yeah, im the same, i cant stand books like that (especially when its because the love interest dies)......and i agree that Wind would be perfect ;D
I was just rereading the books (for the ?? th time) and discovered that they actually tell us which sister fills which role much earlier than I thought.
Way back in about the middle of Darkfall, one of Glynn's first darklin visions shows her looking through a set of scrolls while someone else tells that they had been hidden from all eyes but those of the Soulsaver. Admittedly it is a darklin and could be wrong, but taken with how much Ember seems to be the Unraveller it is added confirmation. I was just surprised that I had never really noticed the section before. (And now I am trying to work out who the male voice belongs to...)
OOh I totally missed that part!! OMG!!
[act]Toddles of to read them again[/act]
Okay I read that part today and your totally right!!!
I reckon the male voice is Argon as well, being the only man who has travelled to Darkfall and Im completly assuming its there. Lol
Although it also states that she doesnt know whos voice it is hmmm....
Okay i agree that Ember is the Unraveller and that Glynn is the Soulsaver but i think that perhaps Glynn will have to save Embers soul and/or Ronaals if the chaos spirit doesnt keep to his bargain with lanalor.
I think that maybe the abilities she has gained from the Feinna will help her ro save Ember's soul when no one else can (if Ember survives). I dont think Signe was ever going to heal Ember or that she is even a gifted healer. Ember has been assuming that shes being sent to Signe to be healed but Alene only ever said that she needed to go see Singne for help- i dont think she actually uses the word "heal" at all but implies it so that Ember will go unquestioningly to fulfill her duty as Unraveller.
Also this is going back a bit further in the thread and also a little off-topic but there was a discussion going on about the chaos spirit coming back in physical form if the unraveller does not succeed and that he would use Lanalors human body to do so. Ronall mentions that a part of his soul who was once Lanalor lives on in the body lying dormant in the nexus of that hospital. And when the nurse is thinking about the man in the coma who looks like a prince, he thinks about how no one knows how long that patient has been there for and he imagines that the hospital was built around the man for him who was there first. I think that if the chaos spirit comes back he will inhabit the body of that nameless man in the coma as i beleive that he is what remains of Lanalors physical form because Lanalor kept a part of his soul there to keep the flesh alive and made the nexus a safe place for it.
Ooh just a thought- what if Ember as the unraveller DOES fail and the chaos spirit DOES take over that mans physical body which is in OUR WORLD? THEN Glynn, as the Soulsaver, may have to travel back to OUR world to save the soul of Lanalor that the Chaos spirit took..? Perhaps that is her true role as Soulsaver?
Actually maybe all Ember needed to Unravel was what Glynn has to do as Soulsaver which is to come back to our world and stop the chaos spirit in a physical form? So it doesnt matter that Ember is dying because all she needed to do was figure it out? Or perhaps Embers death is what is necessary as it will spur Glynn on to fulfill her role as Soulsaver
Plausable theory???
That is a really well thought out theory and a lot better then what I would have come up with!!
I think it sounds plausable... but I dont want her to leave Keltor she suits it too well.
Also the many many (many) references of Keltor and the Unraveller's world becoming more intwined and connected might suggest this very theory... hmmm

Just a quick thought (even though this thread is very old and dusty!):
Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but on re-reading the end of Darkfall today when the mother feinna dies and Glynn (and Solen) save the youngling-the description of Glynn's actions literally point to her having saved its soul, stopping its soul spar/life flame from leaving/being extinguished. Meaning that despite the fact that the feinna and Glynn shared an unusual connection, we do certainly know that she has the ability to save souls. And that as she is linked to Solen in a similar if lesser manner, we can also assume she may be able to use that same ability to save Solen's soul should the need arise.
Edit: Also came across the quote on page 3 of Darksong regarding the fact that Glynn was born slightly after Ember and was completely unexpected, reinforcing the notion that she is the important one and is being screened/protected by the focus being on Ember/the Unraveller.
Gah, each time I read The Legendsong I realise that although Obernewtyn is special, the Legendsong is like nothing else in fiction and is just on a different level IMHO. The fact that Isobelle has had Darkbane *completed* (if only in draft form) for over ten years just drives me insane in a way that the wait for the end of Obernewtyn never has...

[act]Brushes dust out of thread.[/act] That's a good point Alexis. I've never looked at it that way before.
