not there yet!!

OH MY GOD!!!! THAT WAS THE MOST AWESOME ENDING!!!!!!!
I'd write more, but I have to go out for a couple of hours and am most definitely running late now :P
Okay, editing with stuff.
Bilys. What on earth is he? Who is he? How on earth can he bend time like that and disappear/reappear wherever he wanted to? Paul had the idea that he's the Master, and he'll appear in Doctor Who later on, because what he was capable of seemed very Time-Lordish. And was excellent, I really hope they bring him back somewhere.
I've decided I really don't like Owen. I actually jumped for joy when Ianto (now my hero!) shot him. There was no resolution as to what Ianto actually 'does' other than get tea - sorry, I'm being vague. I mean, what did he do in Torchwood 1? Why was he demoted? There seems to be so much more to him.
Gwen was brilliant. The emotional rollercoaster she went through with Rhys' death was so real, she is brilliant.
But Jack in the end stole the show!! Aw, he's just awesome. Did you notice too, he was answering one of Tosh's questions and he said "someone saved my life, and it's like they've been keeping me alive for something"...I'd thought at the end, maybe they're just keeping him alive to fight this Abadonn monster? But then he lived again...so it must be for something else? Maybe something at the end of Season 3 DW? :)
And the ENDING! I was literally jumping for joy at 2 in the morning when we watched it last night. The Hand seemed to be playing up during it, Owen said the machine was going down or something? But then...glowing. The Tardis noise...Jack's relieved grin. Brilliant. I cannot WAIT to see what happens there. That all but confirms that Torchwood-connections will feature again in DW this year. Why did the Doctor turn up then, there, and just nab him and run? Did the Doctor (or the Tardis) sense that something big had happened to the Rift?
It's going to feel very weird not sitting down to watch Torchwood next Monday :(
I seriously doubt that Billys is The Master. The Master is a Timelord, just like the Doc, and he cannot travel through time '...like stepping between rooms'. He has to use a TARDIS. I think that Billys is something more, and we will encouter him again. He must be something very old, especially seeing that he serves the beast. It still doesn't explain why he had a Torchwood folder in his desk though!
I think Ianto may be explained next season.
The TARDIS is sensitive to changes in time, and opening the Rift caused a massive disurption. Maybe the Doc was angry at him for opening the rift, as he was there when they sealed it last time. I guess we'll have to wait for season three to find out

I know! it was a fantastic two episodes, i'm so damn in love with Torchwood and now i'll have to wait agggggeess to get an answer.
As to Ianto (i had "my Ianto" written down there for a while without realising it *sad fangirl*) he's an organising-type-person (sod, had the proper title in my head there for a moment, and it's gone...) a good one of these is extremely hard to find and worth their weight in gold. They keep everything running. Jack had it right in the first episode, Ianto keeps everything moving. He's expected to be a jack of all trades. He knows technology enough to patch into the water tower in order to give a mobile signal, he's smart enough he can connect the dots and come up with reasonable theories along with the others (and he can rhyme really well... "life knife" *giggles*)
But part of his role is also his ability to keep secrets. Ianto probably knows the most about Jack. He's the first one at Torchwood in the morning, and the last to leave, bar Jack. He fetches things that are needed, and makes sure the team have everything they need. Most of the data up on the Torchwood.org site is collected by Ianto. He shamelessly digs into the other team members lives and gathers everything on them. Every email, every photo, every letter unsent, Ianto collects it all.
With Ianto, i don't think it's a matter of what he did at Torchwood One, i assume it was probably exactly the same task, just on a larger scale. (he mentions that he's taking a demotion of sorts. Dealing with the same things, but on a smaller scale). It's more a matter of what he knows, what Jack has told him, and what, dear god, can you actually do with a stopwatch?

1. No, thats the second to last episode
2. The last two eps aren't exactly a two parter, but the some of the events in the penultimate episode bare heavily on the last episode
Darnit!! Hmm, perhaps that means they'll be showing the last ep soon then. I shall check tonight's listings!
LOL Lucy!! I usually dl Declassified as well, but I haven't the last couple of weeks!! Will have to do that now :D

I have to admit, i like Owen. He looks kind of strange, those lips of his scream welsh inbreeding, but i don't like him in a fangirling sense. (Ianto all the way for that.)
It's his character. His acerbic ways, snarling remarks make me like him. I have a soft spot for I think there have been a few spots in the show where the writing has let him down. They're trying to get his character out there in such a short time that i think they've developed him far too quickly and it's been a bit faulty in spots. But i can understand why, they thought they were only ever going to have 13 episodes, and really wanted to tell the story.
But all the same, i like him. You can't have everyone being swank and lovely, in that type of job you need arseholes. And when you're under that amount of stress, how is everyone going to be nice?
[spoiler] and i have to say, in the last episode when he went to go hug Gwen when Rhys was dead, made me like him more. He knows he's [censored] up, that's his character, he's doomed to do everything wrong, to push everyone away, but he did try, and that's why i have a lot more time for him.
and i have to say, i have never cried so hard then when Gwen found Rhys. I totally agree with Russell T. Davis and anyone else who said it, she was a choice for Gwen, that was really damn believable. and then when she was sitting by Rhys in the autopsy and talking numbly about bringing him back... totally loved that scene...
I just think it's great when you see Owen in the Declassified interviews and he's quite well spoken and un-Londony! Teehee.
You have to have someone that you don't like though. Well, I think so anyway. Creates some dynamic and more of an involvement with the characters.
Plus, yeah, Gyen was awesome in that scene.
I have a theory that we'll see Owen in a different light at some point in the next season
I still can't stand him...you're all right, he's a good character, you have people (IRL) like that in workplaces. I just think he's an [censored], just like we're meant to think!
Owen apologising to Jack at the end may have been the end of his playing up because of Diane, but what's your theory anyway DO?
Well, its not a theory as such, its just that in Torchwood, nothing is what it seems. For example, Gwen seemed sweet and innocent, and then starts sleeping with Owen. Ianto was a quiet sort, and hid his Cyber-girfriend in the basement, etc
We did see another side to Owen when he fell in love, so i think we may see a change in him next season. Its just a feeling i have.
