Hey, you still got some done, which is amazing in and of itself :nods:
That's right. 8000 words is a very respectable target.

I won't be writing a single word for another two weeks. All I seem to be doing lately is work!
But I've been writing reports! Joy. I've written approximately 20 pages worth of comments and feedback on writing folio pieces for my ten year 11 students. Also I've got to have approximately 2000 words so far written on reports.
I wish these were actual creative writing words as opposed to report comments... :(
The light at the end of the tunnel is if I work myself hard this week and this weekend and next week, then next weekend when I have Friday off as report writing day, I will actually be enjoying a proper long weekend (that I miss out of for this week!). That is IF I get all my marking done. Another positive at the end of this is 2 weeks for holidays!!!! I just need to hold out for them and get through these next few crappy weeks.
I don't think realistically I can join into these season writing competitions. I would love to still attend the write-ins, and when it's my holidays I want to try to cram in some writing then. Especially the Summer ones. And if I am having lighter weeks at work. :(

Awwww Jossie. You will write creatively when you have a spare minute or two. [act]Grugs[/act]
It's been a few weeks. Marking is done, report writing is done, proof reading entire form groups with about 10 sets of reports is done, and today I finished the first part of my performance development plan.
It's been a hectic, busy, crazy month. BUT, the light at the end of the tunnel that always pulls me through is only here in THREE DAYS! Holidays! I hope to get lots of writing done, even while I am away in Perth (and sadly miss the monthly write-in!).
Huzzah for the holidays--and enjoy your trip to Perth.

Uh... [act]enters with head hung[/act] Sooo... holidays are over and week one just finished of work. With my trip, I kind of lost track of writing time. I might have sat down for 15 minutes to do a bit of a writing exercise (just questions to answer about my main character to see how fully developed she was). But I don't know if that actually counts as words!
I think it's hard for me to want to find time to fit in writing with work being back, getting busy, and then doing preparation and marking on the weekends. But the goal to write daily, to practice at writing and make it a habit again is a strong goal I have. So I am seriously contemplating getting up 30 minutes earlier in the morning to try to set aside time to write since after work seems impossible.
Wrote a little bit of randomness today though. Hurray. Of course I was supposed to start doing some preparation and marking that I HAVE to do this weekend! Procrastination by writing!
Words at write in this month: 1,265
Words today: 970
I'm not going to fully participate in the OberNo challenges for this season.. but I will attempt my own goal of trying to write a little each day of about 300-500 words. See how that goes. It would be lovely to get to the 100k before the end of the year!
That sounds like a good plan, Jossie. You never know where those daily writing sessions will take you. I think you're definitely on target to crack 100,000 words by the end of the year, especially if you add a couple of major write-ins to the mix.
I think you could get through them in just the write ins alone ;) With the extra write ins coming up you'll have it done by the start of September :P
I agree. It sounds eminently doable. And.... WOOOOORRRRDDDDSSSS. No-one posts them any more!!!
Late quick writing session tonight when I am very sleepy. But an idea hit and it's not all the time I have things available for me to jot down the scene - I really need to ensure I have a notebook and make myself do hand writing before the inspiration floats away and I forget!
Tonight's words are 519!
Thanks for the encouragement, guys! Let's revive our writing group!
I have done a little hand writing in my attempt to force myself to write. I'm not sure how many words but probably around 200.
In order to make me write daily, I've opened the content a little. As in journal writing, and random snippets of writing. I won't include my journal writing in the word count, but other bits and pieces shall be included!
Total: 92,127 words (have to work out if I can see do my word progress bar with this new upgrade).
I think the important thing now is getting stuck back into a routine. So great progress so far. I'm sure the actual words will come easier once you really get back into it. :D
I adore our write-ins! Not just the actual writing session (which is always inspiring in the Latrobe Reading Room, and being surrounded by others furiously typing/writing away), but also the discussions afterwards about writing (and of course reading).
Note to self to schedule in an hour of writing before work, since after work is too tiring.
Words today: 2,284 words!
Total for the year: 94,411 words
Ooh, good luck with the getting up early.
And, big ditto about the write-ins. It's always interesting hearing about how everyone else writes (and what they are actually writing about)!
Hey, Jossie - THAT'S a total :). Looks like you weren't just Facebooking the whole time, after all :P.
Congratulations.
Yep, the conversations before and after were good fun.
AHHHHH so this is what happens... instead of doing marking, I ended up doing some writing. While I should celebrate the words, I am also feeling guilty for the lack of marking of analysis essays....
So yeh, the morning thing isn't going well!
Words today: 605
Total: 95,016 words
Sigh. Oh dear. But... yay, words?
All words are good words. At least you're still producing some.

Words are good. I haven't had any words for ages. Really need a plan.
You are doing such a fantastic job with your writing, Jossie! I can't believe how close you are to that amazing target of 100,000 words. Wouldn't it be excellent if you met your target at the next write-in?
I achieved 1,874 words at the MWF write-in! And on my novel which was a bit of backstory and I kind of enjoyed exploring actually!
So that's a total of 96,890 words. There's still technically today and tomorrow left of winter, and though 3,110 words isn't much, I don't think I'll be able to get those words out this weekend when I really have to knuckle down this weekend to finish doing that marking I've still yet to mark
Although, after that Sunday session of Isobelle's and then yesterday's teacher session to provide us with strategies to help students write creatively, I am tempted to try/test out some of these strategies myself - but we shall see. At least I will try to do the important thinking through for planning first!
I was also thinking to share some of the strategies with you guys too since there were some great ideas. I will have to try to contact Isobelle to get some more info on one particular interesting strategy she spoke about but ran out of time for!
Goal for Spring is very small - just to reach my 100,000, though perhaps I should also add 10,000 words to push myself a little since there is a holiday coming up which I should be able to squeeze in as much writing as I can!
Great progress, Jossie! *cheers* Hope you hit that 10k, although life does tend to get in the way, and that's OK. Summer may be your time, if not spring!

Nice work Jossie. Real life can be a pain, but at least you are still in there writing.
I think I'm almost there. At the latest write in:
2506 words
Tonight some inspiration at:
770 words!
Total later but getting to my 100k for the year!!
