And let us not forget that the Destroyer has been there from the beginning. And other than Elf, Daffyd has been round longer than any other candidate
So has Elii. Not that I think he is the Destroyer, but he was there right at the beginning too. He was one of the first characters that we were introduced to in 'Obernewtyn'.
Matty just seems to have gotten himself to the right place (LOTRQ) at the right time. Plus, he was taken there on a boat that Ariel was on. That means that Ariel was bringing the Destroyer, which fits with him being Hyraka.
Daffyd I think is a candidate mainly because of his quest to find Giliane and his brother. I think it could possably lead him to extreame measures, and he is really desperate to find them.

but isnt that goin a little too far?!?! rosemaund?!?! and wat i ment about hates min is that he is full of hate and anger towards salamander and the whole slavor thing. so if it comes down to ariel and his involvement wit the slave trade i can see it bein daffyd more then matty. matty is curious but i dont think he has the passion - he admires efl too much and would prob do her bidding...but thats just my view. i can see how it could be matty i just dont think it will be. not enough hate (and if u havent noticed thats wat i consider the 'undoing'/underlyin factor.)

The Destroyer is definitely Ariel. No question about it.
Ariel is the H'rayka, it means the same thing.

I wouldn't suggest for a moment that Rosamund is the Destroyer (even if I do dislike her immensely) but she has been in OC for a LONG LONG time
The Destroyer is either Matty or Ariel (Unless you like the Destroyer = Elf's equal theory, therefore it's Dameon, theory. And that just breaks my heart!)

daffyd is the destroyer because he's ben there from teh begining, always popping up at the reit spot at the rite time, and is doing/in places you wouldnt have first picked. always a surprise that one. now he is full of hate and anger cos of gilliane (sp?) which if ariel is part of hte slave trade will prob get but on him or salamander...now ask yvette for more of a thoery. but thats just how i feel.
lol...I've got something to say to everyone's posts but instead of quoting you all I'm going to try remember what I wanted to say...
Kayt: I don't know if IC's ever said the Destroyer has been there from the beginning...I think we all just came up with that because it'd make more sense for the Destroyer to be a canon character rather than some nameless faceless person we've never heard of...my reasoning behind Matthew partially lies in the fact that I think Dameon is the Kasanda blood as well. That way, all three HUMAN major players in the Quest were drawn together from the start. Just like people of fate are often drawn together...
Megana: Yeah, Daffyd could act irrationally in the end...but I don't think his hate for slavery is anything compared to Matthew's hate of Ariel. Matthew's even quoted saying something along the lines of if he ever saw Ariel again, he'd kill him. And if Matthew found out Ariel planned to use someone to unlock the weaponmachines (namely, Elf - or maybe even Dragon!! there's a thought!) then he would try sacrifice himself for them. He's a romantic at heart, and loves to play hero...(just like Harry lol).
Miska: Matthew does admire Elf - to the point of loving her like a sister, right - and wouldn't ever intentionally hurt her. But IC said the Destroyer isn't evil, and doesn't know what they're going to do...I think that whoever it is (Daf or Mat) will just be in the right (or WRONG?) place when it happens...

Elspeth and Dragon go to LotRQ. Dragon captured by Ariel. Ariel thinks she's the Destroyer he's been searching for, or uses her as leverage against Elspeth. Matthew runs onto the scene and attempts to save Elspeth / Dragon, with the same heroism he used when he decided he had to be taken by the slavers...then what happens...gotta stop now, I'm getting chills just thinking about it!!

Ummm what if Matty is the desttroyer but elf as the seeker has to kill ariel the dude who controles Matty and then pursued Mattty not to go through with it. That is siplistic terms.
