I've found that the pieces I've hated the most are the ones that everyone else has liked the best :p If you're really having trouble, post it up. Sometimes a little encouragement does wonders.
Likewise! It does make you feel better to have people offer criticism and encouragement.
And I am back writing again today. Expect a massive chunk on prodders lol
Excellent [act]stashes cattle prod away[/act] :D
I need to fix up a poem for a zine too. It may end up on Prodders for critique sigh. Oh- and I have a short story idea too. What is writing life? Damn that muse making me get no thesis done.
My sympathies :). My desire to get my last thre chapters written is a lot greater than my desire to study :)

What sort of error are you getting DOF?
I tried posting one of my snippets once, and there was one word in the whole piece that Obernet didnt like. You might have to try posting bit by bit until it stops you?? If that's the problem anyway.

Writing more words today!
Edit: Just hit over my 10 000 word goal today!!! I want to keep going to the end of the chapter before I post the exact word count and put it on prodders, but yeah I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW.
Woot! Excellent work Dweo. No cattle prod for you today. :D
Congratulations!!! Yay, DoL. that's an excellent achievement :)
Just written 1780 words and chapter four is finished. *does war dance*
My word count for the OBerNAWRISU is now 10, 759 words.
My overall story count is now 14, 644
Good work, DoL! You're doing brilliantly :)
I'm afraid I will have to slow it right down now because uni is back and my thesis is due end of october *eek*
I think I will participate here in the winter NANO because having you guys really helped me achieve my goal. I'd like to have 20- 25 000 words written by the time my thesis is in, and then write the remaining words of the revised draft in the holidays over three months.
That sounds like a good goal. Back last semester when I was in the throes of a horrible uni workload, I made a commitment to write about 5k a month, which worked well for me. If I had really busy weeks, I didn't write; then wrote a little bit more the week after. Sounds like you're aiming for a similar sort of thing. And keep announcing to people how you're doing; then you'll get prodded and still remember to keep that commitment you made, even when uni beckons :).
Good luck with your thesis, and your plan sounds very achievable.
And on that note, time to get a bit of writing done myself. [act]Rubs hands, and dives headfirst into her Reticulum.[/act]
Do we get guild points for reaching our word count goal? How does it work?
I need to go back and edit the first 3-4000 words of my ms. Remember the shaky tenses coz I switched from first to third? It's going to drive me mad unless I fix it.

[act]shrug[/act] I don't think so. I don't think we did for the summer one, but I could be wrong. Ari will know.
I suspect it's more just the respect and admiration of our peers (and more importantly, the self-satisfaction that meeting a goal like this brings) :)
Edit: I'll go read your snippet soon. Just have to finish writing this chapter...
I'm just doing some thesis stuff and then I am going to revise the start of my story. Should I post my revised, revised stuff to prodders?
I want to rewrite 65 000 words of my story by the end of December. I finish uni the first week of November on the 7th. Do you think that is achievable? How many words would I have to write per day as I cannot start working on my novel till uni is finished?
Yeah, it's achievable if you get on a roll. I've just had a look at my progress spreadsheet, and I wrote close to 87,000 words from Jun 13th - Jul 28th this year. The first three or so weeks of that was in uni mid-semester break, but the rest was during uni (although admittedly I was only doing two subjects this semester). Still, doable.
I don't like giving myself day by day targets, personally - there will always be days when you don't end up doing writing for whatever reason. I like weekly targets, instead. So, let's say you start writing on Monday Nov 12th, and keep going till Sun Dec 30th. That gives you 7 weeks, so you're looking at approx 10k words a week (9285.7 words if you want to get precise :P). That's definitely doable if you don't have too many RL distractions.
