anyone else here read/watched any anime/manga by CLAMP?
They are most defiantely my favourite authors when it comes to anime/manga. Carcaptor Sakura is the very first anime I ever watched and the reason I started getting into the genre. Since then I've watched/am in the process of watching several others and I'm reading two of their current series (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle & XXXHolic - as seen in my sig) and I'm also in love with the style of their artwork.

I love CLAMP. :) The artwork is so pretty. I love Cardcaptor Sakura, it was one of the first anime series I ever watched too. I also really like Chobits, Wish and several other series I can't remember off the top of my head.. :roll:
I just started reading Tsubasa, as it happens, and love it so far. :D The art is gorgeous and I really love the characters - not to mention the humour. I only saw a little of Cardcaptors back when it was in popular at school, but it's on my list of Anime/manga to check out.
It's funny how much Tsubasa crosses over with other manga - sort of like an extended marketing campaign with a storyline. :P As a consequence, I'm also now curious about XXXHolic - would you say you liked it better/less/about the same?
On a side note, Maz - as I was reading the first volume of Tsubasa it kept niggling at me that Fai looked really familiar, though I had not idea why...finally he went eh heh over something and I was like "OMG, it's the guy from Maz's cute avatar!" XD
Tsubasa all the way!!!!! I love CLAMP! I think I enjoy Tsubasa and X/1999 the most of all their works (I really want them to continue X again... *sighs*)
I reall enjoy Tsubasa b/c of the fact that it's a massive crossover encompassing all of their works. Hmmm... imagine if IC did something like that, a crossover involing all of her magnficient books, I'll probably die from the awesomeness overload! :)

I think I would need to read some of her other books first but I am pretty certain an IC amalgamation would be amazing ;D
Firefall: XXXHolic is amazing. I am so certain it is going to end up being crucial to Tsubasa in some way at the end. I prefer Tsubasa but the artwork of XXXHolic just has me in love with it. And Yuuko is such a cool character. It also help to explain certain things in Tsubasa if you watch it becaus they cross over regularly.
I really want to read X/1999 next. I read the first chapter in a store the other day and it caught me...
Oh and if anyone wants something really cool, look up 'Clamp in wonderland' (theres 2 - 1 is their older stuff, 2 is more recent and covers the stuff I know) ;D CLAMP made a music video mixing up all of their stories together. It made me so happy :roll:
I think I'm going to read xxxHolic next, when I have a little more time - it looks really good. Actually, I've discovered most of it is up on this useful site of translated manga MK linked me to a while back - x/1999 is up there too if you're interested, Maz.
By the way, is the Tsubasa manga still ongoing, or has it finished up?

Both Tsubasa and XXXHolic are still ongoing.
Which is great, except that I am so far behind that its hard to avoid spoilers. I got up to book 7 of Tsubasa before I left Britain; which isn't even as far as the tv series went and I watched all of that. but there are things they never showed on tv that I am aching to read. Plus the books are ahead of the series and I just accidentaly learnt something today that made me desperate to understand... So I'd be really happy if to know that site Firefall ;D

The anime ran for two seasons but CLAMP was annoyed that they were alterring things too much and adding lots of fillers so they revoked the creators rights to it. There was an OVA recently to set it back on track and catch it up to the manga somewhat. Another studio has the rights to a 3rd season but they are a very busy studio and produce several popular animes already at the moment so it might be a bit of a long wait for it to continue.

haha, I just found that site about 30 mins ago. I am now working my way through volume 8!
The OVA was the acid tokyo arc. It was made up of only 3 longer episodes. I've seen them and they're really good. (I know somewhere you can get them until they're licenced if anyone wants to know) I couldn't see what was wrong with the series that came before until I watched them. But the Acid Tokyo OVA was soo amazing and so much more true to the manga than the series became by the end.

i've read 3 books in the second half of the cardcaptor series (master of the clow) and i've seen some of the anime. does anyone know if Sailor Moon's in Manga?

Heehee I've now read all of the Tsubasa available in translation (its at chapter 191) and there is sooo much that has happened and I am now checking on every time I know a new chapter is out in desperation to find out how it is progressing...
Arwen - I believe that I have heard of a manga version of sailor moon and I saw something on one of the online sites once so you can probably find it that way

I think I'm going crazy... I saw several times, somewhere... not sure where, a screen shot off XXXHolic where Watanuki is lying in the road and Yuuko is sat on his back saying 'if you will lie down in the road someone will sit on you'. I really wanted that pic and now its nowhere to be found!

thanks for the link Firefall but sadly it was not there. I did find a whole load of other screencaps there though. My search goes on.
Incidentally, today my flatmate, who is extemely lovely and works in a 'librarie des BD's' (bookshop that sells crtoon books essentially, they also stock pretty much ever manga series I've ever heard of...) brought me the next 4 volumes (8-11) of XXXHolic with the gorgeous french covers that I collect. I had asked her to get them for me as she gets staff discount, but when she gave them to me she said she'd got them really really cheap so they're a present. *hugs books*
[act]sighs enviously[/act] I wish I had friend who could supply me with discounted manga! What are the French covers like?

Excuse the double post, but I was just reading Tsubasa online and had to discuss it somewhere, and I don't know anyone who reads it. Since this is a thread about CLAMP, I thought it might be the appropriate place.
I just finished Chapter 120, and am a little confused about what's happening (possibly because I've read about 30 chapters in one sitting and am positively bleary-eyed, but am having truoble stopping because it's all so good). Maybe someone who's read that far can help me out?
So, the Syaoran we know and love from all the previous chapters is actually a clone of the real Syaoran? And the real Syaoran gave the clone his heart, but now that he's no longer imprisoned by Fei Wang he's taken it back, and the clone has turned heartless and slightly psychotic? So what does that mean for the Syaoran who's been the protagonist all this time? This will probably get cleared up soon anyway, but I just wanted to clarify that the Syaoran I thought was real is actually a clone. Because I'm having a little trouble coming to terms with that. :'(
Oh, and SYAORAN JUST ATE FAI'S EYE WTF. That's all. Thanks.

I'm sure I can help!! I can sympathise with the bleary eyed thing, I did exactly the same - read around 30 chapters in one go online and got majorly confused. Plus ch120 is where it all really starts hitting off.
ah, yes, the sad truth comes out, Syaoran we have known all this time is now known to be a clone. The other Syaoran gave him half his heart to try and foil Fei Wang Reed's plans but once the seal he placed on the eye was broken the half of the heart had to return. Fai tried to stop this but failed and when the clone Syaoran sees his power he wants to have it himself. Fai's magic is in his eyes so eating the eye esentially means SyaoranC now has half his power. A lot more will be explained in the next chapters and for a while you might think TRC makes sense... but don't worry I am reading chapters as they are released in scanlations now and I can tell you that that understanding won't last long and the confusion will return. Right now I am learning a little bit of the whole truth each chapter and its driving me insane having to wait. I'm waiting now as ch193 and 194 are out but not translated yet.
*Sighs* my poor Fai... it was so sad when his eye got eaten, and just wait for what comes next... is it wrong to love a character in a Manga??
Oh and sorry forgot to answer, the french covers are the same design as the rest but they are sort of iridescant and the colours much much less garis and they're black bordered which keeps the look going. Oh and all the spines are different colours too.

If it's wrong to love a manga character so much then we can be wrong together, because I'm pretty sure I want to marry Fai. ::)
Thanks for clearing that up, Maz - and for warning me about the upcoming confusion, because after getting up to Chapter 129 before sleep asserted itself I was just starting to make sense of everything again. But I see now that that was not meant to be.
And now Fai's a vampire, holy smokes! I had heard, a little while ago, a hint that he might be one, but I thought it meant he was one already, not that he'd have to be turned into one to survive after Syaoran's clone gouged out his eye. And when you put it like that...I don't think I would have guessed anyway. :P
Everything has gotten so exciting and confusing and maddening - I loved the manga already (hence the 30 chapters in one sitting), but now I'm just addicted. Blast CLAMP for being so good.
The French covers sound interesting, too. I wish ours were iridescent. ^_^

How often do new chapters come out? Although, since we still have to wait on translations going up, I suppose a better question would be: about how often do new chapters go up online? (I looked to Wikipedia for some answers, and stumbled across some spoilers by mistake, so now I'm staying well away from other websites. :P)

yeah spoilers are pretty widespread... and confusing until you get to the point where you understand what they meant. New chapters are pretty sporadic right now on both TRC and XH but onemanga is the place to find them when they are. When they are on a run of being published it is weekly and the translations usually go up 1 or 2 days after publication. I don't really know where to find a reliable place to tell you when the next chapters are due any more as the old place I used is utterly out of date now and not being updated. So basically I just keep going to stare at onemanga to see if theres anything new for me...
