Due to popular demand, this month’s writing challenge is the return of a previous one which requires you to rewrite the following a scene from the view of another character. As Isobelle always delivers us with the thought processes of our heroine Elspeth, we’re interested in what her companions are really thinking!
The scene is from
‘Ashling’ pg 185-196 (1997 penguin edition) When Swallow takes Elspeth back to his rig for healingSubmission SuggestionsThe above extract is a rather large scene. You do not have to recreate the entire scene from a character’s point of view as we have seen it. Perhaps you'd like to lead in with Maire's wondering as to what strange girl Swallow is bringing home. Or maybe shed some lights on Swallow's thoughts after Elspeth walks done the lane to leave.
Or perhaps you'll give us what Elspeth was
really thinking as she was saved form a certain dashing (unknownst to her yet) Gypsy king.
It's up to you :)
It can be in first person or third person, but what judges will be looking for is the thoughts and perceptions of other people in the scene.
Entries open from now until
14th February 2010.
Your entry should be no longer than 1000 words. You can only enter once, so make sure you're happy with the entry before you submit it!
