This thread is to explain how judging of Moonfair 2012 competitions takes place.
Volunteering for judging is now open.Judges will be required to examine each entry submitted against the competition unbiasedly and decide who receives first, second and third place.
To try and make it as fair as possible, we require two people to judge each competition, and for the two of you to collaborate over who will receive placement points. And due to the competitive nature of Moonfair, unless the competition is an official Guild competition, or both initial creators of the competition are of the same guild and wish to judge it, the two judges will need to be from different guilds. This applies to competitions where creativity is being judged.
Forum comps or Q&A type competitions (where the answers are set in stone, eg a quiz) only require one judge, or a point gatherer in the case of forum comps.
To be a judge for a competition: - If you created the competition you get first dibs to judge the competition - just say so and we'll make it so.
- If you created the competition and the answers / locations / any specifics that would give you an unfair advantage over others are known to you, you can't enter it - so consider judging it.
- If you created the competition and don't want to judge it (eg, if you entered it), say so here and we'll mark it as open for judges.
- If you are definitely interested in judging one of the open-for-judges competitions, say so. Please don't post responses such as 'I'm happy to judge anything' :P - we will be after general volunteers should the need arise to call in substitute judges, but not to start with.
- Remember - if you entered it, you can't judge it.
- If you see a member from your guild has already been accepted as a judge for a competition, please don't also volunteer for that. The two judges need to be from different guilds where possible.
If you volunteer to judge something please consider your availability: we will advise how long you have to judge once the Moonfair entries have been collected (there are always a
lot of last minute entries, so give us a couple of days to go through them).
If you volunteer but are unable to judge due to an unexpected circumstance please let us know
ASAP so a substitute judge can step in for you.
Important dates:- You can volunteer to judge up to 10 November
- Judging results need to be submitted by 24 November
And to submit your decision/points earned:- If the competition you are judging had definite answers, or was a forum comp, please post answers and points earned in the thread. You can also post which members scored which points there, as it's rather obvious / no creative judging required. Please still send your final list of members, guilds, and points acquired to the Moonfairy in a PM, so we have it on record.
- If you're judging a creative competition, please review the entries, and collaborate with your partner on who should get first, second, and third via PM. Once you've determined the winners, please PM the results to the Moonfairy and include the competition name in the subject line. Please don't post winners of creative comps in the threads, as its these winners who usually determine who wins Moonfair, and we'd like to keep that a surprise. Once the final guild placings are announced, we will update each thread with who won/came second/third.
Please format your PM to the Moonfairy something like this: Winners
1st: name / Guild - points earned
2nd: name / Guild - points earned
3rd: name / Guild - points earned
(also please note that if there's a tie for any of the places, they have the points split between them - there's no doubling of winnings points)
Totals:
Ashlings - points earned
Dreamweavers - points earned
Mystics - points earned
Wanderers - points earned
