Obernewtyn.net is starting its own book club!
November's read: The Big Over Easy by Jasper Forde
It’s pretty straight forward – each month, a new book will be announced here in this thread. We’ll give Obernetters 2 weeks to read the book, before we open this thread up for discussion. This is to give people a chance to read the book, for those of us who have other commitments, or don’t have the speed reading skills that some members *cough*Deb*cough*Lioness*cough* possess ;). So please don't start your discussions until the two week period has lapsed.
We’ll pose a few discussion questions to help people start off and then otherwise, feel free to chat away!
There’s no obligation to participate, and at the same time there will be no guild points awarded. This is just a fun thing for people to come together a chat about what they’ve been reading. Sort of like the ‘I’m reading’ thread, except – now lots of people are reading the same thing :) If you've already read the book, don't let it stop you from making your comments (just wait until the 2 week period when we open this thread ;))
To nominate a book to be read next month, please PM Cat-Eyes, Aoife or Kaede with the title, author and reasons why you think it’s appropriate. We shall also consult lists such as ‘Top 50s’ etc, to add a bit of variety to our science fiction/fantasy lovin’ world.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask below :)
And now without further ado: this month's selection:

It's Easter in Reading - a bad time for eggs - and no one can remember the last sunny day. Humpty Dumpty, well-known nursery favourite, large egg, ex-convict and former millionaire philanthropist is found shattered beneath a wall in a shabby area of town. Following the pathologist's careful reconstruction of Humpty's shell, Detective Inspector Jack Spratt and his Sergeant Mary Mary are soon grappling with a sinister plot involving cross-border money laundering, the illegal Bearnaise sauce market, corporate politics and the cut and thrust world of international Chiropody. As Jack and Mary stumble around the streets of Reading in Jack's Lime Green Austin Allegro, the clues pile up, but Jack has his own problems to deal with. And on top of everything else, the Jellyman is coming to town... source: Dymocks.com |
