I like Wentworth too actually, in fact I might steal that for myself :P (Made a list of primary characters the other day and discovered that 48 of them don't have names yet 8-| Whoops)
Have some random E names 'cause I'm liking me some E names right now:
Eldred
Emlyn (almost the same as Emyrs) :P
Euan
Eitan

ok, so I have three. It's either:
Lord Emrys
Lord Tullan
Lord Darrah
which do you like best?
I like them in the order you have them :P Emrys for number one and so on and on :P
I agree, Emrys is a cool name. I might borrow that one for one of my characters, too... but a girl. She's been irritatingly picky about settling on a name.

I like Emrys as well but I also like Tullan.
I really like all 3 of the names, but Tullan is probably my favorite. Whichever you choose, it's going to be a really good name.
how do you pronounce Emrys?

hooray for lord Emrys!
EDIT: I now need a name for a country. It's a democracy and I want t to be known as "the republic of...." something/..... thoughts? I wanted it to sound a little exotic but by no means hard to pronounce or over the top. just something that is strong and believable.
Name for my land? anyone....? I now need two lands. One is the place the main characters live. it is a monarchy but the monarchy is failing and an underground society known as the Kin are just secretly running everything. the other is the country next door. its a republic democracy. Its foreign to them and seemingly a better place to live BUT to have rights there you have to be considered a citizen and thus be a legitimate, registered child of two citizens. any thoughts on good names?
What are some of the names of your characters . . . to give an idea of just how exotic/type of exoticness you want??
Well my main character is named Odessa. Her brother is Cade and her sister is jemima. They are family with Omarm and Imogen. Other characters include Lark, Nathaniel, Sara, Victor, Amon and patrick. They live in the momarchy with the corrupt mafia. I want the other county to be a bit more exotic. they have darker, more olive skin. and since there democracy is in the tradition of early Athens I am thinking maybe they are a bit greecian, but with slightly darker skin.

Look up some old Greek names on a database maybe. or evensome Celtic ones. That should give you an idea
Maghera loosely translates to a plain.
When I was little my parents wanted to name a piece of land they bought Drumnasrane (which ended up withouth a name) and it comes from a word meaning "land between two hills."
I like the name Maghera. :) It sounds exotic, but not hard to pronounce.
Here are some suggestions for other names -
Adamine, Mahindra, Adelland (which means 'noble land'), Lambert ('great country'), or Tyrina ('land of the noble').
Hope that's helped. :)

Ok, I need help with another name. :P
I'm trying to think of a name for two twins. They appear 5 years old (but in fact, they've actually lived for much longer than that. They're the oldest of anyone in my story. No, they're not vampires or supernatural creatures or anything. :P It's just - complicated. :P ).
Anyway, it's a boy and a girl.
They're both unbelievably cute/doll-like - but in a creepy way. They have glossy black hair. The girl's hair just brushes her shoulders, and she has a straight fringe. The boy's hair flops down to partly cover his eyes. They both have identical large navy-blue eyes, pale skin, little rose-bud lips, etc. They have a tendency to walk around the place silently, always holding each other's hands and staring wide-eyed at things.
Everyone else in the world (this is set in a dream-like sort of Carnival. It's not meant to be realistic) is afraid of them. They possess strange powers, but no one knows the extent of them.
They each wear frilly doll-like clothing. (I think the girl wears a white dress and the boy wears black, but I haven't decided yet). They look almost identical. They always carry around stuffed toys. The girl has a creepy toy bunny that's missing an eye and only has patches of fur, and its mouth is twisted into a grimace. She always clutches it to her chest. The boy always drags an old teddy-bear along the floor after him.
They have a psychic link, so they almost never talk to anyone other than each other. If they do speak, they say strange cryptic things, and they refer to themselves as 'we' when they mean 'I', as though they're they same person rather than two separate people.
For example, if someone asked - "What's you name?" they would either reply in sink, or one of them would say - "We are called _____." And then the other one would say "We are called _______."
Anyway, in this place, names are very symbolic. They're not usualy names - normally its the name of an object or something natural that the person has something in common with. For example, some of the names are - Ghost, Willow, Velvet, Scar, Shadow, River, etc.
Anyway, I've got a few different options for names for these two.
Either the boy could be called Storm and the girl Cloud, or the boy would be Moonlight and the girl Daylight, or the boy Night and the girl Day.
What do you think? Or if you have any other suggestions, I'd be more than happy to hear them. :)

I likestorm cloud as that makes them two parts of a single whole rather than opposites.
I think having opposite names makes them seem like different entities, but the way you've described them, it's almost as if their cut out of the same block of wood. Maybe you could name them Lightening and Thunder, since they're two aspects of the same thing? (or does that sound ridiculous :P ) I reckon those names sound more menacing (as you said they're meant to be powerful and creepy). on the other hand, lightening and thunder don't really sound like names for people...
Out of the names you've suggested, I like storm cloud too
Thanks guys, that's really helful. :)
I think I'll call them Storm Cloud for now. I can always change it later if i think of something else. :)
if you want opposites I like dusk and dawn. you could go fro shadow fro the girl and hue for the boy of you want them similar though... storm cloud is good too.
Those are cool names too. :D I think it would be better if they had similar names, though. But I might use those for other characters.
with storm cloud - its good but it if you say storm and cloud its sounds like one is angry - storm and the other is soft and calm. but hey thats just me
but what if you had something meaning the same thing?
like
danger and menace or peril - hey i like that menace and peril
what about this sccared and marred it rhymes and means hurt there is also warped and disfigered
i also like vexation and antagonism maybe enmity
theres just a few for you
i have a question my self
how would you pronouce Alethea?
