I just caught up! I had exams and a computer that didn't have sound as my only access to telivision :p
Edit: Also, can I just comment on how hilarious I find the complete coincidence, with all the deliberate doctor who references in Obernewtyn, that Glynn says she's from Riversong in Darkfall, years before River Song enters Doctor Who?
nnnn, I think it's rather likely that the crib was either Sunsan's or her Mum or Dad's as well as The Doctor's. He's always rather tight lipped about his time lord family and very conveniently doesn't answer the question "Have you ever had children?". Even Jenny doesn't get a mention.
Anyway, running away with a 'borrowed' TARDIS sounds more like the work of a young and reckless Doctor than the old one we met in the very first episode, so I imagine that the thievery was a very long time ago even in that Doctor's time line. Could be wrong though, I've forgotten a lot about the originals.
Anyways, that was a HUGE shock. My friends and I had discussed River being the kid in the space suit and the kid in the space suit being Amy's daughter, but thought the two theories were mutually exclusive. Evidently not :p But it does kind of explain what she was doing at the wedding after the universe was rebooted. Doesn't explain how she got back to Apollo time, but I did the math when episode one came out and the kid in the episode would be the right age to be an older River if she lived through human history to that time. And River did say that they all wake up where they're supposed to be.
When she was telling him I thought at first that she was Susan's grandmother, but then he did the whole smoochy thing and I knew that couldn't be it. I do like that that the first time he meets her she's in a space suit, just like in episode one of this series. Also, do you think it's a possibility that it was Lorna's forests that were turned into the books in the library? I can't remember what those forests were called, but I really feel like there's going to more stuff coming out about the library episode. I wonder if they can get her out of the computer. If you can use the soul of a living breathing person to a power a flesh ganger, could you imbue a ganger with the soul of someone stuck in a computer? The whole, meeting in reverse thing is too neat and I don't buy it. He knows when she is, he can probably find a way around it and I bet he will. Tennant might not have bothered beyond shoving her in there, but he didn't really know her.
I really think that River goes to prison for killing Rory. They've done the whole "talk about Rory and make us think its the Doctor" a lot now. And I imagine that River the younger might have a lot of resentment towards her parents. Who knows what she was told growing up? And Amy did try to shoot her.
I also think River must have done something she feels she deserves to be locked up for. She goes back to her cell every time like a good little girl. The Doctor can go through all of time and space, to times and places that have never heard of her, she has no reason to go back. And her relationship with The Doctor is sort of weird, I'm not sure that killing him would do that to her.
Not to mention, it said Melody on her hospital crib. Which means she changed her name, there was no reason for her to go by the forest translation for it.
And it would explain the look she was wearing when she saw Rory. She looked really, really sad. And stunned. Like seeing him cut her wide opened, as if she couldn't believe it and it was the most wonderful, magical thing. I think in that point she might have been a lot younger in that scene and it might have been the first time she'd seen him since she killed him. :-/ She was definitely acting a lot younger.
Not to mention, I can buy River not remembering a lot of her own past but I still don't buy her reactions around and after The Doctor's death not being natural. She seemed way too in the dark to have been in that space suit.
[act]cries[/act] I can't wait months for next episode! :'(

Hello everyone! I'm so excited to find an actual thread totally dedicated to Doctor Who on here!! Finally I can talk and talk about DW and everyone will know what I'm talking about. ;D
I can't believe that there's only going to be specials in 2012. That is abominable. It's bad enough having to wait months and months for Series 6 Part 2 but to have to wait a YEAR just for a full series is... is... I'm sorry, I'm too horrified and overcome with emotion to write anything else. :O
What did everyone think about River Song being Amy's daughter? That was one completely out of left field. I was gobsmacked. I'd mused with my little brother on who River Song is ever since "Silence in the Library", I was firmly convinced she had to be the Doctor's wife. Man was I wrong. Still, it still looks like there was a bit of romance between them... though I don't know for sure.
Edit by Mod: Spoiler tags added :)

Hey SpiritDaywatcher, I was just as gobsmacked as you! There's been a lot of discussion about that in this thread (mostly on page 10), but you might not have seen it because it's all in spoiler tags. Spoiler tags are a function of the forum which hides text from people who don't want to read it so things aren't spoiled for them. They appear as large blocks of dark purple in the middle of a post (eg; my post earlier on this page).
To read what's in a spoiler tag, click just above the spoiler tag and drag down till all the purple is highlighted, this will make the text visible so that you can read it. You can use spoiler tags by clicking on the yellow smily with the big wide eyes below, just type whatever text you want hidden between the tags. :)
Thanks Sian, I hadn't realised that! Do I have to put everything in "spoiler form" on this thread? Or just information on Dr Who episodes?

Hey Spiritdaywatcher!
Sian's given you a very good explanation of spoiler tags, which we use in all threads in the Library. The idea is to spoiler anything that someone who hasn't seen as much as you wouldn't know yet. So, this counts for things that you're just going "Oh my God, [some part] was amazing!" and if you're writing about your own theory based on something you saw eg "I think Spot the dog isn't really a dog, because of that look he gave the man on page 7" (but, less lame :P ). If you mention or reference something that someone won't know unless they've seen an episode (or read a certain page), spoiler it. If in doubt, usually best to put it in tags just in case!
Remember to always put above the spoiler what it's a spoiler for. This counts even if it's a theory of yours, because of course theories are always based on something you've seen! It's usually good to say what episode is it you're discussing, but sometimes we continue theorising on something for long after we saw it, in which case people will say things like "On the girl in the spacesuit" like Sian mentioned. Make sure you don't give anything too much in your heading, say "On what Spot is" rather than "On how Spot is a human" :P
Hope that helps! Feel free to PM me or ask another question here, I'm one of the Library mods :)
Cheers
Cat
Does anyone know exactly when Part 2 of Series 6 is airing? I'm guessing around September, at the beginning of spring, but then again Australia is known for getting episiodes late... ::)
Until it comes to TV I'm going to re-watch Part 1. My library will get it eventually. I find it's very illuminating when I watch a series over again after all the "Big Reveals" and "Shock Horrors"!
It's coming out on the 27th of August in the UK, so I'd imagine it'll air the Saturday after that (the 3rd of September) in Australia but I don't know for sure.
Note: The 27th August UK broadcast date has yet to be confirmed. The only confirmed broadcast for the 27th is from BBC America who will be showing it around 8/9pm.
That said it is a bank-holiday weekend in the UK, and bank holidays and Who go together well...
I believe that Saturday September 3, 7.30pm, is now a confirmed date and time for the Australian broadcast of the second part of season six.
We now have a proper synopsis for the upcomming episode 'Lets Kill Hitler'
In the desperate search for Melody Pond, the TARDIS crash-lands in 1030's Berlin, bringing the Doctor face to face with the greatest war criminal in the Universe. And Hitler
Makes you wonder who the 'greatest war criminal in the universe' could be. I suspect Davros, though SM has siad that he is retiring the Daleks for now.
Ooo, sounds exciting! I cannot wait for September 3rd!
Davros does sound like a very likely candidate for "the greatest war criminal in the universe", so maybe when Moffat said he's retiring the Daleks for a while he didn't mean Davros? They are different species, after all... or maybe it's someone we, as the audience, haven't met yet? Who knows...
I can't wait to find out who the eye-patch woman is, personally. She creeps me out big time.
Doctor Who FTW! :rolling:

Re the synopsis for Let's Kill Hitler
Well Matt Smith's said in a few interviews that there's a new, important monster coming in Let's Kill Hitler so the new monster may be the greatest war criminal.
You are quite right Tonks. I had forgotten about that!
On Another note, the BBC have finally confirmed that season 6 will continue on Saturday 27th August
The 27th? So does that mean Dr Who will air in Oz the following Saturday? [act]cross fingers[/act]
And it is a new monster we haven't met yet! Brilliant! Knowing the writers of Dr Who it will be something crazy awesome! :rolling:
Yeah SpiritDaywatcher, it airs the following Saturday in Aus.

It was great!Â
it reminds me of Hitchhiker's Guide! The oldest question, I mean.Â
But hmm, question hidden in plain sight? Doctor WHO? Is the quest going to be to unearth his real name? Though I don't know why the Silents would care/need that...
I love how they introduced Mel. It should have been obvious it was Melody. It was a completely new addition to Amy's timeline - hence the Doctor's 'why have I never heard of you before' (to that effect). Because I was thinking similar - sort of, what the hell? They can't just introduce a new best friend now? Has this turned into fanfiction? :P
It sounds like Mel was involved with getting Rory and Amy together. That's kinda interesting :P
Also, they left Hitler in the cupboard, didn't they? XD
As for who kills the Doctor by the lake - I think it was confirmed in this episode that River does it. That's why the ...er, little people?... Were after River. Because they said she kills the Doctor at this place/time. Fixed point in time etc.Â
So it might be the child River still? Since child River was still in the 50's...potentially as Mel...
Though - that got me thinking. We see Mel grow up with Amy/Rory. So, she could age? If she went from little girl in the US to little Mel...she must have gone forward in time somehow. Otherwise she'd be more, Amy's grandmother's age, than friend.
What if she was also Amy's aunt? The one Amy lives with? The one we never see, who leaves Amy at home by herself on the night the Doctor arrives to meet her..?The Doctor even asks, why are you home alone, in the same offhand way he asked 'why have I never met you before' of Mel.Â
So there may be a regeneration between the 50's child and Mel? Although if the Silents were watching little Amy they would have surely known River/Melody was there...
Argh, I dunno! I'd forgotten how frustrating all these Who questions were!
