From what i've heard on FB, the Sending isn't the last last book any more, but it should be out in September this year, publisher willing... Also, from FB, Isobelle has finished the manuscript for it and sent it in :D *squee* so excited!!
Also, my two bobs worth about the Salamander... i don't think it is Jakoby's sister but i do think she travels with him...
I agree, in TSK when they search Ariel's house, they find that room that have the lavish objects belonging to a woman.
And then Jakoby tells Elspeth that her sister loved precious objects. In my mind it just all ties in with the theory of Salamander being connected to the Sadorians and whatnot.
I definitly agree that Seresh is somehow connected to Salamander (possibly even her) and Ariel.
Just a random theory and it may have already been said (i haven't read anything in this thread. there is so much!) but i think Elspeth will meet Matthew and Rushton again in the Red Land. I mean they have to go there eventually because of Dragon, right? Plus, throughout the whole series the point that all future tellings can be altered by a persons actions and that future tellings were only the most likely possibility in any situation has been stressed. I am possitive that Matthew will come back into the picture anyway and i hope that Rushton wll be their too.
Just a note to all you people who think Dameon has evil motives - possibly the Destroyer, ect - i hate you all, i mean i love you, but i hate the thought of Dameon being like that. Just thought i would add that. I think Ariel is the Destroyer, and i know it is obvious, but he has been coming in dreams and on the Dreamtrails telling Elf that she had something that he wanted and talking about how they were enemys and that kind of thing. I don't know if this post makes much sense, but you know.
Vestie - I agree. I am determinedly here deciding Ariel is The Destroyer (not Dameon, not Matthew. Or I will cry and cry and cry). Admittedly I am terrible at theories but I can see Ariel being The Destroyer and wanting to be so (he has the kind of brain that might well destroy the world just because he can and not care about death at all because it's the ultimate way of causing torment, really).
(Though I could see The Destroyer also being unwittingly so. Which is extra horrifying because imagine being driven towards ending the world without knowing it)

I am a little blown away by the thought that Ariel may not be the destroyer, I just assumed he would be.
Can someone please tell me how to do spoiler alerts???
Do you see the Quick Reply box? Right below it is a face, not the smiley face button but the face with the boog eyes. When you click on it, it should produce home html coding that looks almost like this. [spoiler] You type the information you want to be a spoiler in between the coding like this[spoiler]
Random theory on the location of the red land.. Not sure if we should still put in spoiler tags but here goes ! Not sure if anyone else has already mentioned this and I could be way way off but from the descriptions of where the red land is in the books I can't help but think that maybe it's close to Pellamar (where Elspeth is atm). The map in the Sending (not including anything further north than the white desert and the Graag) suggests to me that maybe the Red Land is actually on the same land mass (or is somehow connected to) 'The Land'. The sea route to the red queens land follows the west coast until the spit but does it ever actually say in the books that the Red Land is another island (I can't remember). The white desert surrounding the Graag and the white city seem to fit with the same type of conditions/climate of the red land and if Elspeth was needing to go there how awesome would it be if she didn't have to jump on a ship.. The fact that she passes through the Wolf Vale and the valley of the Skylake etc (which no one else knew existed) seems to emphasise how little they know about the land (Ahmedri taking a break from brewing tea to scribe a map saying how incorrect the Sadorians maps were), like maybe the ships will get to the spit and then head east and end up on the north end of tht land but not even know it'd the same landmass because of the clouded sea or something.. The more I think about it the more I like the idea (Elspeth assuming she is travelling to the Red Land by ship and then realising she's not..) but I DEFINITELY could be wrong and am happy to be set straight :-) I just did a complete chonicles re-read for like the 5th time and don't know how I will survive until I have 'The Red Queen' in my hand!
Okay i have a theory on who is the Destroyer and who Salamander is also. I dont know if anyone else has come up with this theory as i have not read this thread entirely but here goes:
My theory is that Jes is the Destroyer and also possibly Salamander. There is a part in OC that states that the Destroyer will also possess the ability to kill by will alone as Elspeth does, but so far Ariel has not seemed to demonstrate this particular ability. The only character who has demonstrated this ability so far is Jes when he killed the soldier guard with his mind. I believe he never died but that he coerced Rosemund into believing he had died. Maybe he was going to get Elspeth out of Obernewtyn but believed she was dead as that was what was told to the council members about Elspeth at the end of the first book. So both Elspeth and Jes believe the other to be dead?
As to the theory that Jes is Salamander. I think that because he is the only character that has such a big role in the story but whose identity is still unknown. And it would be an awesome twist to the story.

Ooh, really? Is that in one of the American 'split in halfs' then? Just I don't remember it.
I still don't think it could be Jes though because IC had confirmed he was dead at one stage and while that doesn't mean he's actually dead, it makes him an unlikely candidate for the destroyer.
Salamander is a possibility though since he wasn't introduced till Ashling and I'm not sure when that interview was.

The books having been getting thicker and thicker as the series gets longer, wonder how long the Red Queen will be, so looking for wood to when it comes out.
Any way I was wondering if we will discover Elspeth is pregnant in the red queen?, In the sending after she and Rushton have done it, she keeps saying she feels different, It may be just that they have done it, but may be she's pregnant, or it may be as she's using her mind differently now she's not afraid off her power, the strong one she kills with.
I was thinking she might be pregnant too. Maybe its neccessary for her to have a kid and thats what atthis was waiting for before he sent her off. Also Annalivia is a midwife and shes travelling with them.
I really really hope she isn't pregnant. I dunno, I just kinda think it would end up kinda . . . lame. Babies ruin things for me.
Yeah, I agree. It would be better if it was some subtle Ariel coercion making her tired or some new phase of her ability. Not a baby. That just takes all the romance out of Elspeth and Rushton if they have one night together then bam, the next time they see each other, they're saddled with a child. (I am not romantic.)

Asher, I LOVE that concept of the red land!!! it would definitely solve how they are supposed to get there.
Personally, I am looking forward to getting to know Dragon as a whole person. she is a teenager now, right? and we have never met her with all her memories. We don't even know her name! I hope it is a beautiful name. Maybe it is Mornir, since that's what the animals call her, and her mother was called mornir-ma by them, so mornir's mother... maybe.
The few seconds she talked in the end of the sending was not enough!
I don't know about a baby. For one thing, I don't want the story to take another nine months before Elspeth sees Rushton, lol.

Agreed Heather, Dragon is such a fascinating character and I can't wait to see her come into her own in TRQ.
That is an interesting thought...I wonder what Dragon's "real" name is? I can't imagine calling her anything but Dragon.
I'm not shore if I'd call my self very Romantic ether, you often have to put your own wont's and dreams on hold with a Man never mind if theirs a kid and well. It's just that it sounds like she is.
I wasn't thinking she some how has to have a baby in arms to do her quest just that she may be pregnant, she may lose it, it will make it harder on her in her quest if she is. Personally Id like her to have a ok go at doing her quest, then if its still posable have her happy ever after with Rustin well as happy ever after as a normal cupple can have.
It'll be interesting to see how Dragon develops actually. I mean, her personality developed in a certain way because of the loss of her memories and experiences thereafter and what not, and then she lost even those memories, which caused yet another shift in her development. And now BAM she has everything back again. I imagine she'd be a very tricky character to write for.
I'm undecided on whether I want a happy ending. I kinda don't just cause I'm that kind of person, but the Ober Chrons are really something I just can't imagine an ending to. I really don't have much of an idea of where it's gonna end up (other than finding weaponmachines naturally)
I think It will be a big twist didn't IC say once that Elspath will never see Obanewthan again after she leaves on her qwest, I'm thinking maybe thay will travel around like the gypsy's witch will be in with the ancient promes.
