That's a good question, I never thought of that. I guess it depends on how open Swallow is being with her - he's certainly not telling Elspeth much! I always did consider Iriny to be a possibility for going to Sador with Elspeth, though. I think it's because when Elspeth's certain of something, I tend to doubt it, and when she dismisses something, I tend to think it's important. Does anyone else have that reaction?...I wonder how much Iriny knows of the ancient promises?

I'm very intrigued by those vague map allusions. Unfortunately I can't work out what you'd be referring to! ??? My best guess is that there's a map of the dreamtrails, but I'm not sure if that's even remotely on the right track... Either way, I can't wait to see the new map! I wish they'd had the new maps as well as the covers at the Con I went to last year.Hopefully without giving too much away re the map, I'll say that we see more clearly what we already thought was there...and...roads. Of a sort.

That was my first thought too, but then I decided I was being overly hopeful, so I thought maybe it was the houses of rebels, etc. :roll:My first thought was "The house where Kasanda's son was born?!"

Yes, I think you could be onto something there - I can certainly imagine that tactic working! ;D Still, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has that reaction...*raises hand* Yes! Elspeth deciding on something is basically confirmation that it's false, in my eyes. I suspect this is actually a tactic on the author's part, to make the occasional truth Elspeth stumbles across get lost in all her misconceptions. :P

Haha, yeah, I agree. She certainly doesn't come across as being very smart, despite claims to the contrary! I guess the fact that she keeps forgetting her dreams really doesn't help... All the same, it annoyed me how long it took her to make the Cassy/first D'rekta/Kasanda connection (among other things!).I wish that one of her decisions would stick though - it would make a change. I thought she was meant to be marginally intelligent.

from Fian's translation - "Who would enter the sentinel will seek the words in the house where my son was born"), but I'm not sure that would work...Still, exciting!
"Who would enter the sentinel will seek the words in the house where my son was born".I always thought it meant that if you want to enter the Sentinel, you need to find those words first. Maybe the words in the house are the words of the ancient promises (which she needs to say to Swallow), or maybe they're a password or something which Elf needs to use in order to enter the sentinel... Or they could be something else altogether!

I'm not quite up to that bit yet and really you'd think I'd know it off by heart by now. o_O

First the building, tehn the computer and then the program.
