[act]Dusts off thread[/act]
I believe what I'm about to post has been discussed before, but I cannot for the life of me locate the thread :(
A moment ago, I was looking up the meaning of water in my new Dream Dictionary, specifically the sea and or a river to the sea. When I came across the reference for sea/ocean, it immediately made me think of the Legendsong books.
Here is the books interpretation of sea/ocean in dreams:
-Very often represent Cosmic Consciousness- that is, the original chaotic state from which all life emerges. Inherent in that state is all knowledge- i.e completeness- although that may be obscured by our fear of deep emotion; we do not fear that which we understand.
In the thread I was searching for, someone (or several people) had proposed the idea that unconsciousness was linking the sisters with Keltor, just as it was linking Lanalor/Ronaal. We already know Keltor is referred to as a dream of 'our world', so that is nothing new to the theories. My interest came from the idea of the Sea/Ocean (in this case the Agean and the sea on Keltor) as both a physical element and a metaphorical element of the story (much like the mind stream in the OC's).
Looking at the story with that in mind, I'd be interested to do a re-read and note any reference to the sea that might indicate something other than what appears to be on the surface.
But then again, this could just be my cold talking :P
