It's true... every night (almost) i dream about being chased. does anyone have any idea why? By the way, i might record some of my other dreams here, whenever i have any, cos it is kinda interesting! [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" alt=":)" border="0"/>CW.
Is there any problems in your life at the moment. Anxiety or worry can sometimes cause the sensation of being chased in your dreams
Do you know who/what you're being chased by?
You usually are only get chased by something if there is a problem in your life that you are constantly avoiding or are afraid to confront. Maybe you don't quite know it exists, but you need to realise what it is and fix the problem, otherwise the torment will continue.
Garn! Where do I start...? Yeah, there are a lot of problems. You know what? I have no idea what i'm being chased by, but i'm always really frightened and i always keep running.
Well, I probably would if it occurred to me, but no matter what it never does [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/sad.gif" alt=":(" border="0"/> I wonder what I'd see anyway..?
To really register that in your dream (to think 'lets turn around and face my fears') you should practice lucid dreaming a bit, so you learn to recognise and control your dreams whilst you have them.
Huh? That's that thing like daydreaming or something, isn't it?
you can actually PRACTICE that? how, tell me, i'll pay you in shoes.
Yes, it is possible to do, but it requires commitment. Let me explain first what it is.
Lucid dreaming is basically a dream within which you wake up to a certain degree of consciousness and are able to control your dreams. When you fall asleep, your body shuts down all external movement capabilities, so you aren't able to act out your dreams, otherwise you might end up half way down the street. This is one of the many advantages of lucid dreaming. You can go wherever you want in the blink of an eye, do whatever you want without it affecting your real life. You can even use it to practice skills and talents which will help them in real life. For example if you couldn't play a song on the instrument you were learning, you could practice for hours in the lucid dream, thus imprinting it on your subconscious, with it really only taking up a few minutes of normal time.
There are a huge number of techniques available for lucid dreaming, so I will only explain a few of my favourites.
1). As you are going to sleep, keep your mind active so that your body falls asleep, but your mind stays awake as you go into dreaming mode. This can be done by thinking of a recurring memory over and over until you start to see colourful lights (hypnagogic imagery), and then visualising (with every sense - smell, taste, feel, sight) going up in an elevator, or jumping off a building. Naturally, your reaction will be to snap awake (it's probably happened before, you half dream your going to fall over, then you snap awake all of a sudden), but you have to push past this calmly to be able to do it. It will feel quite weird at first, not being able to move your body, tingly feelings etc. but the main thing is to not let yourself get too excited, otherwise you will wake up. From here you can go on to dream about whatever you want. Remembering you are in complete control of whatever you do. If throughout the dream (and this works for any lucid dream) you start to feel like you are waking up), spin around in the dream, and this usually helps you come back into the dream. Eventually this will be really easy to do and you won't have to worry about it.
2). Throughout the day, question to yourself 'Am I dreaming or is this real?' and when you have a dream, at times you will start to question this too. Then you might see a pink elephant, and have that question come to your head at the same time. You will realise you are dreaming and instantly become lucid.
3). One thing that helps any of these techniques is to write down and remember as much as you can from each dream every night. This helps you to recognise 'Dream symbols' so that when you are dreaming, you are more likely to realise that you are.
4). Another is to designate a certain object as your 'questioning object'. Everytime, throughout the day, that you see this object, question yourself if you are dreaming or not. That way, when you see one in your dream, you will question that same question. Obviously, the more common or significant the object, the more likely it is that it will appear in your dream.
5). The fifth, and easiest, is whilst trying one of these others or a combination of them, you have to have a deep desire to lucid dream. Even just thinking about it through the day helps so much. When I started just wanting to lucid dream, I would go from having one a year, to five a week. Just like that. Wanting and thinking about it can be enough, but once you get there, you will love it so much you will want to go back.
Any questions, feel free to ask. Hope it helps, and keep me posted on your progress.

i think ive had lucid dreams before. it was a weekend for example, i woke up remembering a really great dream and thought, OOooo i wanna have that dream again, within minutes i was back asleep dreaming the same dream but i had control over what happened.
this has only happened once though. i'll try those things and see if i can do it again [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/cool.gif" alt="8-)" border="0"/>

My friend who is a blondie and looks like a llama, i mean, my sister, wants to say something (sorry... susrid overdose for a minute there!) Anyways... Blondie:hi!!ummm.......well.....er....i dream about stuff like going to school, which is really weird, coz the only reason i like 2 go 2 school is coz my best friends are there:)wow!!! i didn't say anything blondish!!!

Yeah, no probs, like I said before, let me know how it goes.

Stephen, how do you pronounce your name. Stevan or Steffen or [whatever else] [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/huh.gif" alt="???" border="0"/>
He... hey! I did it... kinda! I knew i was dreaming... though it was kinda an insignificant kind of dream. school and friends and the like... but it's a start!!!
i almost hate you! but of course i could never do that!! well done. i suppose it doesnt matter WHAT the dream was about, with practice, you can make it whatever you want.
i still feel ripped off though, i go to bed thinking mmmmm i wonder if i can do it. and i wake up having dreamed about..... ahem...never you mind. but still. Grrr.
He he he guess what Siryn??? I did it again and this time ti was what i really wanted!! I dreamed i was o n a balcony of this apartment that I stayed at like three years ago and, then, as usual, i felt this compulsion to run. I was frightened as usual but then I saw my cat and I was using her to question when I was awake and when I was asleep and then I realised I was asleep. I stopped myself from running and I turned around to see why... THERE WAS NOTHING THERE!!!!
OMG!! SO YOU WERE RUNNING AWAY FROM NOTHING!!!!!
maybe (in real life) whatever you were trying to avoid or put off has passed? is that possible? apart from that i think this is really cool.
