What's this? You think my character's a girl?! Urm, I mean, yes, you're 100% correct. I didn't realise until you guys said so that I hadn't established her gender. I knew she was, but I'm not sure what tipped you guys off.
I think by going back into memories the wryness was lost a bit. But I think that's because she became wry after the event(s) in her past. So, I'll be back to writing her as wry soon enough, which I'm looking forward to after 1470 words without it.
Principal Lyvlee was waiting for me, because when I raised my hand to knock he opened the door wide and beckoned me in. He wore a large smile, which faltered as he took in my wet hair.
“Miss Kinth,†he began when we were seated, “Are you all right?â€
“Quite. Why do you ask? Have I done something to concern someone?†My brow wrinkled in thought.
“No, no, it’s just that your hair’s wet.â€
“Oh, that! That’s nothing. I was just enjoying the rain inside the classroom.†I smiled sweetly at him, and he froze for a moment, a dazed look on his face.
“Raining? In the classroom? Did you report the leak?†he asked when his eyes refocused.
“Report the leak?†I laughed at his misunderstanding. “There’s no leak. My head was out the window.â€
“Out the window?†he shook his head, used to students’ oddities, “Never mind. I’m sure you’re wondering why I’ve called you here?â€
Is Miss Kinth the same girl as in your last snippet, or is this a different story? I like her, either way. She's so blase: 'My head was out the window.' - duh, of course I'm wet! And the principal has clearly got no idea how to respond: 'Um, yeah, sure, I'll just ignore that.' I'm very curious to learn more about her; work out why she is so apparently respected despite what I can see are some very odd character traits. Post more when you can!

Yes, same girl. She's got me hooked into writing her.
I think I'll go post the rest of what I've written in Prodders now :)

And I've reached my target at last! But I'll definitely keep on writing this story, Miss Kinth is addictive. Final snippet for here:
Jenny came down the corridor as I was opening my locker and her eyes widened at my appearance. “Well, your skirt’s now wet.â€
I glanced down and laughed. “So it is.†I pre-empted her question, “Lyvlee had heard a rumour my habit of sticking my head out in the rain and was curious to see if it were true. You should have seen his face! He had no idea what to do with me.†Jenny laughed with me.
“I forgot my water, but I really just wanted an excuse to see where you’d gotten to. Outside from the looks of you.â€
“Hmm, I just felt the need to go take a cold, fresh shower.†I winked at her. “But I’m thinking I should go take a hot one and change before one of the boys see me. Can you imagine their reaction?â€
We giggled together and I pictured Dean fainting on the spot. “I’ll meet you in the gym when I’m done.â€
What are these girls up to? They are sounding very cheeky to me :P And congrats on reaching your goal :D
Yay, Arwen! Good work, and perfect timing! :)
I agree with Shink on the "wow, what are they up to...?" bit. I find her habit of walking about in the rain quite entertaining and kind of weird [act]remembers she does the same thing[/act]... never mind... I love the way you're writing thins. It's very fun to read.

In context they're really not all that cheeky, and they're not up to anything at all |:|

This summer I'm going to aim for 5 000 words again. I'm currently typing up what I hadn't gotten to from Winter in the Miss Kinth story (which actually has a potential title now), so I'll probably continue with that this season, as well as some Arthurian stuff :)
YAY. Good luck, Arwen. :)
Yes! More Arthur!!!! Your Arthurian writing is excellent and I would love love lovelove to read more!
(though I guess you can work on that other project too...)
Oh, I've enjoyed the Miss Kinth snippets you've posted so far, so I'm exciting! And I'm not averse to the odd Arthurian story, either, particularly yours! Good luck :)

This summer is awesome for writing (so far) as I've written some words almost everyday, and have now almost reached the halfway mark to my goal. Mordred and Morgaine are addictive :D
An Arthurian snippet from yesterday:
In the candlelight the little hut Morgaine and Mordred called home seemed smaller than normal, as the shadows were deeper, more defined. Like they’re closing in, Mordred thought as Morgaine smoothed the covers over him, smiling sweetly.
“Do you want a story tonight?†She asked as she did every night. And as with every night prior, his response was to nod his head eagerly. He loved her stories, and never tired of hearing the same ones. Tonight though, he wanted to ask some questions. Seeing the eagerness in his eyes, the way his little teeth tugged at his bottom lip, Morgaine felt a pang in her heart. He was so like him. “What story do you want to hear tonight? Another one about Lancelot?â€
Mordred shook his head. “Not Lancelot tonight. Guinevere.†Morgaine’s face darkened at the mention of the queen’s name, and she had to force herself to smile and unclench her fist.

This year I've been doing a lot of writing, so since I've already reached three times my goal, I'll aim to reach 20 000 this summer. I have become addicted to writing again :D
The best kind of addiction :D

So my goal for this winter is 5000 words. I'll update the first post as usual with my count.
I did say I wasn't going to start for about two weeks, but I ended up procrastinating from watching tv, and got 410 words done so far :)
Haha, procrastinating from watch tv, eh? Good work though :D

I'd love to be able to procrastinate FROM something else to write. How do you do it? :P
I have to admit i do that when I'm supposed to be writing essays :). My editing goes much faster on those days :P.

I don't know how I do it. This time I'm procrastinating from watching the early seasons of NCIS again. Something in it made me a little sad and I don't want to get sadder yet. So then I started reading a YA fiction and suddenly had the urge to find out how Maddi was doing. My fingers haven't stopped itching to write more since.
And it probably helps that I have exams at the end of this month that I need to make notes for.
I think the short of it is that I get bored of what other people have done.
Okay, so word count update:
Yesterday I wrote 635 words and so far today I have 439 :)
So I currently have about 1500/5000 words :D
good work :D. So for you, the motivation to write is for everyone else in Prodders to post their stuff. You'll get so bored with all the new words you'll just go write your own :P.
Heheh, I'd be lying if I said that having essays and exams didn't make writing suddenly a whole lot easier to do :P But great work anyway, Arwen. :D
Good work on the word count, Arwen :) The only thing I procrastinate with writing is school work :P I wish I could become easily bored from watching TV.

I sort of neglected to write for about a month, so I was frantically writing to make my count today. But I succeeded and I'm currently quite happy about a scene I had never intended to write. Yay for characters giving you surprises! :D
