That couch bit was funny, but sadly missing the score of apes trying to get Ford and Arthur to look at their Hamlet play.... [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/>
love the books, but i think the first one was the best one. The last one wasn't too bad either, but it really needed for him to write a 6th, which i think he intended... but i suppose we'll never know.
I didn't like the last one, I liked the first one, a little less the second but still liked, same with the third it went down a bit more the fourth went down more and then the fifth was like "Eh..." and i read somewhere he was intending to write another cause he didn't like how that ended the series, but then of course he was rudely interrupted by dying...
yes, I always wanted to see the infinite number of monkeys' play...
There are 5 books?? Awe, the all-in-one volume that I'm getting only has 4 ...
The fifth book is Mostly Harmless, and its not in my all in one book either [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/sad.gif" alt=":(" border="0"/> .. i didnt like the fifth one as much tho, although i love the first four so much i could not pick a favourite part, however i do love the whale and bowl of petunias, Its a classic!
has anyone else read any other douglas adams books... cos i love the Meaning of Liff and the Deeper Meaning of Liff... very funny
I really want to red those two but they're not in any libraries i've been in! And I want to read Last Chance to See since it sounds really interesting!
I'm planning on borrowing "The Salmon Of Doubt" from my friend one of these days, cos she said it's pretty good ...
Finally read all of Hitchhikers now!! [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/grin.gif" alt=";D" border="0"/> And I must say I was disappointed with the 5th book as well. 1,2,3 were probably my favs. lol, but I did love that poor guy that was destined to be killed over and over by Arthur!!! [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/grin.gif" alt=";D" border="0"/> lol, and how the planet he was supposed to kill him on in the future turned out to be the name of a club!! [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/grin.gif" alt=";D" border="0"/> All in all, I quite enjoyed it, and now my friend has them [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/>
Yeah,we own Salmon Of Doubt. It's not actually a story, it's a whole lot of articles and things he wrote and stuff they found on his computer after he died.
Ahhh, so that's what it is. Still, sounds interesting.
It is. It's also got a few chapters from a new Dirk Gently book he was wrinig when he died at the end. This makes me want to read it again, and since I have nothing else to do, I think I shall.
Bugger! A third Dirk Gently book would've gone down well!
Well, he wasing having issues with it in that some of the stuff he ws trying to put in it should have been in a Hitchhiker novel but he didn't want to write another Hitchhiker novel. There were three different versions of the Dirk Gently novel that they had so far and his editor picked the bits that went best together and showed what he was thinking.
Cat
the thing about the hitchikers guide to the galaxy is, it's a radio play, book and has been made into at least two movies so there's heaps of quotes
this is from the recent movie with Zooey Deschanel and Alan Rickman
Zaphod: Freeze!
Marvin: Freeze? I'm a robot not your refrigerator
and these from the original radio play
the Book: in those days, men were real men, women were real women, and small furry creatures from alpha centauri were real small furry creatures from alpha centauri
Ah HH2tG :)
I think i like the tv series more than the movie (where's the sequel? lol) and the books more than the tv series...
One of my fave quotes was Gods final message to his creation...
"Sorry for the inconvience"
And the one that seeking Innle mentioned...
the Book: "in those days, men were real men, women were real women, and small furry creatures from alpha centauri were real small furry creatures from alpha centauri" lol
and the pan-galactic gargle blaster, drinking its like having your head hit with a large gold brick with a bit of lemon around it
this ones not exactly a Hitch-hikers quote, but still-
"Not bad for a man in his jim-jams, very Arthur Dent. Now there was a nice man!" The Doctor, The Christmas Invasion, Doctor Who
^now there's proof that they are in the same 'universe'
There's a TV series as well??????
ok so this isnt a quote... but you can quote me on this mwuahahaha
i love the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, i have the first two books in the series and the movie... theyre super cool
