Kaede and Ashta, well done on getting right into it!! I'm so happy that you guys are writing so much - a little jealous too actually! :)
Well done to everyone else writing.
Holidays have begun for me finally, so hopefully in the next few days I can meet my 500 words target per day to perhaps build up my words!!!
With a month to go and the year back in full swing, how have people been going? This is the cheer thread, so I hope everyone is having fun writing (or procrastinating :P)

Me also! I had one day of "okay, I can get back into this - woo!" and then I didn't write anymore ::) I still have a week and a bit before I go back to uni, so I might be able to do some more. That's a massive might though.

Work has just settled down for me, so I really got absolutely nowhere with my writing. To make matters worse, my creative outlet recently has been running more in the directions of clothing, mask making and photography.
Good luck to everyone for the final month, no matter what you're up to :)
And once I don't need to worry about being influenced by what I read, I plan on swinging by people's threads and reading what they posted over the three months :)
Here here for the procrastinating. I've been proccupied with tryong to find a place to move to but I can't really use that as much of an excuse but I will anyway.
Good luck to those who are actually getting stuff done though ;) and congrats for actually doing it.

Hehehe, so I maybe might have gotten distracted by a fanfic idea and written 10k towards that instead of my story ~:|
Oh well, even though it means I won't meet my goal, I'm still happy, it's good just to be writing again really. With any luck I'll be able to keep it up during uni and hopefully get back to my story eventually. Good luck to everybody who's still going! :D

Lol I have completely bombed out of this, but I hope everybody else is doing well!!! Uni started on monday, and I already feel stressed :P But only a few days left! so I am going to try and get into some this week while I still can, before I start really hitting uni stuff hard :P Hopefully I will finish half, but thats a big hope :P
Goodluck for everybody else!!! Hope your doing awesome still!
Well, I'm a little embarrassed (given that I first floated the idea). I've bombed out entirely.
December was bust, what with my bother's wedding and preparation, then christmas, recovery from Christmas ... my two weeks of holiday to write didn't happen, and THEN work came back ... with a vengeance.
I'm so tired from work that I now sit in front of the TV every night crocheting granny squares for a blanket and letting my brain recuperate. And next week uni starts back too ... oh dear.
... On the plus side, I have 10 out of 25 squares done ... isn't that lovely! x_X

Well our summer (or winter) of writing is officially over for this year. Congrats to all who made their target and commiserations to those of us who didn't. Hope to see you all back next December for round two. We will leave the threads open for another few days, then close them down, so any last minute updates can be added.

Well done to everyone who took part in OberNoWriSu! It doesn't matter if you met your goal or not, really - the main thing is that writing happened. :D
(Not much writing happened at my place, alas, but I'm working on changing that now.)
We need some more cheer. There has yet to be cheering for this WriMo yet. CHEER CHEER CHEER

Figure we could use some more cheer in here! There has been some serious writing going on :D
For those who haven't made it very far (due to any number of reasons which we shall just call Real Life) here's hoping any issues are resolved and you get a chance to make headway with your goal soon!
[act]Throws Streamers[/act] Keep up the good work everyone!!
I'm hoping everyone's having fun and making progress. I only started last night but I find starting the hardest so I'm quite pleased. I am cheering you all on :D [act]cheers in a quiet manner so as not to disturb the writers[/act]
Again, I think we need some more cheering going on in this thread. [act]starts stringing up balloons[/act]
So, how is everybody going with their writing goals so far? I'm way behind, but there's still time to catch up ;) . . . For now anyway! O_O
It's only mid Jan - definitely plenty of time to catch up! For everyone who's managing to write something, yay! Any words are good words! I wrote some today myself, and they're going to need lots of tweaking, but at least there are words :).

[act]releases left-over Christmas cheer[/act]
Obernetters: o_O
Sian: Well, I couldn't just leave it to go off in the fridge now could I?
I'm about 2500 words short of where I should be today, but I'll see if I can't rectify that in the morning - the post-dawn sort of morning I mean :P
Well done so far to everyone with extra special congratulations to anyone who's actually on target!
[act]magnetises the walls and adds magnetic poetry kits to Sionnain's decorations[/act]
I was wandering around Obernet when I realised that I haven't actually kept everyone uptodate with my progress. So anyway this is what I've been doing. My goal was to write 20,000 words to finish the book I've been writing by the end of February which means I would go from 30,658 words to 50,658. Its only a short book :). So I kept to my schedual of 300 words a day until I went on holidays in early January and didn't write anything for a week. I caught up on the words I hadn't done over about three days. It was then I realised that I wasn't going to finish my book in the amount of words I had left so I increased the number of words I was going to write to 25,000. This meant I needed to write 500 words a day. A couple of days after that I realised that uni starts at the end of February so I should probably try and finish writing before that. So I am now writing 25,000 by the end of January. I have written 50,392 which means I'm 266 words from my original goal but 5,266 from my new goal. As long as I keep writing 1,000 words a day I'll make it.
Anyway, congratulations to everyone for all their hard work this summer. It will all be worth it in the end so keep trying and you'll make it. :D
Woot, Araleen, what great progress, even if you had to tweak your goal a little :D Have you considered starting your own thread to update others on what your story is about? Not everyone does it, and you don't have to, but I know I love reading what everyone writes during the summer/winter :)
[act]throws in wads of confetti to decorations[/act] Keep it up everyone, way to go those who are starting a little late: the more, the merrier! [act]uses ray gun to zap Writer's Block from thread[/act]
Wow, congrats, Araleen. You're so close to finishing! It's great that you have really stuck to trying to write every single day--I really need to get back into that habit again. After thinking taking an internet break in terms of writing, I have completely fallen off the bandwagon in that I have pretty much forgotten I'm even meant to be writing a book, lol. Whoops.

Well I just copied & pasted what I have online so far into a Microsoft Word document, and it's at right around 5,000 words - so I think with the rest of what's handwritten in my notebook I'm at my 10k for now, just have to translate it to the computer. Now my dilemma is - do I want to increase my goal so i'm still writing new material, or should I go back and edit this so it's in story format rather than the current script/conversation layout? Example of the current format (with different words, of course) -
Elspeth: Maruman - I missed you!! I'm so glad to see you - where have you been? We're getting ready to leave for the Red Land now, I hoped you'd turn up! Do you have a message for me from Atthis?
Maruman: You have to leave now - Darga is here.
Elspeth: Now?? But I want to say goodbye to everyone first! What should I send down to take on the ship with me?
Maruman: You're not going on the ships, anything you send down will wait for you forever! Now get going!
Elspeth: Okay - this must be why Maryon sent me those gifts, right? And the travel food from the kitchens will certainly be useful..... I think I'm ready now.
Maruman: Don't forget the memory seed and the stone sword.
Elspeth: THANK YOU - I almost left them here!
Maruman: Ok, let's get out of here - and be quiet about it, it's important that nobody sees you leave!
That's an approximation as I don't have my books in front of me, but you get the idea. I could easily significantly increase my word count by putting it in actual story format, but then I can always do that later and for now just try to increase the length of what I have written, as the scene I'm working on isn't over yet and there's an easy transition to another scene after that. Maybe I should do both - push my goal out to 10k of additional material in February (so >20k total), AND fix the current writing so that it's in story/novel format rather than a script-type conversation between two (or sometimes three) main characters in the story.

Sian: Have I got some cheer for you!
[act]dredges up Gilbert in his horrifying pink cheerleader costume from the uber impossible ober quiz '09[/act]
All: [act]cringe in horror[/act] :X
Gilbert: That's not very nice! :'(
Sian: Get on with it already.
Gilbert: You're eyes, are burning!
. . . . I bet your stomach's turning!
. . . . So get your pen on paper,
. . . . And write those words your yearning!
. . . . It sucks, aint fair!
. . . . But I don't really care!
. . . . And until you get some words down,
. . . . I'm not going any where!
Sian: If that aint incentive, I don't know what is! ;D
Tiffanyanne, I think what it comes down to is what you find easiest as a writer.
If it were me, I'd start by finishing that scene off in your script format and then putting it all into story format after that because I find editing so much easier than writing things down the first time - the words literlally rearrange themselves before my eyes [act]is squashed by the gayroller 2000[/act] okay, okay, so not literally, but it feels like it!
But you might not be like me. If you've got ideas about how to reformat what you've got that you think might run away and never come back, reformat first.
I just like to put down whatever's less solid in my mind down first so I don't forget about it. The more solid thing will be there waiting when I want it.
