I have an outline for the majority of a novel and I'm hoping to figure out the conclusion of the plot before December 1st. During December and January and the first half of Feb (I start honours in the middle of February), I hope to get a very rough draft of the whole story written. I'm not going to set myself a total word count as I really don't know how long the story will be, but to keep myself moving along, I'm going to aim to write around 1300 words a day (If I go to the 14th of Feb, that's a total of 98800. I don't actually expect or intend to write that much, but hopefully a goal for each day will keep me writing).
And thanks for running OberNoWriSu for another year Ari! :D

Yay! Another year of OberNoWriSu! :D Thanks Ari!
I'll do it again this year, because it was soooo fun last year (summer/winter, was in Europe for most of it) but currently I have absolutely no idea as to a plot or anything. Aiming for the target of 50 000, which may change as I go along.
Have fun everyone who plans to do it! :)
I'm aiming to finish a started story and submit it - I have about 15,000 words of it, but I'm aiming to get it to about 50,000.
I have a fair bit of holidaying on my own, so hopefully that will give me time to write ...

I was wondering if we were doing this again! YAY :)
I want to try to do an outline of a novel I've been working on for several years. I aim to write 1000 words per week during December and will try to up this a bit more during January - I'm aiming to write a little per day, so perhaps I will try for 200 words per day during January. I will still be at work during December but things would have considerably slowed down and I will have less classes during then. January I will certainly be on holidays, so we shall see how I go. I would love to get to 10,000 words, so we shall see how I go!

I'm throwing my hat back into the ring this year, although being the busy period for me it could spell disaster.
However! In all my optimism, my aim this year is to have 10,000 words for the combined months of December and January, and if all goes well, maybe another 5,000 words for February.
Fingers crossed it goes better this Summer than last!
Good luck to everyone with your writing. Hopefully come this time in Feb....which will technically be March :P .... everyone has reached their goals! :D
As I failed nanorwrimo this year with a grand total of 1000 words, I am going to try for this one over my winter break. I want to write over 20,000 words between two novels I am working on. Neither of these was the one I tried to began for nanowrimo because that was simply a fail.
One of the stories has 15,339 words, and the other has 9,833 words. Both are fantasy stories.
Well, I sort of missed the start of OberNoWriSu as I was planning/throwing a baby shower but I'm totally excited about this now!
I'm wanting to write a story - about which I've been thinking for many months but haven't had the motivation to properly pen down. I've written a quite a few notes, ideas and theories but haven't put pen to paper with the actual story so I'm hoping to write 10,000 words. This may change if I reach my target but that's my base goal. I'm hoping to write and if I don't like it, approach it the next day.. So wish me luck! :)

I'm going to aim to write at least a total of 50 000 words over the summer, original and fanfiction*.
I'm also aiming that at least 5000 of these should be for my original stories. Yes, I am aware of how bad that sounds. What can I say? I'm realistic :P Besides, I have five or six fanfics composting in my brain right now and only two original pieces, one of which is barely in the forming stage.
I would actually make the original fic goal larger, but my current piece is quite short and I already have a fair bit of it written anyways, so I don't want to aim for more words than it has room for.
* Deb said during last year's OberNoWriSu that it's OK to include fanfiction, please correct me if this is no longer true.

Writing is writing Sian, fanfic is fine.
I'm going to aim for 10,000 words for the three months, partly to write a story and partly for some poetry that is buzzing around my brain.
Good luck everyone.
Are we going to be posting our updates/progress in our own threads again this year? Last summer/winter's threads are locked, so do we create new ones or do we just post in one of the general threads?
Good luck everyone! Get those writing caps on. :D
I'm failing a bit so far but am definitely going to try and get into writing ASAP. There's a lot going on in my head right now so maybe I can channel that into a positive creative force! ^^;
Good luck all!

Thanks for bringing that up Fate. I'll unlock your old thread so you can post your updates in there.
If anyone else needs theirs unlocked for this years updates (I think it best to use previously created threads if you have one), please PM me and I will open it ASAP :)
For anyone who didn't participate and/or create a thread last year, please feel free to do so.

I am going to aim for 30,000 because I am working on one from last year and I am going to be away quite a bit in Jan and Feb :)
People can also PM me to open old threads if you like ariadne :) Takes some of the work load off :)
I am aiming low compared to last year, because I seem to have forgotten how to write. So a 50,000word goal.
I'm going to try this, hopefully it will get me motivated enough to finish something.
So my aim is at least 20,000 words between now and the end of January.
So this is very, very late, but I've finally made a start on the novel I've been meaning to write since I was a teenager. I'm aiming for a very tiny word count, because between the summer subject I'm doing, the extra reading I'm trying to do in preparation for next semester's subjects, and other RL distractions, I have very little time! Also, I haven't written fiction since Year 12, and my stories have NEVER been more than a couple of thousand words long.
So, my aim is 10,000 real words (not outlines) till the end of Feb.

A rather delayed post, but I am participating now until the end of summer and aim to achieve 5000 words :)

Better late than never! Not that it's really late....I'm just going to stop there.
Good luck with your goal Arwen :)
I hit 10,000 words tonight. Yippee! So, somewhat optimistically, given I'm going to need to start doing reading for uni before the end of Feb, I'm upping my target to 20,000. May not get there, but I'll have fun trying.

Well done DargaFleas! Congratulations!
OK, at the stroke of midnight on the final day of ObernoWriSu, here's my final result (I'd been writing furiously until then, trying to get as many words done as possible :D).
Chapters completed: 5 (+ 2650 words of chapter 6)
Word count: 36,274
It's all going to slow down now, but here's hoping for at least some steady progress throughout the year, now that I've got a bit of forward momentum on this thing.
Hope everyone else has had a good OberNoWriSu, as well :).
Woo, congrats, Darga. I'll need to check out the rest of your snippets and such when I get the time again.
I haven't been around Ober much over the last week of two, but I did manage to hit my goal of 50,000 words. I think my complete total is around 58,000 but as I have yet to type it all up yet, so not entirely sure.
Hope everyone at least had FUN during this OberSu even if they didn't reach their goal or get any writing done at all.

I had a party going on in my head ... unfortunately, several of the factions in the party were at loggerheads ... so I got a story plan written out, but that was all ...

Despite my best intentions, I didn't get much writing done at all (mainly because I was so focused on reading and almost reaching my reading goal). I had so many ideas, one of which I do intend to continue this year, without waiting for summer to come around again.
Well done to everyone who succeeded :D
