I was just wondering iif our speculation of who the destroyer is might be helped by a speculation of where the deathweaponmachines are (puzzle piece effect), i haven't paid particular attention to where the machines are though i guess i should of since elspeth needs to journey to that place near the end. The 5 signs will help her of course but yeah.. where do you think the deathweaponmachines are?
lol the map to them being burnt for known reasons..

I think that the death weapon machines are somewhere in the blacklands, on the other side of the mountains. You know that Elspeth must go to a building, Sentinel, and she keeps dreaming of a tunnel, in the distance, so I think it's in the blacklands somewhere.
I'm not sure where each individual weapon machine is, but does that really matter? I was under the impression that Elspeth would only have to shut down the Sentinel, and that would destroy all of the weaponmachines.
As to the location of the Sentinel, isn't it pretty much confirmed that the Sentinel is the Entina? (the mysterious beast in the Red Queen's land).
So that means that Elspeth will have to travel to the Red Queen's land to destroy the Sentinel. I always thought that there might be an underground tunnel or something, where the slaves are led into the den of the Entina. I'm not sure where the dripping water would come from, though.
Yes, I think someone.... Atthis or Maruman, maybe, said Disable not destroy.
Hi everyone, I'm new here and I've been trolling the forums all day but haven't come across anything about Entina. So short of starting a new thread I thought I'd put the idea out here. Has anyone else mentioned the fact that Entina is sENTINAl minus the first and last letters?
Thanks, just had to get that off my chest!
Yes... sorry. That's been around for a while... you should read some of the posts more thoroughly.
Yep, I think that's been discussed in a few other threads, but they are hard to find. :)
I mentioned in my above post that the Entina is the Sentinel, and I think someone else suggested that the first and last letters could have been corroded away on the Sentinel machine, making it read Entina.
But in a website as big as this. almost everything is bound to have been mentioned at least once before. :) It's a good observation.
A few Guesses:
Sador, Earthtemple
Herder Isle, Somewhere..
Abourium, Library Ruins
Guanette, With Malik?
Yep, there all stupid but plausable :)
As much as I hate to say it, I think the weaponmachines are on the moon now ([act]watches out for Firefall[/act]). It's the only really logical reason Maruman would hate it so much. That, and the fact we know the weapons themselves were put on neutral territory...and unless Switzerland was around in the Beforetime as it is today, I don't know where on earth could have pulled that off. Oh, and there's an ominious looking moon on the front cover of the Sending. [act]sighs[/act] C'mon, gloat at me. You've been trying to convince me for years...
Other than that, the weaponmachines could be in Silent Vale? When Elspeth drops that rock into the chasm at the very beginning and hears an unearthly sort of roaring; I dunno, it might be part of it. I think it'd round things off nicely to end somewhere near where the whole thing began.
The control station for the weaponmachines, which is the bigger problem, is the Entina/Sentinal - in the Land of the Red Queen. It can trigger the weapomachines to be released, or put to sleep forever/self destruct/whatever would stop them from causing the 2nd great white. That's all Elspeth has to stop.
Darn I just realised that my herder isle thing is really stupid. Hmmm... Im not very far in TKP so expect my therories to be a little off.
I have the answer.
THE WEAPON MACHINES ARE EVERYWHERE!
No really, if you think about it, it might be in/a part of/a underground tunnel network. It comes close to the surface in places like silent vale, but the initial entrance is entina.
Voila!

I think the deathweaponmachines are in the red queen's land. I think the place for Elspeth to go is the place that slaves are sent and always die. The key stops the entina from hurtig her. That is the key Dragon had. The location of the machines. And the gadi writing said something about a place that only Dragon had gone and Elspeth would go.
Haha, is it sad that Min has almost convinced me that the Weaponmachines are actually on the moon? I mean, it makes some sense, right? ~:| And IC could use Entina as a red herring to turn in it all into a plot twist?
...Oh wait....Elf can't really get to the moon...Dammit, foiled! *facepalm*

I often think that they're on the moon
...
though funnily enough the biggest convincer for me was Doctor Who o_O ~:|
There's certainly something up there.
Though I really hate the moon theory [act]winces and looks around in a paraoid way for Firefall again[/act] it still makes too much sense. As you Sian / the Doctor said, "There's certainly something up there" :P
I don't think Elspeth needs to go to the moon to deactivate them either. All of the weaponmachines, no matter where they're stored, are controlled by the Sentinel and the BOT - and that is in Redland. They can't activate if their controlling unit is destroyed (the whole, guns don't kill people, people kill people thing. Except it's Sentinel kills people ~:| ).
They could just stay on the moon - or wherever - and rot away silently. The fact that they're on the moon is more a theory around why Maruman hates it, and not about where Elspeth will have to travel IMO...
Min, I'm with you on this. I think the moon as well, have for a while now.
It isn't just Maruman who dislikes the moon, so did Rushton's women ancestors. There is something foreboding about it and I can't think of any other reason than that the weapons are there. I think it makes sense, doesn't have to be a lame plot. The Dark Road mentions human magical feats as Hannah jr percieves it and this is mentioned in relation to the moon. I think this means how humans can travel there and if they can go up there, they can certainly put weapons there.
It owuld only be silly, I think, if Elspeth had to take a space shuttle to the moon. Lamo! I don't see that happening though, lol.

I've never been entirely convinced by the moon theory, but, like Min I have to agree that it does make sense, although it would be a little too convinient, in my mind - having the actual weaponmachienes in a place where no one on Earth could reach them (until technology catches back up)
On this topic though, we now know, via The Dark Road, that Jacob carried out some important task for Hannah Sr. in the beforetime city at the end of the black road...what if this task involved readying a vehicle (either terrestrial, aerial or nautical) to help Elspeth?
If she did need to go to the moon, that could be a way for her to get there, as I'm sure there would also be the appropriate protective clothing she would need...
Blackbird, I hope Elspeth doesn't go to the moon. I think that would be a bit lame...
And with the computers on Earth, nobody would need to go there. I'm sure the government would not place weapons somewhere that would require loads of money to get access to. Computer control is much more practical, logical.

I've half thought that the moon could be the location, or that the moon got some how damaged by the great white/weapon machines. If the moon is the location of the weapon machines, I imagine it as a colonized place, which might explain why certain characters have been known to look up at it, knowing that the beforetimers are still up there. Perhaps it is still growing. Or if it was damaged, those that stare at it, know what it once looked like. Hmm I guess that asks the question weather or not Elf has seen the moon from the past...I can't remember if she has.
Either way, I agree with others, that Sentinel and the BOT are the things Elf will be going after.
I think that a civilisation on the moos seems unlikely. It's such a huge deal and surely there would be some hint. I just don't see the point of Isobelle allowing for a civilisation there, it wouldn't (seem) to fit into the plot comfortably. What do you think?

Oh, I don't deny that it is Sentinel and BOT that will most likley Elspeth's goal, merely pointing out that we might have been given a clue into some more Beforetime technology that might be made available to her, and that it could very well facilitate her being able to travel beyond the current capacity of her time (even to the moon, if need be)
Edit: in Farseekers, when they access the library, they discuss things they've heard about the Beforetimers, and things that they read in the books. Some are dismissed as impossible - under-the-cities are mentioned I believe, as well as air/space(?) travel, while other things are believed - Kella is fascinated by mermaids, and believes they were real... If there had been any sort of organised living on the moon, it wouldn't be too hard to imagine the information quickly becoming fable, and lost, as it would seem so improbable to a pre-industrial civilisation...
Space travel certainly, and that is a clue as to why the weapons may be on the moon but I just don't think there is necessity to actually travel to the moon. And I doubt that Elspeth oculd learn to navigate a space shuttle. If she has some magical experience that gives her the knowledge, I can't imagine it not being cheesy. But I could be proven wrong!

Oh, I doubt Elspeth would need to do much actual work in utilising any sort of Beforetime vehicle - I've said before that I think Elspeth will find INES/a sister to INES in the city (hence the importance of her meeting/interacting with INES in the Beforetime complex), and that kind of computer/A.I. would be more than capable of operating a vehicle remotely, Elspeth would just need to hop in and enjoy the ride...
I'm a bit doubtful about the whole space travel thing... although if the moon were an accessible place then it would be a likely spot for the weaponmachines to be. What with all the hatred and speculation and such.
I, personally, have always thought Silent Vale. Like Min said, it would just be a nice finish to have it all end where it began.
