[act]All is silent across the boards. In the distance there is the comfortingly familiar sound of Rushton being pushed into a pool; somewhere a fangirl shrieks adoringly in her sleep. Otherwise, it is still.
Suddenly there is a faint chiming noise, like whistles or bells. The noise, though soft, grows increasingly louder, until it reaches a sudden pitch that makes the members who have wandered out to investigate jump.
Just as everybody is clapping their hands over their ears, the sound stops and two figures in rather bedraggled gypsy costume leap into view, tugging a wagon behind them.[/act]
Everyone: Gah!
MK: [act]ringing a large, carved bell[/act] Greetings, gentle Obernetters! Remember us?
[act]There is an expectant silence, which nobody fills.[/act]
Firefall: [act]who has been happily swishing her layered skirt, which is sewn all over with bells and so appears to be the source of most of the noise, stops and looks around crossly [/act]You know, the supervisors of the Gypsy Caravan Casino?
Somebody in the crowd: Oh, you mean that caravan that took all our money back in January and then disappeared?
MK: [act]exchanging looks with Firefall [/act]Now, now, you really shouldn’t listen to all that gross slander that’s been going about. We may be slightly behind with your payments, but I assure you we were unavoidably detained.
Firefall: Through absolutely no fault of our own.
MK: In fact, you might say we were victims.
Somebody else: [act]staring at MK[/act] Hey…weren’t you involved in that scandal over the dead body that washed up near…?
MK: [act]speaking over the voice[/act] NOW, AS YOU MAY OR MAY NOT RECALL, just before the release of The Stone Key we gypsyfolk –
Firefall: - out of the inestimable kindness of our hearts –
MK: - held a little betting rig.
Firefall: There were three categories: serious, random and silly bets of what you thought would happen in the book. For more information, you can look through our
records.
MK: Now, we apologise that it took so long. It's hard you know, being just the two of us and calculating the winnings.
Another random: [act]mutters[/act] And pocketing some of that coin for yourself.
MK: Who said that?! Come on - speak up! You have no idea what life has been like for me these past few months, first I'm accused of being a thief and then a murder and now again I'm being accused of being a crook [act]sniff[/act]
Firefall: [act]Pats MK consolingly[/act] There there, all the charges were cleared. [act]the the crowd[/act] We resent that implication!
MK: [act]sniffles[/act] Anyways, we now have the results
Random bystander: About time!
Firefall: [act]peering into the crowd[/act]Ah, now wasn’t that the fellow who not only lost all the coin he bet, but fell heavily into debt from guessing everything WRONG, MK?
Random Bystander: ~:|
MK: [act]peers[/act] Why yes, Firefall, I believe it was.
Random: But, but how does that even –
Firefall: [act]whips out tally sheet and starts viciously crossing out numbers next to the bystander’s name[/act]
Random Bystander: [act]Splutters[/act] But can you really-
MK: [act]Places a negative 50 next to their name[/act] Anybody else want to air their protests?
[act]*Silence.*[/act]
MK: Excellent ;D Well, then, on to the results!
Okay - so the first table outlines the bets and whether or not they came true or not. Green means the bet came true, orange means it did not. For a list of what numbers correspond to which bet, scroll down
this page past our banner :)
1 denotes
serious bets, 2 denotes
random events. Sadly none of the silly bets came true -
Firefall: Call us whatever - but I don't suppose you can call us futuretellers
MK: Oh I don't know, a couple of our bets did make the green!
Firefal: ;D The second table is a break down of the participants who entered the competition and how much each person won according.
MK: Please scroll back through this thread and see what you betted on :)
Firefal: The last table is what each guild won overall
MK: Thank you all to everyone who participated!
Firefall: We hope to get a new thread started to take bets for 'The Sending'!!
MK: If there are any problems [act]shoots at glance at negative 50 guy[/act] :P No seriously, if you think something has been miscaluated or have think differently about the outcome of the bets, please let us know and we'll do our best to help.
Firefall: And I suppose, not penalise you for it [act]hastily rubs away -50 and waves finger at random crowd member[/act]
