Ah, K Rudd management style. :nods:
SO, relations have calmed down in my head, and hopefully will improve dramatically now that a work-related near crisis has been averted. Let's see if I can convert some notes into story form!
I noticed you managed to get some words together for a short story, but how goes progress here, Nef?
A long weekend later ... and I have a grand total of NOTHING!!!! Well done me!
Congratulations on your epic achievement. At least you can't get much worse than nothing.
.... and so far I have come to the grand total of 0 words (unless my resume and awesome selection criteria count as fiction ...)
O_O It's not over yet! (Is it?) You can still get down maybe a word or two? :P
I've just been busy with other stuff - although my last post just spawned an idea for a story, which I jotted down.
On a related note, Question: what would be a good post-apocalyptic government job?
Hmm, I think that would depend on the kind of post-apocalyptic event. Different things would need to be done for different types of apocalypses. Generally though, anything related to control of food and water, even housing, I guess.
Coordinating the medical efforts that will need to be dealt out to the survivors?
so far, this is the jottings that I have:
1. Ability to communicate appropriately at different levels. Demonstrate ability to interact with different stakeholders in the community.
I possess strong communication skills and am able to
I have, from a young age, been exposed to a broad range of groups within the community. I passed my formative years in the
I am able to converse fluently in many of the 16 strayn dialects spoken in Nusinny (except for Murylins as I have not yet been able to locate a speaker who will teach me the dialect rather than attempt to gnaw at some body part still attached to me) and I am relatively comfortable communicating with members of many of these language groups.
At the estimated age of 10, I entered into the utslib school as an apprentice. I was fortunate to receive a full education a the school, gaining a ‘completed’ certificate four months before the school was overrun by the Glebs and destroyed. In that school I was taught to read and write, including the skill of spelling, and am able to decipher and translate a significant portion of the written texts on display, depending on the corresponding skill of the writer. With my ability to understand the spoken dialects of the residents of Nusinny, I gain an understanding of the text by reading the text out loud and determining the dialect by the phonetic markers contained therein. I am confident that I would be able to apply and further develop this skill in the course of employment with your department.
I communicate with different elements of the community on a day-to-day basis.
2. Demonstrate effective negotiation skills, show an outcome-based approach.
I believe that I have a strong claim in negotiating.
I am currently still alive, which given my lack of parents and other
3. Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of, the technology and processes of the central authority. Demonstrate general aptitude for technology.
I do not currently have knowledge of the Central Authority’s technology, as I am aware that illegal acquisition of this technology is an offence punishable by death.
4. Demonstrated personal integrity and display knowledge and acceptance of the Central Authority’s code of conduct.
5. Understanding of the area in which the employment is located.
For a moment, I thought you were about to unleash an apocalypse, and that the job application was one you were writing in preparation for the aftermath of that unfortunate event :P
Your usual sarcastic humour is already nicely entrenched even in these few lines. I hope you develop this further, Nef :)
ooooohhhh .... that's a thought ...

Some _might_ say that destroying the world to overcome problems with one's current employer is just a tad extreme :P.... (Not me though!)
Ah, yes, I also love how blunt and straight forward your tone is. I have to admit I had the same impression about what the job application was for but it's got a more dystopic society feel about it. Either way, looking like a good idea.
I just finished writing selection criteria for what is essentially a secretarial role (albeit for a judge). It struck me again how useless the whole process was, and so I'm writing selection criteria for some unknown government job in a time of chaos. Because along with death and taxes, another certainty in life is HR.
so I have handwritten stuff, but have just been too lazy to type it up. I need a secretary.
Selection criteria coming along nicely ...
Handwritten still counts as words :P
Unless I lose the paper. Which tends to happen with me - I don't have a well ordered hand-written story system ...
Yes, but you still wrote it. It's a big step from writing it down in your brain :nods: It exists physically now--even if you might not ever remember where it ended up.
OOOOH - time to dig that old selection criteria story out ...
Yay! Looking forward to reading more.
Excellent, get to it, Nef!
When I have the energy - work is killing me right now ... bring on shutdown!
