Hi everyone. I have a novel that I need to entirely rewrite thanks to some very good advice during the writers festival. I have written 3300 words so far and I am aiming for another 10 000 words before university goes back in late July. I think I can do it if I set my mind to it and people are around to encourage
This is possibly a silly question, but how public are posts about our writing? It's just that while I'd love to post bits of my ms up as proof of writing something, I do want this book to be publishable one day!
Oh, and I've written 1200 words today. Hopefully I can get another 1500 done today :)
Thanks :)
I may just avoid posting snippets for a bit, and keep people posted here then, till I can join prodders :)
My novel is YA. It's about 16 year old Claire who must travel into a fantasy world from our own in order to rescue her brother, who was kidnapped in order to fufill a phrophecy.
Sounds exciting! How long have you been writing it? You say you're doing a rewrite - does that mean you finished a first draft?
Can't wait to get updates :)

I've been writing this story since I was 17, but the original story was such an Isobelle rip it was absolutely mortifying. When I told her that at the Syd. Writers Fest she laughed alot! Made me feel a bit better ;)
I've been working on it alot since then but put it away for a bit in 2009 for a second ms idea. I despaired of ever getting the story to work but I got into a class with Kate Forsyth during the writers fest this year based off the original ms and now I am applying her advice in my rewrite. Yes, it was written but it was awful, the WORST thing ever. Just quietly.
Hopefully, it will be better for rewriting :)
And just wrote 1379 more words. Yay for holidays!
Hurray! You can join my club of 'ohgodsthehorrorsofrewritingwhydoesittakesolongahhh' etc. etc. First drafts are designed to be terrible--that is my theory and what I am sticking to anyway, so good luck with the re-write whereupon I'm sure it'll become awesome.
Ha ha. Yeah, CAN'T WAIT for my first draft to be finished so I, too, can join your club, Sionainn.
And oops about ripping off IC, DweomerOfLight. But I suspect we all do it, to some extent. What's that theory - that every thought you've had, someone else has had before? I'm sure most of my book is based on (yeah, yeah, alright - ripped off from :P) other authors' work.
Well done with your wordcount, BTW. You're doing splendidly so far. And I agree with Sionainn. It'll definitely be awesome once rewritten.

You bet me to it Deb ;)
Welcome to Writersmerge Dweomeroflight and congrats on such a positive beginning to your re-write! If you ever feel up to sharing some of your work in Prodders, you will have a willing audience :) Hopefully the second month of OberNoWriWin will give you a kick start, and Prodders will help keep you going, though you do sound motivated enough without it :)
I'm really excited to see so many writers sharing their work and giving feedback! ;D
Great progress! I hope you manage to achieve your goal (not that I doubt you!). I agree that second drafts are always 20 million times better that the first. Good luck!
^I certainly hope mine is better for a rewrite Vestie!
I have posted my prolouge to Prodders to give you guys an idea of what I'm working on. Over the next week and a half I can't write much (I'm on holiday and also very busy with work) so won't be able to word count update. I'll take my note book on holiday with me and hand write some stuff and type it up for the word count when I get back :)
Sounds good, DweomerOfLight. Enjoy your holiday.
Getting started again now- I will word count update when I am done :)
Sure just fixing it all up now. It's not very good sigh.
It's a first draft! First drafts are designed for horror and agony :nods: though I'm sure it will be fine. [strike]Yikes, we guys are so self critical XD[/strike]
Good job on your progress! I haven't written anything for a while. I'm gonna do some of my own now. Hey! You've inspired me to do some more writing! Thankyou ;D
It'll be great! And congratulations. And everyone's first drafts are better than they think [strike](except mine, which are worse - Shonk, don't know what you mean about us being self-critical :P).[/strike]
Shut up, Darga ::) I haven't read any of your recent work (not part of Prodders :P ) but the older stuff is great.
(sorry for using your thread, DweomerInFlight :P)
Stay out of Prodders, Vestie. There are some strange people in there :D (Me, for example!)
Seriously, if you want to post some of your work in there rather than out in the public forum, just ask a mod and get an invitation.
Do I have the to ask the mods of Prodders?
Yeah, just PM one of them. I posted a link earlier on in this thread with info about Prodders; that'll tell you who the mods are.
It's a stickied thread at the top of writermerge forum, if you can't find the link. Or you could just contact Debt. She always knows who you can ask to get added.
Thankyou guys. I will check that now :)
