Ah thanks for that, Deb. I haven't really checked over my new stuff yet. I find I can't pick up errors unless I've left it for a good month or two after I've written something D:
I've done roughly 6,500 words. Not as much as I would hope but since I've had exams not too bad I guess.
[ligne][/ligne]DEELETED
Tell self that it's time to start rewriting the revisions I've made--start writing another story instead. Yep. Yep. Yep.
Someone kick me please.

*kick*
(and incidentally, I love your previous snippet - Frederick continues to be completely ineffectual.)
There is so much detail in this story of yours. You definitely need to do more rewriting, then give me a link to the whole thing so I can start keeping your characters in my head! This story is too fascinating to just read snippets of - need the entirety!!
I don't think you're kicing hard enough.
And I think you have confused detail with nonsense. I could probably give the first three chapters already, though. Still haven't edited them properly but they don't resemble a half finished jig saw puzzle like the rest of it does at the minute :P
Anyway, I've noticed that everyone posts their snippets in prodders now. I don't feel like posting any snippets but I'm convinced this is a move to get everyone to join prodders or something so I'll just begin chanting instead: ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
[act]Increases force of kick by several Newtons[/act]. Better?
No, I'm fairly sure I meant detail, not nonsense. Don't forget, I'm the mistress of Drivel - I know nonsense when I read it, let me tell you :P. And if those three chapters are indeed available for reading, I'm here! [act]waves hand, panting pathetically at the thought of more detail to read[/act]
The move to Prodders - yes, those of us that post there are clearly destined to take over the world. Or become best-selling millionaire authors (we need to hide in Prodders to fend of the hordes of screeching fan-people that are clawing at the internet, fighting to steal our words...). Or something...
I just quickly looked over the first three chapters. I was going to just edit them but then I realised there was too much left to do still so I got distracted again :P They are quite a bit disjointed after all but I'll put a link up in prodders anyway. It's mostly readable but I still need to do a lot of reshuffling and expanding and subtracting. I SUCK SO MUCH AT EXPLAINING and the start needs to much explaining. Boo Hoo trying to make book shorter is hard.
Anyway, I guess any sort of move to Prodders is a good thing . . . usually that place just sits there collecting dust! When I first got access to the place I don't think ay one had posted in it for nearly a year.
It just needed a bit of Darga Drivel to get things rolling again in Prodders, that's what I reckon. Kind of like spoiled food... My writing gets things moving... Probably not in a good way :P.
Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that books are for waffling. I'll go read your three chapters soon! Thanks for the link.
I've totally hit the wall when it comes to writing. I think it's partly due to the fact that I've been under a lot of stress lately, but everything I've been writing has been either completely depressing or just completely horrible. Im also doubting decisions I've made concerning editing. Woe woe
I don't know why I'm posting this?
Oh well, accept my mini rant in exchange for words?
What editing decisions have you doubted? It is so hard knowing what to cut and stuff- if you are really stuck maybe you could send it to a manuscript assesser at one of the writer's centres? I found that having an author look over my ms really helped me figure out my story. I know it's expensive but they could give you the direction you need maybe?
And any writing is better than no writing, so good job!
Rant accepted! Don't beat yourself up, Sionainn. The words will come when they are ready. I hope your life returns to a state suitable for writing shortly.
And come back to your editing decisions a bit later. I think you wrote once that you can never edit your work until a bit of time has passed, and I'm much the same. I bet the same is true for editing. Give it a few weeks; then things might be clearer!
Good luck!!
Dweo (I'm just gonna call you Dweo cause it sounds cool, please don't bite me) -- I'm actually a member of the writers centre here so I get everything cheaper so it's not a matter of cost but that's not the type of editing I'm looking at for the moment anyway (it's got a long way to go yet). I'm just more undecided on length more than anything. I decided about six month ago that I wanted the novel to be around the 80-100K mark (the first draft was 200,000 words) and it's currently at about 135K but I feel that some parts of it are much too rushed. So now I'm thinking I'm going to have to lengthen it again so it sits around the 150K mark. But that just seems to long and wah cry cry cry etc. lol
And, I'm actually on a time limit for this novel at the moment, Darga. It's needs to be done by the start of October. I've already put it off for a good four years so I entered a progream that required me to have it done by then, so I couldn't make anymore excuses XD This stuff has been set aside for quite long enough methinks.
Thanks for the advice though guys. I'll just have to keep powerhousing through it.

Oh interesting! What program, Sionainn?
Just a Hotkey one. Gives the opportunity to get a novel assessed and edited if you get through. I don't expect to get through but I thought I'd simply apply as incentive to get my butt moving. It's sort of worked. I'm somewhat more organised with my drafts at least, that's got to count for something :P
Anyway, I'm going to post something in Prodder's and pretend like I've been super productive.
Hmm, maybe. I got the paperwork and stuff for it through the Writer's centre so I'm not actually sure XD

I wouldn't say I was stuck as such. Just undecided on whether I should be reducing the word length anymore or not. At this stage Im not interested in an assessment because I know there is so much more I can do for it and honestly I don't see this as something publishable anyway. Im writing it because it's been in my head for nearly a decade now and because it is fun and I love the characters.
And I abhore adhering to word counts! I've yet to write a short story in my life :P (well I can but if I don't have to Im going to make the plot as convoluted and complicated as I can so the book is at least the size of a very good paper weight)
So today I wrote the first chapter for the third book, then got bored and wrote a scene in the fourth and seventh books. After that I ate a sandwich and considered editing like I was meant to be doing but decided to go to my friends place instead. We ate some more sandwiches. I'm still calling today (well yesterday now) productive!
I'll work out my word count whenever I get around to typing everything up.
In order for us to determine whether we agree about your definition of a productive day, you really need to tell us [strike]what was in those sandwiches[/strike] what your first chapter was about. And maybe [strike]invite us round next time there are more sandwiches[/strike] post a snippet or two once you type things up.
(me food motivated? NEVER!)
Enough facetiousness - good job getting words down!
I'm sorry, I can't post snippets today because I am much too preoccupied with killing main characters. [act]steeples fingers and starts giggling manically[/act]
Also the sandwiches were of 'the lot' variety.
What have I told you about sadism, Shonk?? Why... to participate fully in it wherever possible! Yeeha! Death to main characters!
Goodbye Frederick?
As much as I would like to kill Frederick, he is kind of the protagonist so it would be somewhat difficult to write the story without him I'm afraid. <_< I have to settle with offing all his close friends and family instead [act]sigh[/act]
Hmmm. That may not have much of an impact on him. The boy IS rather vague. He may not notice :P.

I'm sure he will notice if I wave dismembered limbs in front of him or something. Anything that may also result with his own demise is generally something he tends to take notice of. If anything his friends should emulate his behaviour more since he is somewhat more better at surviving then they are.
EDIT: I'm now editing things other than this post! Hurray, productivity. Who knew killing people could be so inspiring.
I knew! Why do you think I've been so productive lately?
Um, did I say that out loud? :P
