I agree to a certain extent, BB
I think it was a little childish at times....but I did still connect with her anger if not her fury....she was still human, and it just shook me that someone who i could relate to....could turn into something not even human anymore. I don't know.

I get what you mean Loren.
I think for me, because I've had issues with family members who struggle to control their anger, rather than really experiencing it myself, I kind of emotionally shut off from the character (as I do with people like that in real life, as a coping mechanism), so....yeah....I get the feeling that that might be why I didn't enjoy this book as much as I could have?
I am on SUMMER BREAK FROM UNI so I've collected a glorious haul from the local library. About to get in to Picture Me Gone by Meg Rosoff.
@loren and @blackbird - clariel is on my tbr pile...
Just started 2am at the Cats Pajamas... It's pretty whimsical but I like it so far. Also listening to A Clockwork Angel (cause people on Instagram and tumblr keep making it seem interesting). Finished We Were Liars today... Did not see that ending coming!
I'm reading The Little Prince...in the original French version. To be honest, my French is absolutely terrible, but I want to be able to pick it up again and it hasn't been too bad. I can understand 70% or so without a dictionary? I have one on my phone though, so I'm getting through it slowly...
Finally finished A Feast for Crows, and now I have to wait until I can get a Dance with Dragons... And then wait like everyone else for the the next book.
Since my last post, I finished Skin Game, which was Dresden going back to the "good old days" in terms of how the plot ran, which was nice... although at 450 pages it may well have been a bit long.
I also read Lexicon by Max Barry, as recommended by Darga, and I strongly echo that recommendation. It is quite different to his other books, which are mostly corporate satire (though I like that as well), and probably a good direction for him to be heading.
Loved The Eyre Affair, and I'm now on to the third book in that series, The Well of Lost Plots.
Lastly, I read the sci-fi novella Outnumbering the Dead by Frederik Pohl, which was a decent book about mortality, even though I found the women in the story, with perhaps one exception, to be poorly characterised and unrealistic.
Still chugging along with The Lord of the Rings and the Raymond Carver short story collection, although I'm not rushing through the latter as it is only 200 pages long.
Goodreads says I have 15 books to go until I hit my target, so I'd better hurry up. (Also, have a list of novellas and/or poetry collections for a last-minute emergency.)
I'm 15 books behind on my Goodreads challenge because it doesn't include re-reads and I've been busy with Uni so now that I'm on Summer Break I'm making up for lost time and reading as much as possible.
Today on the list is Angellfall by Susan Ee which my Tumblr friends tell me is excellent, and hopefully once I finish it either More Than This by Patrick Ness or a re-read of the Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater.
I'm reading the rest of The Pledge Trilogy by Kimberly Derting--so The Essence and The Offering. The first one was nothing amazing as far as YA books go but I enjoyed the class structuring in the book and how they were divided and held in place by languages so I want to see how that pans out now that those structures have been abolished.
Yesterday, I finished a Little Something Different by Sandy Hall which made me laugh out loud several times while reading :) and just now I've finished (I didn't mean to, I was going to put the bookmark in and get a decent nights sleep) Death Spiral, the first Faith Flores Science Mystery by Janie Chodosh which suffered from a bad cover and a blurb that doesn't do it justice (lucky I'm a sucker for the teenage detective - otherwise I would have passed this one by) AND NOW I think I'll watch some QI and hopefully sleep...
I just read These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner which I enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would. I'm not normally a fan of Science-Fiction.
I finished Shadow Puppets yesterday and it was okay, I think I'm getting a little tired of the series.
And now I'm starting The Shade of the Moon by Susan Beth Pfeffer, which is the 2nd sequel of Life as We Knew It. Don't know what to expect, since the series was supposedly a trilogy, and this is the 4th book (the other book is a side-quel). But I really liked the last three, even if they were quite depressing given how much their world had ended and how tough survival was.
Finished reading "Perfume". All I can say is... well... that was a very interesting ride!
I've been trying to reply to this thread for the past couple of days but nothing has appeared so here's hoping this time I won't be sent back to the home page...
If by Perfume you mean the Patrick Suskind novel I love that book.
I am currently reading Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld.
Yep, that's the one! Don't get me wrong, it was very good! It was just.... well.... yeah. Not what you expect.
Reading Beyond The Shadows by Brett Weeks. Good on the re-reads! :)

I've finally gotten back into reading after handing in my thesis at the end of October! It took me a while to realise that I could spend time reading non-uni related books and not feel bad about it...
Anyway, slowly throughout the year I read the first four A Game of Thrones books. I then got about 100 pages into A Dance With Dragons before things went a bit mental with writing my thesis, then I moved house and I'm not 100% sure where the book is. So, when I get back to that I think I'll just start at the beginning again, because I'm pretty sure I'll have no idea who all of the minor characters are anymore.
I haven't seen any of the tv series yet, so I started reading the series having no idea what to expect. My old housemate and I started reading the first book concurrently when we were still living together, and it was great to be able to have someone in the house I could be horrified/outraged/overjoyed with about everything that happened. Now I'm a book and a bit ahead of her, and it's been a lonely road!
The last book I finished was Matthew Reilly's most recent release, The Great Zoo of China. Although it took a more fantastical turn than most of his other books, I still thought it was fantastic. I work at a dinosaur museum, so reading his version of events about how dragons tied in with dinosaurs was pretty amusing.
I'm now reading the second book in The Ancient Future trilogy by Traci Harding having read the first one about a year ago.
Ooh you must find A dance with dragons! I read it not long ago, but now the wait for the next one begins (though we're used to that here)
I just finally read Metro Winds, was fascinating and enjoyable.
Agree with Daniel re Dance with dragons. SO GOOD! And yes, according to fantastic fiction, the Winds of Winter is due to come out in 9999.... we have a bit of a wait i think...
I just got back from...flailing around overseas for a month...and now have time to work through Hugo William's Collected Poems. It's very nice so far. I'm also looking into picking up A Song of Ice and Fire, but I still haven't read The Hobbit or any of the trilogy, to be honest...
I've been spending a lot of time in rural Australia looking after my Grandmother without access to internet so I've done a lot of reading... recent highlights are probably A Darkness Strange & Lovely by Susan Dennard, the Unspoken trilogy by Sarah Rees Brennan and the Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, which I enjoyed a lot more than a thought I would.
I'm just about to start reading Symbiont by Mira Grant, and I'm very excited. I just finished The Ice Dragon by George R R Martin illustrated by Luis Royo, and the illustrations are amazing!
Hm wasn't as good as I hoped, certainly nothing like Newsflesh, but good enough. Now I'm reading The Long Earth by Prachett and Baxter, and loving it!
Reading the Gresha trilogy at the moment by Leigh Bardugo. There is a lot of little cliche things and some inconsistent character stuff that is annoying me (and a lot of annoyingly placed commas that SHOULD NOT be there) but otherwise I'm enjoying it well enough.
waaaaaait THE NEW MIRA GRANT IS OUT? I know what I'm looking for tomorrow when I'm at the shops.
I've just finished the Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes which I loved and I'm about to start reading Prada and Prejudice by Mandy Hubbard. I also read Beautiful Malice recently and it was very disturbing... hence the gravitation towards cheerful books.
Symbiont was out back in November or even October I think... As I said wasn't quite up to my expectations, but still good enough.
